This room is lovely. Furnished in antiques. Cool. Air conditioned. Private bathroom. Share kitchen and living room and outside amenities. 3 Miles from midtown Ojai. 1 mile to hiking trail head. Local hot springs 15 minute drive away. Grocery 2 miles. There are dogs on premises so you can't be allergic, although they do not go into the room. No smoking inside house. Quiet property. Can easily sleep in very late. No need for early check out. Just by about 1:00 p.m. If no one else is arriving then it can be later. We can discuss this a day before your arrival if you are trying to plan around your departure.
The streets here are quiet and dark at night. I walk my dogs every night off leash if that gives you an idea. There is internet and cable. Our environment is very casual. We pick up behind ourselves but are not neat freaks. The room does not have a television with cable per say, but it does have a nice 32 inch monitor hooked up with all internet amenities and a nice sound system to lay back in bed and watch netflix or listen to pandora.
Recently we bought a "human touch" massage chair. Look up
(website hidden). This is the exact chair. You are going to love it! I had planned to put it in my own bedroom and then I realized how nice it would be for guests to enjoy so it is in the room with you.
We can leave you entirely alone or you can socialize with us. We love barbecue and tri-tip and watching movies on the big screen in the living room.
THIS IS IMPORTANT for DOG OWNERS: We have dogs. Several of them. They are our kids and they are their own pack. We have had guests with dogs several times successfully. However, I do request that you let me know about your dog before arriving. Sometimes personalities of dogs clash. I don't want any fights. Your dog needs to be up on vaccines including kennel cough. I often have very young puppies in the house that could get sick from another adult un-vaccinated dog. WE need to be smart. Also, if you are planning on leaving your dog in our house while going out there needs to be a discussion about compensation. I am not a boarding home. I love all animals and would happily walk and feed your dog, but I want to know ahead of time that this will be the case. If you have a male dog that lifts his leg to mark new territories like my house, please purchase a "belly band" before arrival. See this link: (website hidden)(phone number hidden)/Dog-Housetraining-and-Incontinence.aspx.
Please don't just show up with a dog. Thanks for your consideration on this matter.
We are easy to talk too. Send a message through this system with your questions. I get them as text messages on my phone and will get back very promptly. Also, if you do book the room, for your own good, once booked you will have my phone number. I would love a call the day before letting me know your arrival time. Or, you can text me. But please make a connection with me the day before.
Thanks for your consideration of our room. We love our home and welcome you into it.

Marika and Todd were just delightful. They were so warm and hospitable - making my trip into town for the marathon even better than I could have imagined. Their puppies are sweet as pie. Not to mention - there is a massage chair in one of their rooms...worth the price of admission alone! Thank you to the Zoll's!
Ojai is a beautiful artisan welcoming town north of Los Angles and the road from the 5 is just amazing through the mountains. I loved the beauty and tranquility in those orange groves.
Marika was out of town but Todd more than made up for her as his company was an intellectual delight and his genuine laid back friendliness put me at ease immediately on arrival. Their home is a bit ramshackle outside but I loved it all the more as it feels you are a guest in a home as opposed to a mere house. They have four inquisitive French bulldogs and a bedroom which will coax anyone to sleep long and deep. I loved it here for the retreat to get my project finished and clear my head of LA noise. I hope to return again and down a few more ciders with a great guy and maybe meet Marika this time!
Wow! I had a great time in Ojai. Marika and Todd are lovely hosts, and the house is just amazing, full of all sorts of art and artifacts. It is artistic but feels like you are in the country at the same time. The puppies were darling. The room has a very luxurious feeling and is very comfortable. I look forward to going back!
It was very comfortable and warm place to stay. Marika made me very easy for strange place. Even though I'm afraid of dogs, the stay was very easy to me. When l visit the Ojai again, I'll stay there too.
Carol and I really enjoyed our very relaxing stay with Marika and Todd. Their conveniently located home was lovely, comfortable and lots of fun to share. We loved interacting with the playful dogs and got to know and become fast friends with our helpful hosts. We found so much in common with them. Their place is the opposite of a stuffy and drab hotel/motel. It is filled with antiques and objets d' art, but not the "hands off" kind. We will be back to stay with them soon!
Marika and Todd were lovely and very attentive. Cool atmosphere, comfy bed, awesome massage chair, and sweet dogs. :)
If you're looking for a great spot in Ojai and don't mind being slightly off the beaten path from downtown, I can't suggest a better option than with these two. Now, I say off the beaten path like it's undesirable, however on the contrary, this was a blessing. I think most of the allure of Ojai is being off the beaten path. With such a wonderfully obscure setting, both Todd and Marika couldn't have been more hospitable, friendly and open to any type of traveler. They made us feel undeniably welcome and were an entirely new outlet in themselves as if their pad and their company was a sight to see and experience in itself. Highly recommended. Unless you hate dogs. And if you hate dogs, then who can trust you anyway...?
Marika and Todd are very friendly. The house is fun and artistic, with a lot of sweet French bulldogs.
Marika and Todd are easy to talk to, extremely hospitable, and wonderful hosts. We came to Ojai for a wedding and they even offered to drop us off/pick us up so that we didn't have to worry about driving. It was so sweet of them.
They were always making sure that we felt comfortable whether it be the temperature of the room, offering us drinks, etc. To top it off, they had 6 french bull dog puppies at the time and I was in puppy heaven! Waking up to coffee and puppies--doesn't get much better.
We got exactly what we wanted out of our stay with Marika & Todd. We were visiting for a long weekend getaway and to check out the Ojai area as a future place of residence. We wanted to get a feel for the people, the vibe, and the values of the place. It was really helpful to stay with people that actually live there and were willing to spend time sharing personal insights, opinions and suggestions from their experience there.
Their funny little french bulldogs were very sweet and helped us start our day giggling. Todd and Marika were very friendly. They made some great recommendations for good restaurants and evening activities.
The room was clean and just the right size for our needs. They made room in the fridge for some of our extra food and even invited us the watch a movie with them.
