The Space

LOCATION:
the cottage is located in the center of Lower Highlands (LOHI) next to the Navajo Street Arts District and no need to cab it because we are in the midst of it all.

Lower Highlands is Denver's fastest up & coming neighborhood - every day it seems like there are more new restaurants, coffee shops, bars, breweries, unique shops or tasty places opening daily.

those who are interested in our local brews - we are walking distance to three new breweries for as well as a short drive to several other breweries.

there is some history behind the cottages -
they were built in the 1890's and used to belong to a horse and carriage business which shuttled workers down to Union Station. our neighborhood has always been a working class neighborhood starting with the Italians and then has welcomed many other waves of immigrants.

The Lower Highlands district is a thriving area due to the of proximity and the number of attractions that you can walk or bike to.

Bike paths are plentiful and you could tour the whole city on them.
you can rent a bike with a swipe of your credit card- Denver has a bike rental program named "B cycle".
At the B cycle station you can rent a bike for an hour or several days, there are many drop off stations where you can leave the bike and pick another one up to use again. I have information in the cottage on these rentals.

also, the RTD's lightrail & Amtra train station is cross the river at Union Station (16th street) which will take you across the Denver Metro area.

coming in the future is the northwest light rail line that will be several block from the cottages!

  • Jennifer & Giovanni made everything as easy as possible and were extremely welcoming. The place was in a perfect location - walking distance/cheap cab ride from Coors Field and a fantastic restaurant/bar within 0.2 miles (Highland Tavern). I had everything I needed during my stay. I am very satisfied and would stay here again!

  • The cottage was perfect and we really appreciated being able to bring our dogs along. Great location and comfortable accommodations! Although we didn't stay long, I can see this cottage being a great place to stay for a longer period of time.

  • Willow cottage is a charming place to stay! Impeccably clean and well located. It's very tiny, which I find endearing -- maybe not the best choice for a professional basketball player or something (since so many of them use airbnb ;) ). The hot tub was very helpful after a long day on the slopes, and the communal feel of the property is fun. I highly recommend!

  • Jennifer and Giovanni rescued us from a bad booking through another Airbnb host. They were able to accommodate us last minute, and for that we are very grateful. All that aside, the cottage was perfect! Small, but enough room to lounge, eat, bathe and sleep - exactly what we were looking for. As for the hosts themselves, they were very gracious and friendly. The only complaint we have is not being able to spend more time there. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area, but especially those with many planned activities!

  • I have been a host for a long time on AirBnb but have never used it personally to find a place to stay. This place was awesome! The hosts were awesome! I even had a car issue and Giovanni helped me find a mechanic and even offered to give me a ride. Really great hosts and and beautiful cottage. I will absolutely be renting here in the future!

  • We had a great stay at the Willow Cottage, and would definitely stay there again when visiting Denver! Check-in and check-out were breezy, and the hot tub and court yard between the cottages were great garden spaces to lounge and relax. Their place is walking distance (15+ mins) to the 16th St pedestrian mall and shuttle, as well as numerous restaurants in the Highlands. Jennifer and Gio were friendly and welcoming. Thanks!

  • Jennifer and Giovanni were there to greet us upon arrival at their funky oasis in the Denver highlands. A great little cottage in a fantastic area. There was lots to do within walking distance (however, we like to walk... others may find it far from downtown). However, as soon as you get to the other side of the highway via a nice trail through the park, you can take the free shuttle around downtown. The grounds of the cottage are great, but we didn't get to spend much time at them because we were out and about enjoying Denver and attending a conference. Great Mexican food down the street. Also Root Down was a fun place to dine in the hood and drinks at Williams & Graham is a must. We are already planning our return visit.

  • It was the cutest cottage in a very convenient location to explore all of Denver. Jennifer & Giovanni were great hosts, available but not intrusive, just perfect. The cottage was well stocked with cooking things and towels and has such a nice garden in front of it. We were able to walk to coffee and to lunch as well as a few breweries. Without hesitation I would recommend renting from them and I hope to return soon. Thanks!

  • I absolutely recommend Willow Cottage. The photos of the cottage and the grounds are accurate, actually the grounds are even better in person. I unfortunately was not able to meet Jennifer but Giovanni is terrific as well as their permanent resident Nils. The seating areas are beautiful. You can pick one out in the open or pick another that is more intimate and private. The cottage is older and has its quirks but that is most definitely part of the charm of staying on this property and if you read prior to your stay there will not be any surprises. I hope to be traveling to Denver often and I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that Willow Cottage is available!

  • This was our 10th annual visit to Denver. It was wonderful to have a quiet place to crash, rest and shower after long days of Great American Beer Festival activities. Stayed 5 nights. The cottage is set back from the street a little way - lends to some privacy. Private Pattio in back. The bedroom is a little tight but workable. Memory Foam on bed is comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen due to time constraints. Great proximity to Prost Brewing. I highly recommend Prost. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet our hosts. We were either out and about or sleeping the whole time.

About
We are a community of artists. We enjoy cooking, growing fruits and vegetables. and long to one day have our own chicken ranch here at the cottages. Mixed media projects and furniture building goes on a lot out side when the Colorado weather permits. We enjoy being in the lower highlands and take advantage of the great walks down by the river as often as we can.
