Sara was very nice and flexible about meeting us. She helped us find the flat over the phone when we were lost. BUT unfortunately I cannot recommend her flat. We ended up not even staying there because it was so unpleasant. The black couch was broken. The queen bed was up high over two twin beds and was so close to the ceiling that it was unusable. The place was dingy and rather broken down. The neighborhood also felt unsafe at night when we arrived. Not at all worth the price.
Esperienza positivissima, la casa molto carina e Sara è stata molto molto disponibile e cordiale.
We stayed in Sara’s apartment for one week in August and aren’t sure if we would return. Sara met us at the place, gave us a key and then sent us away, because she still had to clean the apartment. She was friendly and answered our questions.
The biggest positive was the location in relation to Verona and Lake Garda. We spent half our time by the lake and the rest exploring Verona. The bus service (to Verona) is located by the nearby church and not hard to navigate, there is late night service so we were able to have date nights in Verona and make it back with no problem. It’s about a 25 min Bus ride to Castelvecchio.
The little town named Cadidavid is cute, although a lot of the little stores and coffee shops were closed while we were there. We can highly recommend the ice cream at the ‘Pink Panther’.
The apartment itself is located on a fairly big intersection between two exits on the highway so there is a large amount of traffic that regularly goes by, and it can be quite noisy. The beds situation, which was not exactly clear in the picture, included a large bed for two that was raised on a platform that was close to the ceiling. We ended up taking the mattress off the bed and moving it to the floor of the living room every night. If there were more than just the two of us this would have been a problem. The apartment wasn’t as clean as we would have liked, our feet were really dirty after we walked around inside, there is a smell of stale cigarette smoke present, which she tried to hide with copious amounts of air freshener, there weren’t any trash bags in the bins. There was NO toilet seat (no kidding) and the power kept on shutting off when most of the lights were on. Also about half the lights didn`t work and needed to be changed. The lights that did work were halogens and emitted a lot of heat, which didn’t help the temperature in the place.
The a/c was broken and although Sara said she would bring a fan, she never did. As long as you were okay hanging out with the front door open the place got decent air flow but it was a little strange as there were people constantly walking by and stopping at the bakery across the street. There was enough random kitchen equipment to figure out cooking and two supermarkets are close by. The kitchen itself seemed fairly new and the gas stove worked perfectly. We were just missing proper lighting in the kitchen area.
Overall, for the price, you get what you pay for, at least the neighborhood was safe and our plan was to spend as little time as possible in the apartment and more time exploring the area. That being said I personally would not choose to go back to Sara’s apartment.
Sara's flat was O.K. The location was fine for us, just a few km. away from old Verona. We had a car, so no problem. I found that the apartment could have been better if there were more dishes and cutlery and if it had more air circulation. With only one window in the front, the air could not circulate. Also we had problems with the electricity on our last day, as the circuit breaker was always tripping (every 5 minutes). Good thing I brought my flashlight! Overall these things made our stay there less memorable than other places I've stayed at. Ah, there is one great kebab place just down the street that we really enjoyed. Dan
Sara is a very friendly girl. She welcomed us very warmly and we appreciated all the useful hints she gave us. The flat is near the city centre by car and we can park just in front of the apartment. Thanks sara for the lovely stay!!
the pictures on the sites were very attractive, the flat is not. The pictures are deceptive It is old and not very clean but on the whole it's was ok for 2 nights.
We were pretty disappointed with Sara`s flat. We wanted to come with 4 people (2 couples) but our friends who arrived in the evening didn`t want to stay because there was no space for two more peole:
the sofabed in the kitchen/livingroom was broken and there were neither bedlinen nor towels!
The kitchen sink was very dirty and the shower.....simply disgusting!!!
No furniture on the so-called terrace and of course no breakfast at all, as announced.NEVER AGAIN !
Our stay was very enjoyable. Sara is easy-going and friendly, and the apartment is spacious and clean (when we were there). It's not high luxury (e.g., the toilet seat was broken, there was no toilet paper and the beds aren't in the best of states), but for the price I paid I certainly can't complain. Also, as for the beds, at least there are enough of them to host a small group of friends (there were two of us, but I figure we could have taken two more.)
Overall, an enjoyable stay in a beautiful city. Beware that the location isn't very central, and the bus system can be difficult to navigate for non-Italians. As for things to do in Verona: Juliet's house was crowded and pretty lame, but the many churches filled with Renaissance masterpieces and the ancient Roman arena and theater were very worthwhile. Scale the central tower to get a nice view of the beautiful surroundings.
