About this listing
David and Angie's nineteenth century elegant Victorian house is located in a secret garden twenty minutes’ walk from the historic centre of Cork City, a European capital of culture, boasting an energetic artistic community.
The house itself has a welcoming atmosphere with beautifully decorated rooms in the period style, spacious and comfortably furnished.
Angie is an artist painter with a studio in the city while David a Chocolatier has his workshop studio in their garden. So while you sit, relax and listen to bird song within the walled garden after a day visiting sites, it's possible to indulge in a little chocolate tasting with a complimentary glass of wine.
In the morning before heading out for a day’s sightseeing, a hearty breakfast is served in the conservatory.
Both David and Angie are very informative about their city and will provide information on current arts events, historic attractions and good restaurants. It’s an ideal place for exploring the Cork region and neighbouring counties.Within walking distance from the Marquee for music events.
Hands on chocolate courses can be arranged where you can make truffles or your own personalised creations and learn the secrets of the chocolate world, can be arranged with prior notice.
No smoking in house
We had a lovely time with David and Angie, we were well taken care of! The house is a living museum, lots of art and books to look at(and chocolates to eat...lol)!
You don't expect such a charming house and garden in this neighborhood, which is from a much later period. David and Angie are excellent hosts. Staying in their house and talking with them felt like a winning lottery ticket.
David & Angie have a lovely place, very colourful and are very fine hosts. We were out a lot, but the time spend in the house felt very welcome; reading in the windowsill in the morningsun, fresh homemade granola for breakfast, etc... it is a good place to stay for a couple of days! Distance to the city is walking distance which is convenient when without own transportation.
Our stay with David and his wife was very nice! We were only in Cork for one night, but we felt very welcome at their home. The amenities were clean and we enjoyed our night in Cork!
We had a wonderful time at David and Angie'S house. They were very informative about cork. Breakfast was wonderful as was the chocolate.
David & Angie are extraordinary hosts and went out of their way to be sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our visit to Cork. Their home is like a record of all the thought and care that have gone into the 25+ years they have spent living there. The amenities are perfectly suited to accommodate many different kinds of travelers, considering that they offer two private rooms, each with a single and double bed respectively. Their 3 adorable dogs make great company! The breakfast in the morning is offered in a beautiful, light-soaked studio and was one of my most memorable meals in Ireland. It's a lovely walk into town from their place and my only regret is that I didn't have more time to spend enjoying the atmosphere in this wonderful home.
We loved staying with David and his wife in Cork. The house and grounds were beautiful and we really enjoyed getting to know each of them better. They were very helpful in recommending restaurants and places of interest in town.
