David and Angie's nineteenth century elegant Victorian house is located in a secret garden twenty minutes’ walk from the historic centre of Cork City, a European capital of culture, boasting an energetic artistic community.
The house itself has a welcoming atmosphere with beautifully decorated rooms in the period style, spacious and comfortably furnished.
Angie is an artist painter with a studio in the city while David a Chocolatier has his workshop studio in their garden. So while you sit, relax and listen to bird song within the walled garden after a day visiting sites, it's possible to indulge in a little chocolate tasting with a complimentary glass of wine.
In the morning before heading out for a day’s sightseeing, a hearty breakfast is served in the conservatory.
Both David and Angie are very informative about their city and will provide information on current arts events, historic attractions and good restaurants. It’s an ideal place for exploring the Cork region and neighbouring counties.Within walking distance from the Marquee for music events.
Hands on chocolate courses can be arranged where you can make truffles or your own personalised creations and learn the secrets of the chocolate world, can be arranged with prior notice.
We had a wonderful time staying in David and Angies beautiful home ! They treated us like personal guests , David spoiled us with chocolate and gave us a lift into the city centre that evening . The following morning we had an amazing breakfast in their gorgeous conservatory . They also gave us personalised chocolate for our little girl ( which didn't last long ! ) we will be back !
My friend and I enjoyed staying with David and Angie. I feel like they really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We each had our own room and their home is lovely and is decorated with the eye of an artist. We most enjoyed taking our breakfast in their beautiful conservatory. With a 20 minute walk to the center of Cork and access to buses that take you to Blarney Castle (only 6 km from Cork), I would recommend staying here.
David and Angie are very nice. I felt very comfortable in their home, like I was visiting friends or family. They are both creative, kindhearted people. Their house is as lovely as they are. I would defiantly recommend staying here and hope to go back in the future.
Thank you both for helping make my holiday so special.
David and Angie were most welcoming and courteous to us during our stay. On our arrival we enjoyed tea and apple pie in the conservatory and the following morning were provided with a delicious breakfast. Our room was comfortable and homely and the large bathroom had a decent shower. We would be happy to stay there on another trip to Cork.
SO. If you are an artist, you have a connection to the arts community in Cork. If you're a foodie, you have an accomplished food business man and chocolatier. If you like art and STUFF, this is the house for you. If you like homemade granola and lovely jams, sign up. Not to mention the three (3!!!) Jack Russell Terriers who are so friendly and a great sideshow out of your bedroom window. Angie and David are full of in town tips, leading you to the laundry or grocery, shortcuts to the motor route. We loved our stay and even the creaky floors. Thanks. Angie and David.
This is a great place to stay. The house is beautiful and full of character. David and Angie are fantastic hosts who went out of their way to help us out. We left the house with postcard prints of Angie's work while eating David's home-made chocolate, a real treat.
Fantastic and very interesting place with great hosts. The highlight of the trip in Ireland ! Delicious Breakfast and Chocolate from David in a very peaceful environment.
I needed to book accommodation for my Brother and his partner at the last minute for the Bruce Springstein concert in Pairc Ui Caoimh and stumbled upon David's page for his guesthouse. I am sooooo glad I did as my Brother and Partner absolutely loved it! Quote from my brother :) "It is a beautiful house and garden in a great location close to city centre and Pairc Ui Caoimh. David and Angie were very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Glass of wine on arrival was a lovely touch. David also gave us a tour of his Chocolate Workshop which was lovely. We will definitely stay here again and would wholeheartedly recommend it to any of our friends who are looking for a place to stay in Cork City. The only downfall was that we didn't get to stay for longer".
Once I make it back home to Ireland, my brother and Partner have suggested that we head to Cork for a few days and stay in David and Angie's guesthouse. By the sounds of things, I cannot wait!! :)
We stayed with David for a night in July. His home was lovely and he was kind enough to give us a ride to the city and recommend a place for dinner. We took a taxi back, as the walk would be rather long and were treated to a nice breakfast in the morning followed by some chocolate sampling. I would recommend.
What a fabulous B&B! We both absolutely loved every second of it. The house is stunningly decorated with really interesting and unique art pieces whilst also retaining a beautiful balance of its original Victorian charm. It's set in lovely garden surroundings in a quiet leafy area. David, our host was a dream - we had a lovely glass of wine on our arrival and were treated to a chocolate making workshop the next day. The dogs were also gorgeous and friendly. In fact we had such a great stay that we didn't want to leave so we've named the B&B 'our home away from home' and are planning to return as soon as possible just to spend more time there! We both felt instantly at home and would highly recommend this gorgeous property to anyone staying in Cork.
