About this listing

The space

David and Angie's nineteenth century elegant Victorian house is located in a secret garden twenty minutes’ walk from the historic centre of Cork City, a European capital of culture, boasting an energetic artistic community.

The house itself has a welcoming atmosphere with beautifully decorated rooms in the period style, spacious and comfortably furnished.

Angie is an artist painter with a studio in the city while David a Chocolatier has his workshop studio in their garden. So while you sit, relax and listen to bird song within the walled garden after a day visiting sites, it's possible to indulge in a little chocolate tasting with a complimentary glass of wine.

In the morning before heading out for a day’s sightseeing, a hearty breakfast is served in the conservatory.

Both David and Angie are very informative about their city and will provide information on current arts events, historic attractions and good restaurants. It’s an ideal place for exploring the Cork region and neighbouring counties.Within walking distance from the Marquee for music events.
Hands on chocolate courses can be arranged where you can make truffles or your own personalised creations and learn the secrets of the chocolate world, can be arranged with prior notice.

David and Angie are warm and friendly hosts who let you into their world in Cork, ready and happy to share their wealth of knowledge on Ireland. Breakfast in the conservatory overlooking their garden was a beautiful way to start our days in Cork, and David's chocolate as well as Angie's artwork are unexpected bonuses on top of all of this.

David and Angie were wonderful hosts. The space was beautiful and decorated with beautiful artwork and the house was surrounded by gardens and set away from the main street. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was quite large. The house was about a 20-25 minute walk to the city center. There was parking available. David and Angie were very helpful with giving us suggestions of restaurants in Cork and of places to stop and visit on our way to Dingle upon leaving. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, yogurt and especially the homemade granola we were served. I would return here without question if I were to return to Cork.

Historic Victorian home with great hosts! 20 minute walk to historic downtown Cork with tons of shops, restaurants and pubs. We took David's chocolates class and had a great time making chocolate to take home with us. So fun! Also dropped by David's chocolate shop in the English market in the city centre. Breakfast is served in a beautiful sun room. Delicious homemade granola in a beautiful room looking out at the garden and listening to birds sing is a great way to start the day!

Had a wonderful stay with David and Angie. Their home is beautiful and we really felt welcome. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend David's chocolate course if you have time - we really enjoyed it (and the chocolate is out of this world!)

My family and I enjoyed immensely the time we spent with Angie, David and the dogs. Angie is an artist and their Victorian home is packed with treasures that make you feel as though you're sleeping in a museum. David makes the most exquisite chocolates, the champagne one being the best! The couple have a lot of historical knowledge and are very generous in the information that they share. They are warm and hospitable. The home-made breakfasts set you up for a great day. Would highly recommend.

We had a really lovely weekend with David & Angie. They made us feel welcome and took time each day to chat to us and gave us ideas for things to do and places to eat. Also they do an amazing breakfast which set us up for the day. The location was perfect. Just a 20 minute or so walk into the city. The house had so much character and we felt very relaxed there.
