Convenient, Casual, Cheap near SLC

House - Private room · Van Buren St, Midvale, UT 84047, United States

The Space

We have been told staying with us is like staying at an old friends place. We like to keep a very easy going atmosphere, and by no means do we claim to be a 5 star hotel, but we like to make sure that our guests are comfortable and feel at home. We have an english bull dog and a cat that love to meet new people.

A spacious basement room with tile floors, queen size mattress, and 3 small windows. Plenty of drawer and closet space. Other bedrooms in the house are occupied and you will share the kitchen. The home has all the necessary amenities plus Internet, washer/dryer, large back yard with porch. Safe neighborhood, plenty of parking.

Casual atmosphere, come and go as you please, we are ok with late check in. Some like to sit down, have a drink and chat. But its ok if you need a place to crash and hit road early the next day.

Renting a car is the easiest way to get around Salt Lake City but a TRAX station is a 7 minute walk. 15 minutes driving to downtown, 30 minutes to the ski resorts. Perfect for someone looking to save money and who don't mind a short drive into town. No smoking, outside only. On occasion Tyler's son stays at the house with us he is 7.

Salt Lake City is beautiful in every season. Greatest snow and skiing on earth! Hiking, boating, mountain climbing, four wheeling are all very close by, while the busy city of Salt Lake City is within a 20 minute drive. Very unique culture with many historic LDS sites and a fun night life.

Guest Access

You will have access to the entire house. The only areas they will not have access to is the other bedrooms and the upstairs bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

The stairs to the basement allow you to come and go without disruption. We are home and hanging out in the kitchen and upstairs most of the time so feel free to socialize with us when ever you like. Jason shares the basement with you and is home less than half the time.

Getting around

Light rail (train/metro) public tranportation is a 10 minute walk from the house.

  • My fiancé & I truly enjoyed our week stay with Elise and Tyler. They were both extremely hospitable, friendly and helpful. The room we were provided with exceeded our expectations, we had more space and privacy than we expected. Quite honesty we were almost 'too' comfortable, as we both wanted to continuously sleep in! Super cozy, warm and quiet. They had all the amenities a guest would need. I would definitely stay with them again and highly recommend them!
Elise & Jason' was the perfect place for our sundance festival lodging! Not to mention they were always quick to communicate and/or answer any questions that we had at record speed! :)

  • Elise & Tyler were friendly and hospitable hosts. We arrived late in the evening and departed very early in the morning. We were appreciative of the pot of coffee that was ready for us in the morning. This was a great place to rest for a night!

  • Tyler and Elise were very friendly and accommodating. It was easy to come and go as I needed, which worked very well for me. Also, I really liked their dog, Gearmo and their cat, Marley. They were both very friendly and I am already a animal lover. When I am back in the area, I will definitely try to stay with them again.

  • Just a quick night off the road, but Tyler let me in when I came slowly through the snow at 5am, and the bed was comfortable and the room all ready for me! :) The dog was adorable too.

  • Zac and I (and our two dogs) relocated to Salt Lake City area and stayed with Elise and Tyler for our first month in the area. We decided to stay with Elise and Tyler mainly because of the location (in general area that we planned to get our permanent place) and to fit our budget. We could not be happier with our decision; Elise and Tyler were absolutely amazing hosts. As we read in other reviews, Zac and I were treated like old friends. Tyler and Elise are very knowledgeable about the area and were able to recommend several great places for dining and entertainment. They are extremely warm and hospitable people. We loved to join in on movie/video game nights with them, just also felt that we had all the privacy that we needed.

Zac and I found a permanent place to live, and were actually very sad to be leaving Tyler and Elise's place! We will definitely keep in touch with them, though. Both Zac and I strongly recommend staying with Tyler and Elise, as our stay with them was perfect!

About
I am a actress who lives in Salt Lake City. I am 29 years old and Tyler and I love to travel. This year we have been to Spain and Thailand. We also love to save money and thats why we like airbnb, yard sales and boxed wine. ;) We like to see historic sites, see beautiful scenery, experience the culture, get to know locals and experience the night life. We also love to have people stay at our place. I can't imagine spending $90 on a hotel room ever again.
