The space

There are two houses. The main house dates back to the Renaissance. The story goes that during the time the house served as a presbytery, King Francois the First, slept in it, while traveling in the region. Sections have been added in the XVII and XVIII but most of the outside walls date back to the XVth.
There is a garden dominated by a swimming pool with pool alarm (if you have small children; the alarm can be switched on/off as you wish), lots of flowers and some beautiful trees including a wonderful palm tree.
The two houses, (in the shape of an L around the garden/pool) make up a total living space of 550 m2. All the bedrooms in both houses have a view on the garden and pool. The two bedrooms in the main house are more 'chateau' like while the other 4 are simpler, more in the provence style. There are also 2 baby cots available. Each house has a large living room and a kitchen(big one in the main house) and kitchen bar in the second house. The old house may have a window or a door that closes with a bit more difficulty(price to pay for original settings).

Amenities and furniture: There is a washing machine, a tumble drier(and the possibility of hanging up your clothes outside to dry), dish washer, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, coffee maker, blender/juicer, electric kettle, toaster, iron. All kitchen amenities are available in both houses with the exception of the dishwasher which is only in the main house.
In the house there is WI-FI, cable TV, radio and a CD player.
For sitting by the pool we have 7 sun loungers and an indefinite amount of chairs you can use, there are 2 dining tables inside which can accommodate 13 people and 1 outside for 13 or more. There are 2 baby high chairs. There is a portable BBQ.
There are 6 bedrooms and 1 bedroom alcove, with 3 double beds, 3 twin beds(which can be separated but will still be in the same room), 1 single(for a young person). There are 2 beds for babies.
Bed linen and towels ( both shower and beach) are included. Beds are done up for arrival. The cleaning is also included in the price. An extra mid week cleaning of the kitchens and bathrooms is also included.

The garden/pool gets sun all day, so its ideal for sunbathing, and if you prefer the shade there is enough cover from the various trees around the pool as well.

Since the house is situated in a village you have all basic necessities within a three minute walk. There is a bakery, grocery store, supermarket, cafe-bar, pharmacy, a few restaurants, and a take away pizza place. This however also means that you have neighbours! And the neighbours do need to sleep. This means that you can of course sit outside by the pool and have normal conversations but no loud partying after 11pm.

Driving you can reach golf and tennis courts within 5 minutes. Canoe hire, windsurf, bike hire, riding can all be reached in 10-20 minutes. The sea/beaches are a 20 minute car ride from the house.

During the summertime there is a variety of music, poetry and dance festivals and events happening in the surrounding areas such as Sete, Beziers, Lodeve, Montpellier, Pezenas.

There is also an established wine culture in the region, with several vineyards open for wine tasting and purchase. If you want some recommendations I can always oblige.

There is a gated gravel courtyard in the front of the house (which is completely separate from the garden which is on the other side of the houses) where you can park 2-3 cars and if you need more space there is free parking just up the street.

Michel, the caretaker and gardener comes every morning(very early at 6 am) to water the flowers and clean the pool. He is very quiet and never enters the house. He only speaks french but so far guests have had no problems with a bit of sign language. Michel will meet you when you arrive, show you the house and give you the keys. If there is any problem you can call him and he will come and fix it. I have also left on the desk of the main house a little notebook with information about how to use the various amenities, wi-fi password etc.
If you have any further questions about the property just write me an email.

The house is a 15 minute drive from Beziers airport( Ryanair airport), a 45 minute drive from Montpellier airport and 1.5 hours from Gerona airport(Ryanair). The local train station is Beziers or Agde, and if you are going to or coming from Paris it takes about 4.5 hours.

Sometimes a good experience creates a dilemma. You want to sing praise of the house and the host but enter other hand keep the little gem for yourself. However in this case the experience was not good but great! The house, the location, the village and Benedicte's hospitality.

The most pressing challenge you may find when staying in Benedicte's house is that it is so comfortable, so romantic and so delightful that you barely stray into the surrounding environs - an area well-known for its food, wine and amusements. We ate out only once and visited Rochlongue beach (Palm Beach club near Les Vagues restaurant, FYI) once. Other than that, our week was spent within, or certainly close by, this most wonderful mini-complex. Tastefully decorated, this house is the definition of good living - one that marries the best of modern convenience with beautiful and grand, old-world charm. Its location is perfect - in the very heart of Montblanc and a two minute walk from the main street with its bar/restaurant, mini-supermarket, butcher and two bakers. It is split into two houses, both looking out onto a wonderful courtyard with splendid mature trees and well-tended garden. Two large double bedrooms upstairs in the main house (and a single that was surplus to our requirements) and four large, comfortable double bedrooms across the way, in what our concierge, handyman and all-round good guy - Michel - thought might have once served as the servants' quarters. (FYI If you're up early enough (7am or so), Michel who services the pool/garden daily is a good source of knowledge of the area. If you're not up by then, Michel is quiet as a mouse.) There is plenty of room to roam (we were 6 adults, 4 children 8-13), with a well-resourced kitchen, luxurious, airy and comfortable sitting rooms and a wifi connection that works well - especially for teenagers intravenously hooked up to social media. The garden is perfect for lounging in the shade, or crisping in the sun, and features a spotless, refreshing pool in which we spent many happy hours. In preparation for your stay, two heads up. 1) The older generation of our party found the stairs to their bedroom a challenge. 2) The price paid for being in such a marvellous location adjacent to Montblanc's church, is the regular chime of the bells. I'm unsure if they rang through the night as I never heard them and to be honest, for our party, they only added to the atmosphere throughout the day. For light sleepers, you may want to bring ear plugs - just in case. A highly recommended location and a wonderful week's stay. We will be back.

Response from Benedicte:
Thank you Sam for great comments! For me it is so important that my guests enjoy the house, the garden and the environment. I will make sure to replace the fans with new ones!! As for the kitchen, it will be easy to put an extra table on the side. Michel loved the chats and the cup of coffee every morning! He called to tell me about it! I hope you and your family have a continued good summer and I look forward having you again at Montblanc! Warm regards. Benedicte

Benedicte was an amazing host she answered all my questions prior our arrival and gave me all the informations we needed. This house is amazing it is one of my best air Bnb experience so far the settings, the decoration, the garden and the pool are jut amazing. We were a big group of 13 adults with 2 babies and we all had enough spaces and really enjoyed the house and te village. You just have to be careful with the noise at night as you are in the center of the village but a part of this little detail it is an amazing place where to stay and I will recommend it to anyone .

We had a wonderful week staying in Benedicte's beautiful house. Everything was as we hoped - the caretaker was welcoming and very helpful (he speaks Spanish as well as French) and he returned immediately when we needed some blankets (it was an unexpectedly cold August at night!). Montblanc is a charming, friendly village, we bought fresh croissants and bread every morning and the rotisserie chicken from the butcher was delicious. There is also a bar, a small supermarket and a pharmacy - we did not need to shop at all at the supermarket, although there is one near by. We were a family party of 11, ages ranging from my 15-year-old nephew to my 80 year-old mother and we all had comfortable rooms and beds and we ate every meal outside in the garden. There are lots of fridges and plenty of room to cook. There is a little market in the village on Wednesdays but we went to the bigger one on Sunday at Bessan. The house is perfectly located for exploring the beaches (we recommend Vendres Plage Ouest - park at the Esprit Cafe and Beach and there is a lovely boardwalk to the beach with cafe and sun beds). We also went to Roquebrun for the kids to do canoeing which was brilliant fun, and then we found a beautiful bit of the River Orb which we went back to the next day to swim and have a picnic at Reals - idillic! There is a little tourist office in the village, and the woman there was very helpful. I would highly recommend the house for a holiday and Benedicte was always helpful and informative and quick to respond to my emails about directions, deposits etc. I hope that one day we will get a chance to return - thank you Benedicte for sharing your house with us.

Me and my friends (12 people) had a wonderful experience staying one week in Montblanc. The beautiful villa was spacious and charming with a cozy atmosphere - we immediately felt at home. The area offers a lot to do and see but the most of us spent the whole week reading books by the pool in the lush garden. Two kitchens made cooking easy and in the morning we bought fresh bread for breakfast at the bakery 2 min walk away. We were well taken cared of by Michel, the house attendant who showed us everything we needed to know when we arrived. The house is a perfect getaway for a group of friends who wants to hang out and leave the hectic city life behind for a while.

The house is an historical and wonderful villa, placed in the center of a little village, Montablanc. The house has 6 large bed-rooms, a nice garden with swimming-pool and BBQ and a comfortable kitchen. All the rooms were very clean, comfortable and fully equipped. A parking for 3-4 cars is at the entrance of the house. The contact person in Montblanc was very nice and available to help us in any occasion. Montblanc is about 20 minutes from the sea and 1 hour from many historical place in Provence (Arles, Avignone....) We (12 people) had a very nice week in this house and in Provence.
