We are a dancer/choreographer couple delighted to offer our home, a glorious parlor level (2nd floor) brownstone apartment - high ceilings, stained glass windows, lots of lovely sunlight and a few short blocks to Prospect Park. Lefferts (formerly Prospect Lefferts Gardens) is a charming Brooklyn neighborhood rich with history, greenery, and diversity. You can expect a real Brooklyn experience at our apartment.
The bedroom’s queen sized bed comfortably fits one person, a couple, or two friends willing to bunk together. The bathroom has a claw-foot tub and an excellent showerhead. The dining and living rooms are spacious and warm with plenty of spaces to enjoy a meal or relax. We have a flat screen television, a Wii for watching Netlix (or playing games), and free Wifi.
The kitchen is fully-equipped with a dishwasher, gas stove and oven, typical kitchen amenities, and oodles of cook books. It's a delightful place to whip up something tasty. We also provide some breakfast goodies.
The apartment is quiet, private, and quite large by NYC standards. A sweet little neighbor cat sometimes visits, but does not live in the apartment and can be kept out if necessary.
The neighborhood is charming and safe. There's a yummy Caribbean bakery on the corner, a lovely wine shop one block away, grocery shops large and small, and a few great restaurants (take out and sit down) in the area. Prospect Park is 4 blocks away, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Museum are a short bus ride away or an enjoyable stroll through the park, and a wonderful farmer's market takes place every (email hidden) Plaza. We'll leave you some fun things to check out during your stay. And read more about Lefferts Gardens on airbnb's website: https://www.airbnb.com/locations/new-york/lefferts-garden
We're off the Q express line and the B train, both of which are great trains. The Q gets you to lower Manhattan in 30 minutes or less and stops at most major stations. The B takes you along the lower east side and then up the west side.
We place a lot of emphasis on the upkeep and quality of our home. We keep a clean, organized and warm apartment and expect our guests to enjoy and respect our space.
It's ideal for a couple, but can absolutely house two friends who don't mind sharing a bed or more if sleeping on a comfortable couch suits you. We also have a super comfy air mattress. Just ask! Oh, and we'd ask that you lovingly take care of our cherished plants.
We would love to host you!
We loved Alex' and Xan's apartment! During our week in New York City it was a cosy safe haven for us, that we loved to return to at the end of the day.
When we arrived they had prepared it very nicely and they left home baked cookies, wine and things for breakfast for us!
They provided us with lots of information about the place, the neighborhood and what they expect from their guests - nothing was unclear and no problems occurred during our stay.
All in all the apartment added substantially to our well-being during our stay in New York.
We had a great experience and would highly recommend the apartment, area and the hosts Xan & Alex especially for being so helpful, considerate and catering to all our needs, thanks
This apartment is fantastic! You will not be disappointed -- you will love your stay here! Everything is just as described, the apartment and neighborhood are great.
The location is easy to get to by car or train. It's just around the corner from slightly busy Flatbush Avenue, but this apartment is on a quiet shaded street. It's a short walk to Prospect Park or the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and a great place ro relax after a trip into the city.
Alex and Xan left a binder with lots of great suggestions (restaurants, shops, places to see). They were perfect hosts and we would gladly stay here again. Thank you, Alex and Xan, for making our first Airbnb stay such a wonderful experience.
Alex and Xan's beautiful and cosy apartment was the perfect home base for a week of adventures and living it up in NYC.
The Lefferts Gardens location is reasonably easy to access by subway, and was a good launching point for wandering around Brooklyn.
Alex and Xan's home reflects their creative personalities, and is full of colour, life and charm. They were attentive, thorough and organised hosts who made our stay as smooth as possible.
Our only regret is not figuring out a way to claim squatter's rights and stay at Alex and Xan's forever. We look forward to making an excuse to return and visit again.
Our stay at 56 Hawthorne Ave., 2nd floor, suited our needs very well and met our best expectations. We found the living space as described and true to the photographs posted on airbnb. The location and amenities were more than satisfactory -- bedroom a/c, large, comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, a spacious living room, full bath with shower, and helpful neighbors in the building, etc. The use of a coffee-maker and the availability of fresh breakfast choices certainly helped us feel at home. (We hope that our hosts found the eatables and drinks we put in the frig as a small quid-pro-quot) when they arrived home after our departure. The detailed notes in the guest book were instructive and useful.
Alex and Xan were perfect hosts. The journey was easy and pleasant by the contact with Alex and the informations. It primarily made our journey extremely flexibly that the key was in a locking box. Even for a breakfast they already took care what was perfect after our long journey (Thanks a lot :)). The apartment was very proper and loves much fitted out so that we have immediately felt at home. The connections of the Prospect Park Station are fast and simple. We totally felt in love with the Neighborhood Prospect Lefferts Garden. The area is safe, is close at the Prospect Park and all people are very kind. In addition, the area has a special charm which has made our New York stay quite special. The neighbors are also very kind in the house and it was the best decision to spend the week in Alex and Xan´s Apartment . We can recommend this apartment absolutely.
One thousand gratitude to our hosts.
This was a great place to stay during our weekend trip to Brooklyn. We were happy to locate a nice and relaxing apartment close enough to the wedding. The neighborhood was safe and friendly, close to all that we wanted to see and do, and most of all, clean and comfortable. Alex was very accommodating and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend renting this apartment.
Originally from the Midwest, Alex and Xan currently reside in Brooklyn, NY and are working as dancers/choreographers/arts administrators. Check out the Median Movement for more information.
