Idyllic and Serene Guest Suite

House - Private room · Southfield Pl, Baltimore, MD 21212, United States

(Weekly/Monthly fees negotiable!)

I have a wonderful 4 bedroom home in a quaint, quiet neighborhood on the north side of Baltimore city which is filled with tree-lined streets and even a duck pond. While the neighborhood is serene it is also in close proximity to Downtown, the Inner Harbor, Towson Mall, Harbor East and the Marc Train to get you to DC.

I have a beautiful backyard that is in full bloom all spring summer and fall. There is a fully stocked kitchen which you are welcome to use and a washer / dryer in the home, two full bathrooms, TV's in both living room spaces with cable plus wireless internet throughout the house.

The Basement bedroom features hardwood floors, a Full- sized bed and has an adjoining bathroom plus an open secondary living room space which includes a wood burning fireplace. The basement space also boasts its own entrance for added privacy. The entire basement space could be rented out for an additional cost if you wanted more privacy. This listing is solely for the private bedroom in the basement and use of the other spaces (to share).

Waiting for you in the home:

As for me, I'm very easy going and keep myself very busy with work and my extra curricular activities. If you're only here for a day or two then chances are we won't see each other. If you're here for longer than we will probably cross paths.

I'm a little under 2 miles from the nearest light rail stop. I'm a few houses away from a major street that is frequented by major bus lines, such as the 8 which will take you directly downtown.

The Airbnb guidebook features some of my favorite restaurants and shops in the area as well as some of my favorite happy hour locations.

  • Portia is AMAZING! She is the perfect host, and the room is excellent. She has an amazing entertainment center in the basement that she is 100% ok with you using (and it has Netflix built in!)

I stayed with Portia for 6 weeks during a psychiatry elective at Sheppard Pratt hospital, and I would recommend her room to anyone who is considering doing any medical school electives in the area. It's so conveniently located (8 min drive), and all the stores you might need are right around the area.

I can't say enough good things about Portia and her roommates. They made me feel incredibly welcome. I had a new home for 6 weeks!

  • We had a very nice experience with Portia. The room was nice, warm and in a very inviting neighborhood. We took the park and ride to downtown Baltimore so it was very convenient.

    November 2013
  • Portia and her housemates were all friendly and helpful, and she recommended two excellent eating places. The house is in a quiet and safe neighborhood, and her household was quiet as well. We enjoyed a separate entrance, and the actual space you enjoy is larger than the bedroom and nearby bath--there is a large comfortable living area with books, sofa, and large TV. This is all in the basement, so there is some separation from the rest of the household.

We would definitely stay again if we came again to Baltimore--it's more like coming home than going to a motel.

    November 2013
  • This is a nice home in a quiet neighborhood, easy to park and drive to every place you want to go in Baltimore. Portia is very friendly and was solicitous of any needs we might have during our stay. The other renters were also friendly.

  • Portia & Deray are really swell people, and the acommodations were more than adequate...just off the beaten path enough to be sort of a quiet oasis, while still convenient to just about anywhere in B'more. I felt right at home here while I was looking for a permanent home. *Recommended*

    April 2013
  • I stayed at Portia's for 2 months and can only say positive things about the whole experience. The neighborhood is safe, the house beautiful and Portia is not only an awesome host, but also a great person all around. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone looking for a home away from home while staying in Baltimore.

    Response from Portia:

Was such a pleasure having you here. Hope you had safe travels back home and hope you keep in touch.

  • Once again, for the third time, I returned to Portia's place, simply because it is the closest experience to living at home. She makes you feel very welcomed and at ease at her home. I stayed there for so long that I find myself driving towards her place after work just off habit. I was so captivated by her home and the surrounding neighborhood that I ended up buyng my property very close (with a long walking distance) to her home. I will definitely be dropping by from time to time to say hi. For anyone looking, STOP! you've found the right host and abode in Portia and her home.

    January 2013
  • Portia is such a welcoming and friendly host that I keep coming back because I feel pretty much at home during my stays at her place. I always book the basement room because it is conveniently located near the shower, the restroom, the laundry amenities, the media entertainment, the kitchen and the exit. The neighborhood is also another reason I can't stay away, lots of trees, rabbits and squirrels scurrying around. In addition, Loyola, Notre Dame, and Johns Hopkins University are within a mile or 2 of her home. I would highly recommend Portia and her home to anyone looking in the Baltimore area.

    December 2012
  • Awesome house, great neighbourhood, fantastic host.
II can't praise Portia enough, I stayed a month and and wanted to stay a month more.
Now I'm back home I can't help but reminisce on the good times I had at this place.

Baltimore City Attorney
About
A little about me: I am a 29 year old attorney in Baltimore City. I love cooking and spending time with friends. I also really enjoy exploring Baltimore City and finding new places to experience and people to meet. Every other Thursday a group of friends and I get together and explore different happy hours around the city and then rate them on our blog, affecionately deemed The Happy Hour Crew. I enjoy hanging out in the back yard, gardening and cooking from my vegetable garden. I am a pretty laid back person. To be upset over what you don't have is to waste what you do have. Ken S.
