The Space

Painter apartment is comfortable and well-furnished providing spacious accommodation for up to 4 people . There is one double bedroom and a connected single bedroom . Being on the 3rd floor on an attractive and historic palace building with 2 lifts , the apartment has stunning views across the river Danube . The apartment building was one of Palatinus' places in the historic Jewish quarter , where old-time cafes and local restaurants bustle with local diners .
The apartment is quiet and central , with original features including enormous double doors , high , ceilings , a traditional ceramic stove for heating and big , sunny window giving a panoramic river view . Close to public transport links , cafes and restaurants , Painter is a great place to stay and enjoy the real Budapest

Comment : if you like to stay one or two night please , read the House rules !
Tourist tax not included in the price !

  • We had a great weekend in Budapesht, thanks in no small part to the apartment Janos rented out to us. The apartment is in a neighborhood just north of the Margaret Bridge on the Pesht side. It's a great location, with easy access to a great part of the city through the No. 2, 4, and 6 trams as well as the metro (just a bit farther away). The neighborhood itself has some excellent restaurants along pedestranized streets and is just one stop away from Margaret Island (perhaps my favorite place in Budapesht).

We tend to rent apartments on the fancier side, partly to minimize the possible "ick" factor of an unclean flat. The apartment is not that fancy but was perfectly clean, homey and comfortable--all well within our needs and at a very favorable price. Perhaps one of the best for-value apartments that we have rented.

I must admit that I was initially a little concerned about Janos as he seemed very focused on rules, fees, and other details about our arrangement prior to our arrival. I had visions of an overly punctilious individual who would make our stay less than pleasant.

What we experienced could not be farther from this initial impression. Janos is a warm, friendly individual who gets a lot out of meeting travelers from all over. On top of it he has thought through a lot of scenarios and has sketched out possible consequences if this or that occurs (as all landlords should do). Our check-in was rational, practical, polite, and entirely proper. As a lawyer, and as a traveler, I was quite impressed.

So, I highly recommend the apartment and Janos. We would definitely look to him first for any accommodations should we return to Budapesht.

  • Janos was a fantastic host, explaining our location and some great things to do while we were staying in Budapest. Location is alright. We made most of our own meals and the kitchen served us perfectly. The apartment does look a lot bigger in the photographs, but that's always the case isn't it?

Just remember to have a good look at the 'House Rules' so you are not surprised by all the extra charges when you arrive.

  • Janos was wonderful! He took a lot of time explaining to us all the good places to eat around the flat, as well as the best things to do in Budapest during our short stay. The flat was clean and well-maintained, and in a great location. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

  • We spent one week at Budapest. The stay at the apartment was great. Very good location (walking distance to Danube, subway station, nearby restaurant, supermarket).
The apartment is clean, well equiped (OK, we didn't cook and do laundry, but one can if you'd like) Wifi speed is good.
Janos is very helpful in giving us touring tips, recommendation for restaurant, bath etc. He also helped us in arranging transportation from/to airport. We also appreciated he let us to check in early in the day.

  • Janos was such a great host, he greeted us at an unorganised time after we had missed our train and was so helpful and responsive in ensuring we made it to his place ok. The place is even better, situated near the river it provides everything you need to discover budapest and still get a local feel. Janos sat us down briefly when we arrived and mapped out everything worth doing whilst in Budapest from the perspective of a local, mentioning touristic spots to avoid and great areas and places to hit up where there was a good vibe - considering i didn't have a very good idea what was worth while in budapest being my first time, this made a huge difference and something i'm sure you will appreciate also. The apartment has a classic feel with windows opening onto the street and view through to the river, as well as a comfortable bed in a really nice open space, nice bathroom, kitchen and everything you need to live well. Only downfall is the expenses you dont expect - wifi is charged daily, a tourist tax is charged for each day of your stay, and a security deposit on the day of check in (but i guess these things are small expenses that i think are ridiculous ha, but others would consider normal) Janos is a really good dude and you shouldn't look further for your next stay in budapest, cheers!

  • The location of the place is great close to the Danube and easy transport. The apartment complex is nice because of its history. The apartment is good, the beds are comfortable and clean. Maybe a bit of remodelation will be good but overall is good. We stayed 3 days and we didn't have enough supplies like toilet paper or coffee, I think that can improve for next time for other guest. Other than that Janos is a good host and we enjoyed our stay.

  • Thanks so much Janos and Joszef!

My folks and I spent a lovely 6 days in the apartment, which is wonderfully located about a block from the Danube and is clean and functional.

Our hosts were helpful and had so many insider tips on where to go and what to see.

Thank you as well for refunding our internet fee after the wifi broke down, it was very unexpected and was much appreciated.

Next time I am in Budapest, I will definately stay in this apartment.
