About this listing
Escape to this cozy apartment. Walk to the peaceful river/bay beaches and boardwalk in the quaint shore town of Ocean Gate. Also walk to hiking trails, 2 restaurants and a market! Easy drive to a number of other Jersey Shore Beaches as well.
**PLEASE excuse the backyard, it is under construction! I'm in the process of redesigning the backyard to include a fence, outdoor living area, kitchen, bar, hot tub, expanded deck and patio, pond, etc. Please excuse the view while a new outdoor oasis is being created for myself and my Airbnb guests!**
This is a private apartment in a detached garage in my backyard. It's on a quiet dirt road that backs to conservation land. This home is NOT on the water, rather it is a 5 minute walk to the pictures you see of the water.
Accommodates as many as 6 (which would be tight) with 2 on queen, 2 on full, 1 on twin and 1 on couch.
On the first floor is a full kitchen with range, oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, etc. There is also a custom made granite tile breakfast bar and a half bathroom on this floor.
On the second floor there is one large room with 3 beds (1 Queen, 1 Full, and 1 Twin) a couch and chairs, cable TV, DVD/BluRay player, air conditioning, and a bathroom with shower.
Cable TV includes HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Cinemax. ON-Demand TV and movie programming.
Interaction with Guests
I live in the house in the front of the property. I do work alot and go away on weekends, but do also spend a lot of time working around the house. So you may see me, and I would love to meet you! At the same time I am very respectful of your privacy and will not bother you. Though I'm always available to help if you need something!
Less than a 5 minute walk to bay beach and boardwalk in quaint town of Ocean Gate.
Twenty minute drive to the ocean (Island Beach State Park, Seaside Park, Seaside Heights, Ortley Beach, Lavalette, etc.)
Bring your boat! There is plenty of room in the backyard for your boat and trailer, and 3 ramps less than a mile away. You can get to the barrier island much quicker by boat (5 minutes on the boat vs 20 minutes driving).
Two great restaurants less than a mile away:
Water's Edge - WATERFRONT! Right on the Barnegat Bay, huge outdoor deck, arrive by boat, bike, or by car, live music daily in the summer, good bar food outside, and excellent fine dining inside.
Anchor Inn - WALKABLE! Awesome little place with great thin crust bar pies, and plenty of other good food. A Bar/Restaurant with character.
Yolanda's Riverhouse - WALKABLE - Decent place for a bite!
Toms River Park and Ride bus station is a 7 minute drive.
**** EASY COMMUTE FROM NYC ****
From Port Authority in NYC, simply hop on NJ Transit bus 319 or 137 for a nonstop, direct trip to Toms River Park and Ride in about an hour and 35 minutes for less than $20. Cabs are there waiting for a 10 minute drive to the apartment.
NO SMOKING IN THE APARTMENT!
I only hope that the apartment is left in the same (or better :)) condition as it was found. I don't mind people having a good time, but treat the place as if it were your own! Thanks!
Instructions for check in couldn't have been more clear, and it was smooth sailing even though Keith could not make it there to greet us. The place was clean and well appointed...everything you could possibly need is provided. The area is quiet and lovely ll (which you cannot hear inside the house). We met Keith on our sand the only discernible noise was from the nearby windmill. We met Keith on our second day, after a minor ankle sprain. Unfortunately, the refrigerator had ceased working, leaving us no access to ice but Keith provided a new refrigerator at once (the ice on the ankle worked like a charm). Keith is a warm and genial host and we would love to visit his place again!
The host, Keith, was extremely gracious and a great guy to speak with. The house was great and was exactly how it was described and the information folder with beach badges and information about hikes, beaches and restaurants was immensely helpful. My wife and I had a great time and we would definitely book the same place again!
During my family's two-week vacation, the best place we stayed in was Keith's place. This place much greater than it looks in the photos and it is super clean and cozzy. On top of the niceness of the place, Keith kindly lend us his crabbing gears and we had great fun with it. Me and my family recommend this place with immense confidence!!
Keith is a great host and his apartment is a really nice place to stay. Walking distance to the bay, bar, restaurants and store. He has a book on the kitchen counter with all of the info you would need for restaurants and some things to do in the area with maps showing the locations. He even provides beach passes for his guests.
I will defanatly stay here again when I'm back in the area.
Thank you Keith
Can't recommend this place enough. Great location, wonderful space, quiet neighborhood. Keith put together a binder of maps and recommendations, so you'll never lack in ideas of what to do or where to go next. He had some flexibility on our date of departure, and let us stay well past our checkout time, to get more beach time. Much appreciated!
We had a great experience staying in this quaint bay house! We only stayed 1 night due to the fact it was booked the following night, but we would have stayed longer. Keith was super thorough and thoughtful, including beach passes and parking pass, maps, dining suggestions, and much more. Sleeping arrangements were comfy and kitchen well supplied with utensils as well as miscellaneous food items left by past guests. Close to the bay, not a long drive to the beach. Would definitely recommend and will try to come back next year :)
