About this listing
Situated on a working farm in an elevated position above the Vale of Strathmore, Ardormie Farm Cottage is an ideal base to relax and explore this wonderful area of Scotland. The cottage is light and airy with open views over the countryside.
A cottage in the countryside with wide open views. Ardormie Farm Cottage is cosy in the winter and has a great little patio for sitting outside in the summer. Everything you need is right here; a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower overhead, cosy sitting/dining room and a little kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and all you need to make your stay just perfect.
We have just installed a new biomass boiler so the heating is provided from an entirely renewable energy source. Radiators have been fitted throughout and there is a thermostatic temperature control so you can set the temperature to suit. There is a washer/drier and outside in the steading the wood pellet boiler is heating a drying room which you are welcome to use for any wet outdoor gear.
The cottage is on a working farm. My neighbours breed and train sheep dogs, it's fascinating to watch them at work. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect of rural Perthshire - mountains, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet. This is a great place to be based as there is much to explore.
The place is yours to enjoy. I live next door and I'm really happy to help with any questions you may have, there is also lots of local information available in the cottage. Although, sometimes I'm not at home, maybe I'm off staying in an airbnb somewhere else!
Guests have access to some wonderful open countryside. The Cateran Trail goes right through the farm and offers good well marked walking routes.
The cottage has it's own garden but there are no fences and guests are welcome to use the trampoline and the washing green. If you have a dog and want to keep it within the whole garden you are welcome to shut the gates into my courtyard and this should make it secure.
Interaction with Guests
I'm always happy to help and answer questions and live right next door. Equally, I'm very happy to leave you in peace and everything in the cottage is pretty much self explanatory.
I ask that guests leave the cottage as they find it, clean and tidy.
Well behaved pets are welcome but not on the furniture please. Also they have to be kept under control when outside.
My husband and I stayed in the farm cottage for 6 nights and had the most wonderful, relaxing time. The cottage provided everything we needed for a self catering stay. It is situated a short drive from shops, restaurants and attractions, but to be able to sit outside for breakfast and , look over the hills and grazing sheep was magic.
We highly recommend the cottage to anyone who wants a getaway in the middle of Scotland.
Thank you Jill for making such a great place available to us.
Our stay at Jill's cottage was perfect, despite some imperfect weather. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and is supplied with everything you could need.
Jill herself was not there, but her lovely neighbours who are looking after the cottage made us most welcome. There was a very detailed binder about the cottage, and another one with excellent local recommendations. Jill left us a welcome gift of raspberry jam and handmade soap, and contacted us midweek to make sure all was well.
I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Thank you so much!
Jill was not there to welcome us but she left everything ready. The Farm Cottage is just what you would want for a few days sojourn on a farm, or longer if you have the time!. It is rustic on the outside and clean and modern inside. It had everything we needed and we had a lovely experience of Scottish farm life. Thank you Jill!
It was so lovely meeting Jill and staying at her cottage. She was very friendly and helpful upon arrival and even brought over some flowers and raspberries as she was leaving town the following day!! I enjoyed the cottage very much. It's beautifully decorated and I felt very much at home during my stay. The nearby towns have much to offer; there are even hiking trails literally a few steps from the front door. I also enjoyed getting to see the sheep dogs in action; Very interesting and entertaining. Being out in the country was relaxing and exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend staying at Ardormie cottage and I loved exploring that part of Scotland. Thank you for everything Jill!!!
Our stay here was absolutely magical. We loved the space and the location. I would highly highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a rural getaway near wonderful hikes. We also were incredibly charmed by the farm and dog center next store. Jill was prompted and helpful via phone! The cottage is adorable and the amenities first class.
Many thanks Jill for the use of your lovely Ardormie Farm Cottage, for the bluebells in the bedroom and the delicious raspberry jam.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay, lucky enough with the weather to enjoy sitting out in the garden enjoying the view, listening to the birds and keeping an eye on the thrush that had nested in the rose bush beside the door.
Watching the sheepdogs being trained on the farm next door was an added bonus and we made some very pleasant trips out into the nearby countryside, feasting on local strawberries and asparagus.
Absolutely lovely, thank you!
Margaret and Geoff
About the Host, Jill
Hi, I'm Jill. I discovered Airbnb when I visited America with my daughter. We stayed in some lovely places and I decided when I got home that it would be a good idea to list my own self catering cottage with Airbnb.
I live in a beautiful place with wide open views. Ardormie is a working farm so be prepared for sheep, dogs, chickens etc. The farm doesn't belong to me but I am lucky to have some friendly neighbours.
It's fairly quiet around here which suits me fine. I am however always happy to chat and if you need any information just let me know. As the cottage is self contained and self catering you are free to come and go as you please.
