Situated on a working farm in an elevated position above the Vale of Strathmore, Ardormie Farm Cottage is an ideal base to relax and explore this wonderful area of Scotland. The cottage is light and airy with open views over the countryside.

The space

A cottage in the countryside with wide open views. Ardormie Farm Cottage is cosy in the winter and has a great little patio for sitting outside in the summer. Everything you need is right here; a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower overhead, cosy sitting/dining room and a little kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and all you need to make your stay just perfect.

We have just installed a new biomass boiler so the heating is provided from an entirely renewable energy source. Radiators have been fitted throughout and there is a thermostatic temperature control so you can set the temperature to suit. There is a washer/drier and outside in the steading the wood pellet boiler is heating a drying room which you are welcome to use for any wet outdoor gear.

The cottage is on a working farm. There are sheep, cattle and working sheep dogs.. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect of rural Perthshire - mountains, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet. This is a great place to be based as there is much to explore.

The place is yours to enjoy. I live next door and I'm really happy to help with any questions you may have, there is also lots of local information available in the cottage. Although, sometimes I'm not at home, maybe I'm off staying in an Airbnb somewhere else!

Guest access

Guests have access to some wonderful open countryside. The Cateran Trail goes right through the farm and offers good well marked walking routes.
The cottage has it's own garden but there are no fences and guests are welcome to use the trampoline and the washing green. If you have a dog and want to keep it within the whole garden you are welcome to shut the gates into my courtyard and this should make it secure.

Interaction with guests

I'm always happy to help and answer questions and live right next door. Equally, I'm very happy to leave you in peace and everything in the cottage is pretty much self explanatory.

Perfect cosy in a lovely secluded spot with a great view. What a great place to just get away from everything and relax in the countryside. While the cottage is pretty secluded it's only a short drive (5 mins) to nearby Alyth which has a really nice CoOp where you can everything you need. If you wanted more choice then there is a big Tesco in Blairgowrie which is maybe another 10 mins. The cottage itself has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is just so cosy when you close the curtains and put the fire on. We would be very happy to stay here again.

Ardormie Farm Cottage is just beautiful! The cottage is located in a beautiful, secluded spot with spectacular views from each window and is stocked with everything you might need for a cosy weekend away. There are miles and miles of beautiful walks right on the doorstep, including the hidden Reekie Linn falls (and I'd absolutely recommend a visit to the Peel Farm Shop en route for supplies of local honey and rhubarb gin!). Jill was the perfect host - easy to get hold of and incredibly friendly. We will absolutely be back!

I have said it once, and I will say it again, Jill's cottage, special touches, and hospitality are exactly why we use AirBnB!!! The cottage is beyond perfect for long and short stays. We took advantage of the well-appointed house and the Cateran Trail! We have fallen in love with the countryside, Alyth, and its people. Jill has a lovely book of local attractions from sight-seeing to golfing to hiking to dining; however, because her cottage was beyond perfect, we opted to stay close using the trail (which is quite literally in her backyard), the town of Alyth and Blairgowrie for the butcher and groceries, and then back to the cottage for an early evening in to enjoy the terrace, the scenery, and the cottage. Our regrets are we did not get to chat with Jill or book our stay for longer. I am beyond words for Jill's piece of heaven on earth! Oh, have the ocean, mountains, country, and cities in all close proximity to one another! I cannot choose "the perfect place" in Scotland, but Jill's country cottage is at the top of the list!!!

This beautiful cottage is everything and more than you could hope for - beautifully furnished, comfortable bed, extremely well-equipped kitchen, lovely toiletries, stunning views and peaceful location. Jill, our host, was very friendly and made us welcome with home-made tablet and a kind handwritten note. She was knowledgable about the area and had plenty of advice on places to visit. A place definitely worth returning to.

The cottage is very idyllic situated in a wonderful valley near Alyth. On the pastures sheep and cattle graze, it is relaxing, peaceful and quiet. The apartment offers all the comforts of a large cozy bed, a beautifully furnished living room, bathroom with bathtub, a practical kitchen, TV, good interception and above all an incredibly beautiful terrace with a magnificent view over the landscape. Jill was a very warm hostess and we would be delighted if we could one day visit her again and stay at the Adormie Farm Cottage.

Jill User ProfileJill is a superhost.

Hi, I'm Jill. I discovered Airbnb when I visited America with my daughter. We stayed in some lovely places and I decided when I got home that it would be a good idea to list my own self catering cottage with Airbnb.
I live in a beautiful place with wide open views. Ardormie is a working farm so be prepared for sheep, dogs, chickens etc. The farm doesn't belong to me but I am lucky to have some friendly neighbours.
It's fairly quiet around here which suits me fine. I am however always happy to chat and if you need any information just let me know. As the cottage is self contained and self catering you are free to come and go as you please.
