About This Listing
Situated on a working farm in an elevated position above the Vale of Strathmore, Ardormie Farm Cottage is an ideal base to relax and explore this wonderful area of Scotland. The cottage is light and airy with open views over the countryside.
A cottage in the countryside with wide open views. Ardormie Farm Cottage is cosy in the winter and has a great little patio for sitting outside in the summer. Everything you need is right here; a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower overhead, cosy sitting/dining room and a little kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and all you need to make your stay just perfect.
We have just installed a new biomass boiler so the heating is provided from an entirely renewable energy source. Radiators have been fitted throughout and there is a thermostatic temperature control so you can set the temperature to suit. There is a washer/drier and outside in the steading the wood pellet boiler is heating a drying room which you are welcome to use for any wet outdoor gear.
The cottage is on a working farm. My neighbours breed and train sheep dogs, it's fascinating to watch them at work. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect of rural Perthshire - mountains, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet. This is a great place to be based as there is much to explore.
The place is yours to enjoy. I live next door and I'm really happy to help with any questions you may have, there is also lots of local information available in the cottage. Although, sometimes I'm not at home, maybe I'm off staying in an airbnb somewhere else!
Guests have access to some wonderful open countryside. The Cateran Trail goes right through the farm and offers good well marked walking routes.
The cottage has it's own garden but there are no fences and guests are welcome to use the trampoline and the washing green. If you have a dog and want to keep it within the whole garden you are welcome to shut the gates into my courtyard and this should make it secure.
Interaction with Guests
I'm always happy to help and answer questions and live right next door. Equally, I'm very happy to leave you in peace and everything in the cottage is pretty much self explanatory.
I ask that guests leave the cottage as they find it, clean and tidy.
Well behaved pets are welcome but not on the furniture please. Also they have to be kept under control when outside.
We totally enjoyed the farm cottage. Would have loved to stay longer, it was just what we needed after busy London. It's a great spot to set off on a daily drive. Lots to see. Highly recommend Jill's cottage as a get away.
Fabulous, everything was as advertised, Jill was very helpful both before the stay, on arrival and during. We unfortunately did not get to meet Jill but she had left contact numbers and had arrangements in place for anything that may have arose.
And her directions were so good we found it with no problems and no sat nav!!
The cottage was idyllic, clean, comfortable everything and more we may have imagined before our stay.
2 nights were not long enough and we will be back to be able to visit more of the beautiful surroundings with a fabulous place to stay.
This is a beautiful cottage in a spectacular setting. The accommodation is very comfortable and had everything that we could possibly need.
We had a wonderful time in the cottage. It really is a gem and we wished we could have taken it with during our travels through scotland. We felt at home immediately. The view is just amazing and Jill was a perfect host.
Amazing cottage, with everything you could possibly need, Jill was fantastic and a great host, we spent most of our time enjoying the local hills so didn't make full use of the facilities at the cottage - it's absolutely beautiful, we had read about the Sheepdog training next door and where told about the dogs barking, but it's not really noticeable, it is fun to watch though - the I can't comment enough on how fantastic it is
Jill was very welcoming during our stay and provided us with a great recommendation for a local restaurant. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped with everything you need and has lots of information on what you can do locally. It is located on a farm with lovely views of the valley. I would recommend a stay at Ardomie to anyone who looking for a lovely relaxing holiday in beautiful Scotland.
About the Host, Jill
Hi, I'm Jill. I discovered Airbnb when I visited America with my daughter. We stayed in some lovely places and I decided when I got home that it would be a good idea to list my own self catering cottage with Airbnb.
I live in a beautiful place with wide open views. Ardormie is a working farm so be prepared for sheep, dogs, chickens etc. The farm doesn't belong to me but I am lucky to have some friendly neighbours.
It's fairly quiet around here which suits me fine. I am however always happy to chat and if you need any information just let me know. As the cottage is self contained and self catering you are free to come and go as you please.
