Large loft in the brownstone neighborhood of Boerum Hill. 2 Bedrooms, one with a studio loft. Custom furniture, open kitchen. Super convenient to all subways this side of BK. At the crossroads of Park Slope, Ft. Greene, Downtown BK, Gowanus and more.

The space

Stay in our large, comfortable and just custom-enough loft apartment in Boerum Hill, one of the most convenient, safe and lively neighborhoods in Brooklyn.

Nearly 1,000 sq ft, open floor plan, well-lit and easy to live in. We have a mix of antiques and handmade furniture, found art and art made by the hosts, an open kitchen with built-in bar, a lofted bathroom, dining space for 10 and plenty of greenery.

* a common area with large living space, sectional couch and converted church pew bench
* a well-stocked kitchen
*a memorable, and fully functional, bathroom. The elevated toilet (steps included) is more like a throne and the shower features an eye level window to the apartment. Close it off if you are shy or keep an eye on your boiling pot in the kitchen.
* large screen TV with Apple TV
* the most convenient location in Brooklyn? See below for long list of nearby subway lines

Originally a factory (textile and paper likely) the building was converted to apartments about 30 years ago. It retains a bit of an industrial feel and it's rough around the edges while being comfortable on the inside. It's true NY style living and that's what we love about it.

The loft is on the third floor - the top floor of the building. It gets great light, but can get hot in the summer. We have plenty of fans and there is air conditioning in the bedrooms.

Boerum Hill is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Brooklyn. It’s filled with beautiful brownstone/ town homes on tree-lined streets, neighborhood storefronts and amazing backyards if you can get invited into one. Be sure to wave if you see our favorite neighbors Keri Russell and ???. Our block is on the edge of Gowanus and a little grittier, but that's what you get when you live in a converted factory. It's safe and worth it for the extra space.

Smith Street is the main strip in Boerum Hill which has been referred to as Brooklyn's "restaurant row" - ton of restaurants, bars, boutiques, markets and coffee shops. Court Street is one block further and boasts even more shops, restaurants and a Trader Joes. On the other sides are 5th Ave in Park Slope, Atlantic Avenue on your way to downtown Brooklyn and the Barclays Center, and the Gowanus bars and restaurants of 3rd Ave.

The best thing about this neighborhood is that on top of being an outstanding neighborhood, it’s completely surrounded by the other best neighborhoods in Brooklyn. We are a short walk from Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights and up-and-coming Gowanus.

We are not exaggerating; the apartment is probably in the most convenient location in Brooklyn. The apartment is just a 5-10 minute walk to:
Atlantic Avenue / Barclays Station

We loved this place! My husband, two adult daughters, and I spent the Christmas holiday weekend here and it was exactly what we needed. Kevin and Casey greeted us at check-in and we immediately felt at home. It was a perfect home base for doing stuff around Brooklyn, but it was also wonderful for lazy family time. We cooked, played/made music, watched movies, slept in...and never felt crowded. Fabulous. It's not easy to find a reasonably priced rental in Brooklyn with this much space and style, and in such a great location. The photos are accurate: It's cheerful, bright, clean, the beds are comfy, and the bathroom is wonderfully weird. (Said baño would not meet ADA standards by a long shot, so not for anyone with balance issues, but everything functions as needed!) It should also probably be noted that the building exterior and stairwells are quite gritty/industrial. BUT, if it was snazzier, K&C could have easily priced it beyond our budget, so the exterior grit was fine by us! I could go on about the charms of this apartment and it's owners, but will leave it at this: We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Just as listing, this loft is a rare find. I seldom book places with 2 reviews or less, but after looking at so many different airbnb places, my roommate and I decided to take a chance. I have to say that that was one of the best decisions I made while in Brooklyn. Kevin and Casey were on a trip on the day we came in, but they made sure that they had a friend come and let us in. They left detailed information about the loft and even about great restaurants in the area and cool things to do and see. They were great hosts, checking up on us whenever they had wifi. We had a chance to meet them in person on our last night. They were just as wonderful and sweet as we imagined them to be. The loft itself is HUGE and yet warm. You could tell that a lot of care went in it. The two bedrooms are widely spaced apart. Allowing for privacy. Both bedrooms and beds were well kept. The living room has the most wonderfully comfortable sofa. There is a large work desk for two side by side behind the sofa. Basically, the loft had everything you could need and want, including a washer and dryer that are only shared by the neighbor that lives next door. If I ever return to Brooklyn, I would definitely want to stay at Kevin and Casey's loft once again.

Kevin and Casey live in what we think is the best place ever. So much so that it's hard even imagine ever leaving NYC. Sometimes we dream of other places but then we say...but how could we leave this apt?

Kevin is an industrial designer with experience building sets for Lady Gaga music videos, painting portraits of his past roommates and constructing lots of furniture for the apt. Casey is a public service consultant who currently splits his time between NYC and LA. He insists on keeping the apt filled with plants even even if he isn't always there to water them.

We both love semi-healthy food, karaoke, biking, running and more recently surfing in queens.
