8 of my friends and I rented this cabin with the simple goal of getting out of town for the weekend. The cabin is incredibly spacious and has a wonderful kitchen where we spent most of our time, cooking and eating. The bedrooms were lovely and the fireplace was a lovely touch. The only bad part was that we couldn't stay longer!
The cabin and all its amenities exceeded our expectations. Everything was cozy, clean and very comfortable, the house is clearly well maintained. Marilyn was very easy to deal with and responded to emails promptly, really flexible and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for the birthday memories!
The house was beautiful, clean and well-stocked and Marilyn was very helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
Thank you Marilyn! I stayed here with 10 friends on our way to Yosemite. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended.
The house was nice, but I had a very negative experience with the host. I feel she was emotional and unprofessional regarding a rental deposit dispute.
This is a beautiful home - and we had a wonderful time here. We were 10 people - three families - and the rooms were all charmingly decorated with some of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. (And we are world travelers, European residents and used to good quality.) The house has all the comforts you need plus it is homey and comfortable. The patio was fantastic for grilling and family dinners, and drinking morning coffee in the sun. We really felt that Marilyn was entrusting us with her home (not just a rental space) - and the beautiful quilts and luxurious towels made us feel - well, special. We spent a lot of time making home-cooked sit-down meals -- so we were really impressed with how well equipped the kitchen is. I also appreciated that there was ample dish washing soap, dishwasher soap, plenty of kitchen towels, lots of toilet paper, even things like hand lotion and a lot of other little things that many other rentals or hosts don't always think about. We normally live in Austria and Switzerland, so we really mean it when we say that this is top-rate. Thank you Marilyn for everything!
From start-to-finish, our experience at the Sierra Mountain House with *Hot Tub was absolutely excellent.
This was the first time that I used airbnb, and I felt immediately "at home" with Marilyn's prompt confirmation for my stay and warm emails. The house was even more inviting than its pictures. My husband and I rented the home to share my birthday with our three adult children and one daughter's boyfriend.
There was plenty of room, the home was clean, welcoming, and well appointed. The outside decks were amazing - very private and really made you feel as if you were "in the midst of the woods," while you had the comforts of home nearby.
The weekend was relaxing and the best way to spend my birthday and time with our children.
Though I never met Marilyn, between her emails and welcome text, I felt as if she was never far away if we were to have needed her. I highly recommend this home and we look forward to spending more time here.
We stayed at the Sierra Mountain House for four days over the July 4th weekend and it was the perfect setting for a family gathering, plenty of privacy but also lovely, inviting communal space. We made gourmet meals in the well-appointed kitchen, then had long dinners on the outside porch. Marilyn was extremely responsive; if you want to know whether you need to bring your own olive oil (or anything else for that matter), just shoot her an email and she'll reply in minutes.
During the day we kayaked at Pine Crest Lake, swam in the lake, fished in some nearby streams, and hiked on the Trail of the Gargoyles. This is the perfect spot if you want quality family time in a great setting away from the hustle and bustle of more urban living.
From the start of planning our family's 6-night getaway for 7, I felt reassured, thanks to Marilyn’s pleasant and timely responses (by phone, email & text). But stepping into the house itself truly confirmed my hopes. Cleanliness is at the top of my list; I was instantly at ease: Clean kitchen, clean linens, clean toilets & sinks. The house was orderly, well-stocked, well-appointed, and incredibly comfortable with lots of wiggle room for everyone to do their own thing. Set amidst pines and redwoods with a bubbling hot tub in the back and a huge, woodsy deck for BBQing in the front, a short-drive to gold-rush towns below it, a picturesque lake above it, magnificent Sierra hiking everywhere, near a surprisingly good Mexican restaurant with strong margaritas in Twain Harte, a day trip away from the bodacious, jaw-dropping winding road to Sonora Pass, this place did the trick! I know I could have stayed longer---it was hard to leave my cozy bedroom with my own reading balcony. My family thanks you so very much, Marilyn. ¡Hasta la próxima vez!
The house was exactly what we'd all hoped it would be, and exactly as advertised. Usually when you rent places like this, you're disappointed when it doesn't match up to the photos - not so with this house!
We rented Marilyn's house for Memorial Day weekend with a few other couples and friends from grad school - it was the *perfect* space for hanging out together. We cooked a lot of great meals in her beautiful and thoughtfully-stocked kitchen. Every time we said, "I wonder if she has ____", it was there! Beds are comfortable, place is quiet and beautiful, the deck is a place I could spend all day lounging (the grill is great!), and we had three happy nights catching up around the fire.
We spent the days hiking around PInecrest Lake, a gorgeous spot about twenty minutes up the pass where there are good hikes including one to a stellar swimming hole, Cleo's Bath. Weather cooperated, but even if it hadn't we would have been happy with our choice.
Marilyn was attentive and helpful without being overbearing - she checked in on us via text message halfway through the weekend, which was great although we had no problems to report!
Thanks, Marilyn! We hope to be back.
