We paid for the space, which we got, but the cost was a long walk from the subway and a very noisy corner (although the white noise machine in one of the bedrooms was a huge help). The building is old and a bit run down (and not in the East Village but in Alphabet City so you don't get that trendy vibe) but we never felt unsafe and the apartment itself has what it says it does - the basics with no frills. Communication was a bit challenging towards the end but key pick up was easy. Personally I don't think the value for money is great here given the distance to the subway especially but maybe this is just us and our bad luck in having bitterly cold weather and snow to walk through.
The listing was exactly like the posting. There were two bedrooms with queen beds, a small living room/sitting area and a small kitchen/bathroom off the entry. The walk up is easy (two flights). The apartment is a couple blocks from restaurants. We walked west on Houston to Clinton for coffee at the Atlas Coffee shop every morning - they seemed to have the best grip on good coffee in the area. We ate at many different places throughout lower-mid Manhattan and Brooklyn so we can't comment on the local restaurants. The Essex market (Houston and Essex) was close and a good place to pick up groceries. Matthew, the host, was responsive to texts when we got there and was helpful. All the arrangements went smoothly despite our later arrival.
Matthew's 2 bedroom in the East Village was great! Super clean, very cool, spacious apartment. Super close to tons of great places including St. Marks Place where there's tons of trendy bars/nightlife. No issues on the day getting to/in the apartment either.
Appartement confortable, bien équipé et de style typiquement New-Yorkais. A 10/15 minutes à pied du métro dont les lignes vous mènerons aux endroits stratégiques dans Manhattan et Brooklyn.
Un super souvenir pour la famille.
The apartment was really cosy and well equipped. It is perfect for two couples due to the two nice bedrooms.
The bathroom could use some refreshing.
The neighborhood is lively with nice restaurants close by. The subway is also not to far (10 min walk).
We didn't see Matthew, but the handover of the keys was very smooth and he answered always very quickly.
We would definitely recommend this apartment for a trip to NY!
Matthew is the best host. He was in the apartment when we arrived fixing the last details. The apt is as described and very cozy. The neighborhood is very interesting too.
We stayed as 4 in this apartment. Matthew had explained every detail in advance so we did not have any problem. He was responsive and helpful. Flat was in good condition and well equipped. Towels were clean. Beds were very comfortable.
House is in the exact location where address says so. Very feasible for the ones who wants to hang around East Village. Its easy to pass to Williamsburg as well; costs 10 dollars by cab. 5 minutes to Subway.
Overall we were absolutely satisfied and we would definitely recommend to our friends.
