About this listing
Imagine staying so close to the heart yet able to enjoy & explore more interesting places than just the CBD, with great cafes & food, famous Melbourne coffee, live music spots & attractions then coming home to a comfy home in walking distance :)
PRICE DISCOUNTED FOR A LIMITED TIME!
Hi there, and welcome! :) Come, imagine staying in a spacious, quiet, very safe, creativity-filled, lovely 2 story townhouse that is also home to my well-established, highly respected and much loved business, Pro Expression Music School & Creative Alliance. I have a professional consultancy here (not what you'd think of a typical music school with people wondering about and random noises - this is the headquarters administratively and for just certain lessons whilst most of my teaching team teach elsewhere, and anyone coming here is booked by appointment only, so it's usually a tranquil atmosphere perfect to ease your senses after your busy days out and about).
You'll GET THE HOUSE TO YOURSELF most of the time except for a few hours a week of private music lessons at this current time whilst I myself am currently overseas. You will have notice of when these happen and apart from keeping common areas clean and tidy you may use the space yourself all other times :)
FOR YOU: Enjoy sleeping on a king single bed in your own room with a desk and lamp and a window to our quiet residential street, space to enjoy lazing in your room with room for all your bags and clothes, settle in with clothes hanging space and shelves and a nice big clean bathroom, fresh sheets and towels provided.. perhaps curl up and read on one of the comfy couches in the main room with the sun streaming in through the big windows, whilst using free and fast wifi; perhaps make yourself a snack in the clean, fully equipped kitchen, retreat in the afternoon to your room and be gently serenaded by music by a teacher and student in the other room singing or playing a piano or guitar (with your door closed not much sound gets through at all) or come join us for a choir rehearsal* in the main room downstairs (*seasonally).. You may even like, at the beginning of your stay or prior booked, to organise a private singing or instrumental music lesson with me or one of my specialist teaching team for during your stay if you like! We are the specialists in adult music education in Melbourne (- lesson fees apply).. Perhaps you feel like venturing out, with easy access to city tours and to the Great Ocean Road etc through one of the tour companies in town, or exploring the neighbourhood and the vast number of wonderful offerings, from warm homey cafes, pubs and bars serving awesome coffee, generous servings of fantastic food within 2 minutes walk, see a local band play of an evening within 5 minute walk, check out one of the many surrounding parks, the Melbourne Zoo, Botanical Gardens, a football or cricket game, a local farmer's market, or do some window shopping for goods or food from the shopping districts at each end of our street.. Our place is also extremely convenient for students, lecturers, visiting nursing students, nurses and doctors, or students of the Savoury School, Melbourne University and the Royal Melbourne Hospital being within 20 minutes walk or a minute tram ride.. we even have a Chocolate/ pastry school, great local breweries and coffee roasters within minutes walk! And all the cafes have fabulous all-day cooked breakfasts and sweets to die for.. You can't ask for better location for easy access to everything you could possible want, need or have a craving for! :)
As our guest, you will be looked after by me personally via media as well as my teachers there in person, with contact details shared (after booking confirmation), and a warm friendly welcome, check-in and settle-in.

Interaction with Guests
I like being social, however interaction can be as often or sparse as desired by the guest, or as little. Generally I'm in and out at various hours of the day and night so after properly meeting and getting-to-know a little at check-in time it depends on schedules and guest's comfort :) I'm always contactable though by phone for any questions/ advice :)
PS: I am currently overseas so you get much of the house to yourself, much of the time! I am always contactable via (website hidden) and through here, and I give you the details of my manager who's one of my main teachers in my school who will welcome and settle you in and be your immediate point of contact should you need anything :)

Other Things to Note
Now accepting longer time stays of up to 2 months as of 2015. FROM MID JANUARY 2015 - JANUARY 2016 GUESTS WILL HAVE THE HOUSE *MOSTLY* TO THEMSELVES as I'll be overseas for a while. In this time, there may be the occasional other Airbnb guests in the upstairs room, a couple of my lovely and trusted teaching team letting themselves in and out to teach students for a few hours (mostly in the afternoons) on some days, my PA or my friendly brother who'll be welcoming and checking in guests into my home on my behalf and cleaning vacated rooms/ watering plants/ replenishing stock/ helping you get acquainted with the area and Melbourne highlights!
I do have fast WIFI available FREE to guests upon request and note that free WiFi is also offered at all the cafes nearby too! You are so close to central Melbourne and the most happening parts of town that you really have EVERYTHING you could possibly want, need or be curious to check out for a night out around town, without being 'stuck' within the mayhem and you can retreat to a quiet, calm, secure and comfortable place to lay your weary head :)
We were in drought for many years here and water restrictions are in place still in parts of Melbourne. Please respect water use and do what the locals do and limit showers to 5 minutes.
Please also turn OFF ALL appliances and heating/ fans when you leave the premises.
Security and cleanliness are paramount. Please be courteous and treat the place with the same care you show your own property please, or more ;)
W love having guests, especially great ones! A few important things though we'd like you to note and respect please:
1. A CHECK-IN TIME NEEDS TO BE BOOKED AHEAD OF ARRIVAL & ADHERED TO, so that we can let you in and where you'll be shown around properly and handed over the keys. [$30 fee is charged for lost keys, even if they turn up later. ] As I am currently overseas, I need to ask my one of my lovely teachers or my PA to come and check you in, so your respect of time is appreciated.
2. No friends, relatives or guests of yours allowed in this house at any time. No parties or get-togethers. The front door and security door must be LOCKED AT ALL TIMES for security and peace of mind, and with respect to our instruments and equipment, privacy of my space and business, and your things too!
3. Noise and interruption to lessons to be kept to a minimum (lessons may be a few hours on a few days of the week - again, we'll let you know when these will happen in advance with respect to you too).
4. The kitchen and main space are open-plan, so please do NOT cook or prepare food in the kitchen during these few hours. (Rarely though would lessons be during lunch or dinner hours anyway) :)
5. Respect our neighbours - even as a music school we have a long-standing, excellent reputation and rapport with our neighbours, so please don't ruin it by playing really loud music, ESPECIALLY after 10pm.
6. Our musical instruments are costly and are not toys (even fun-looking percussion instruments) so please DO NOT TOUCH without permission. If you ask, or are a musician, I am very happy to allow use. But if you break anything, you pay for it.
7. Hiring a room in my house means you are a welcome guest and have been chosen to be able to stay (we don't allow just *anybody* you know..), so please respect space in the house with regard to others. Don't touch, open, or fiddle with anything you do not have specific permission to do so in terms of instruments, cupboards, looking for internet modems or checking out other rooms expressly asked not to enter or not told you can. A breach of this will result in negative feedback and/or an immediate cancellation of the remainder of the booking if this rule is disrespected (and we are not obligated to return fees other than those stated in the cancellation policy). I'd like to think I only have well-intentioned guests who stay happily at my place :) just as I look after and respect each person whom is a guest in my place as best as possible. Thank you :D
SPECIAL NOTES FOR YOU:
We want you to be able to retreat to a quiet, calm, secure and comfortable place and truly enjoy a comfortable stay as our guest so that you come stay each time you travel to Melbourne. In fact we even give special rates to those for second + stays ;)
We look forward being your host!
Christina did a great job ensuring that I'd be welcome and have an easy time finding the place and taking advantage of the area. Brunswick has numerous great restaurants and it's super easy to get into the CBD on train or tram. The house has everything you need to be comfortable and settle in for a stay of any length. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
Christina's room is in a great location and a safe neighborhood. I stayed for 4 nights for a work trip and Christina was helpful & accommodating. I would recommend this place for a convenient Melbourne stay with great local transport nearby.
I stayed for 9 nights and had a really wonderful experience. Christina, and her mum Lisa, were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
I spoke to Christina before I arrived, and she suggested a wide variety of things to do during my stay - I tried out a number of them and had a great time.
The accommodation itself is great - Positioned within 5 minutes walk of the nearest train & tram stations, and there are shops and bars within easy walking distance (but far enough away that you can't hear them at night!). The room was comfortable, and all the facilities were first class.
10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Melbourne.
Really confortable room, Christina is an excelent host. She really helps you with everything, if you are lost, need something or need advice. Christina will explain you step by step. I totally recommend this place if you want to stay at Melbourne.
Thank you so much Cristian, I'm so glad you had a wonderful time, it was an absolute pleasure to host you. I hope to always have guests just as lovely and respectful of my place and tidy as you! Hehe
Regarding the garage key, as I'd said to you I didn't want to have anything put in my garage due to it being my private storage but I hope you were more than happy with the option I gave you to store it elsewhere more convenient . ;)
Super convenient place with tram and train access ... Safe & quiet neighborhood (even when coming back alone late at night) ... Private room & almost-private bathroom ...
Totally enjoyed myself staying w Christina who was very accommodating and I loved listening to her share about her travels and passions! Definitely would wanna stay with her again the next time I head back to Melbourne!
I had a very lovely stay at Christina's place for 45 days for my coffee venture in Melbourne. The public transportation both Tram and train was very convenient to access to the town, also had two direct buses to go to Fitzroy and High St where is very fun for cafe crawling. Christina was very busy lady but she kindly gave me an advice and recommendations whenever need. Most of all, I truly appreciate her great hospitality and friendship, lots of talks and laughs, and I start missing the time in Brunswick with her so much.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Even though I made every effort to communicate, help and accommodate this guest, there was unfortunately too much of a language barrier to understand necessary instructions and it was deemed that he was not an appropriate fit for my place where safety, security (and comfort) is of utmost importance to me.

About the Host, Christina
Hello :) I'm Chriss, pleased to make your acquaintance!
As a long-time professional classical/ opera singer, multi-instrumentalist and bona-fide academic music nerd who runs a specialist music school , teaches by day and perform large concerts, gigs and corporate functions by night, I tend to either be energetic, lively and talkative or deep in thought and on my own. I'm also an experienced NLP Master Practitioner/trainer with a great interest and experience in performance psychology, and a specialist hypnotherapist helping people 'Quit Cigarettes In 60 Minutes, Lifetime Guaranteed'.. so if I can can help you with anything during your stay - to quit cigarettes, or to enhance your breathing and posture, to help you with public speaking/ singing anxieties, or to teach you to sing or play piano, percussion etc, you are welcome to book an appointment with me ahead of time too :)
I very much enjoy company, love having fun and sharing laughs, am an excellent conversationalist and LOVE sharing travel stories and hearing all about others' adventures (and misadventures!) , but also know when to keep to myself and let people enjoy quiet times too. I have spent a lot of time living, traveling and working abroad in Greece (just returned from a 6 week trip there!), Italy, France, Switzerland, England, Wales, Thailand, South Africa, Zambia and the USA, I am always up for a drink and chat about traveling. Where are you from and what are your favorite destinations? :)
I am also a massive movie buff and being from Melbourne originally (and having a Mediterranean background) we are all foodies here! You will be spoilt for choice in this area..!
I have always been considered a great host to many friends and warm to fellow travellers quickly being a very avid and experienced traveller myself. As a musician, proud Melbourne resident and quasi-tour guide to friends who have come and stayed with me over the years, I would be absolutely delighted to give you information and guidance on all there is to experience in this amazing city and how to get around... Time permitting I'd be very happy to take you out and show you around too or for a night out on the town.. But I am also sensitive to your wishes and will otherwise be happy to leave you to your own devices unless asked for assistance :)
Please note, as my place is a very popular Airbnb house, I do have another room available (so two in total) in my house in Brunswick.. One with a king single bed, little tv, desk and share other facilities for c.$50-59 per night (listing here entitled 'Comfy, convenient, half the house!'), and the other upstairs room is a lovely master bedroom with queen size bed and private ensuite bathroom for $59-$69 per night, (entitled 'Comfy, convenient, secure, lovely!')
Some points on housekeeping: Have a fully functioning and well equipped kitchen but don't tend to cook much due to long or strange working hours but you are welcome to make use of it all during your stay! :) ..as long as noise (and pungent aromas) are kept to a minimum and just as other common areas including bathroom are to be cleaned up by you directly after use.
Strictly no guests or pets allowed.
Please be respectful regarding looking after property, locking up properly, keeping noise to a minimum at night especially, and replacing anything you damage.
Keep the keys safe.. Losing them will incur a $30 replacement fee for inconvenience/ possible changing of locks.
