Our stay Glamping at Karen and Chris's was absolutely fantastic! After arriving, we spent the evening with a bottle of wine relaxing in their nest down by their stream. Karen and Chris did a fantastic job touching on every detail. Sitting in the nest down by their waterfall was incredibly serene. You can only hear the sound of the water rushing down the creek. What a way to enjoy a nice bottle of wine! Finishing up the evening by our fire with two frosted mugs of local beer couldn't have been better. Not to mention having the best night of sleep I have ever had. Serious. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Thanks so much Karen and Chris! Very inspiring. We will most definitely be back.
John and I had the most amazing time glamping in the Columbia Gorge! It's not very often when a place far exceeds our expectations and this place did just that. The teepee was huge, the kitchen was beautifully made with an amazing view of the Gorge, and the property was just amazing. Had we visited during the warmer season, we definitely would have spent some time by the creek where they set up a bed for visitors to relax on. We love to camp but we figured that was out of the question, me being pregnant and all, so we figured this would be the perfect getaway for us. We really didn't need to bring half the things we packed because Karen and Chris provided all the essential necessities. They are two of the sweetest people you will meet and they were perfect hosts. Not to mention they have the most adorable dogs! Theo is definitely having Julio withdrawals ;) We look forward to visiting again!
This property is beautiful! We had a little trouble finding the place and Chris was immediately available to help us out and get us a beer! Great view, perfectly stocked kitchen, it was chilly but the heater in the kitchen and heated blanket in the teepee kept us more than warm! Wish we could have stayed a bit longer and enjoyed a nice hike and the fire pit!
We had a great time at Karen's and Chris's place. The Teepee is amazing. An open kitchenette, waking up to incredible views, and the awesomeness of sleeping in a Teepee? Highly recommended. Everything was exactly as Chris and Karen had stated in their posting. Great people and a great place
This spot is amazing! Great home base for adventures in the gorge. One day we explored the breweries of White Salmon and Hood River, one day we went on a long hike. Returning to Chris and Karen's at the end of each day to enjoy wine and play backgammon by the fire was a luxury indeed. Everything you need is provided which makes for a stress-free getaway. We pulled up behind Chris and Karen on the Bridge of the Gods on our second day and when we got to the toll booth the lady told us that they had paid our toll! Great people, great spot, great experience. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Our hosts were both such lovely people. I wish we would've booked a longer stay. Even though it was freezing at night in the teepee there was a heated blanket that they put in there that made it seem all toasty warm! Really, they have thought of all the details and have made an effort to think of everything extra you may need. I can't wait to stay there again and explore in the summer months :)
Could not have asked for a better experience for my fiancee and I to experience the Gorge for the first time than our time at Karen and Chris's awesome set-up. Prior to the trip, Karen gave some great recommendations on hiking locales, all of which were amazing. We spent the rest of the day checking out local breweries as well as a hot springs resort nearby (which itself was a little bit... rustic?), before ending the night with a pint of local beer about the campfire. The morning brought with it a little rain, but the teepee kept us dry and warm throughout the night with the aid of a heating blanket. Karen and Chris were both warm and gracious hosts, and we would not hesitate to visit them again on our next trip to the Northwest!
Our glamping experience was superb. Better than advertised and the glorious photos don't lie. It helped that it was unexpectedly pristine weather, but I imagine the coziness of the tipi or the stream-side Nest would be stellar in a storm. When we arrived, we watched a lovely, well fed deer cruising about the garden. She was clearly used to visitors and seemed content on merely making the scene all the more bucolic. Karen and Chris's friendly dogs joined us the perfect amount of time, though we would've been happy to play with them for hours. Our fireside stargazing (in October! on a New Moon phase!) was romantic and showering outside brought back lovely memories of doing so on Maui, where it was only a wee bit warmer. For chilly nights, bring your warmies and prepare to cuddle outside. You won't need anything extra to enjoy this thoughtfully appointed, brilliantly planned, well decorated space.
This is a wonderful place...it's too bad the weather decided to downpour on us! But, we were ready: we had our laptop and wifi so we cuddle in our tipi at night and watched movies. Since we didn't want to rain to ruin our experience, we even went down to the creek for a cold dip! Chris and Karen were so nice and gave us wonderful brewery suggestions...and pumpkin cake! We definitely want to take advantage of all the property has to offer so we hope to be back in the summer, guitar and violin in tow!
