About This Listing
Annie's Cottage is charming and cosy. It is located on our small farm with direct views of the sea and Slieve Mish mountains. Four acres of fields surround the cottage, some containing our friendly donkeys and lambs. Inch beach is just 10 mins. away.
ANNIES COTTAGE is a warm comfortable detached stone cottage located near to the sea at Inch on the Dingle Peninsula.
It is conveniently located (no more than 30 minutes drive) for Killarney, Dingle and Tralee. It comprises three bedrooms and has spectacular views of mountains to the rear and the sea (Castlemaine Bay) to the front.
It is situated next to the owners farmhouse and their smallholding comprising donkeys, sheep and chickens, together with four acres of grounds.
A river runs through the property and access to the mountain behind is possible via a small country lane adjacent to the cottage. Inch Beach with it's four miles of white sand and dunes(and increasingly a surfing and paragliding mecca) is no more than 15 minutes drive whilst the beauty of Killarney National Park and it's lakes are also within easy reach. Dingle Town is also no more than 30 minute drive and the whole of the Dingle Peninsula is easily visited, using the cottage as a base.
A local grocery shop (8am to 10pm, daily) is 2 mins. by car. A further cottage on the farm - RIVER COTTAGE - is also available for rental. Dogs are welcome.
All our guests are welcome to wander around the 4 acres and especially say hello to and feed the donkeys and lambs . The mountains behind and the sea in front can be accessed from the door of the cottage via a small walk in each direction
Interaction with Guests
We live in the farmhouse next door and are on hand to help with any advice needed (or to lend the odd food ingredient). We enjoy talking to our guests but are wary of the need for guest privacy as well. We are usually around most days to feed the animals and maintain the garden and grounds.
This is a spectacularly beautiful part of the world whereby you can see the sea and mountains from most parts of the Peninsula (as well as the kitchen!) and experience the real sense of rural Ireland. The people living here are hardy and friendly and the pubs are lively and fun. Traditional music and Guinness proliferates!
You need a car to fully enjoy the beauty of the Peninsula. No public transport exists except linking the local major towns but trains run to Tralee & Kilarney and flights go into Kerry Airport (20 mins. away)
Other Things to Note
The cottage is ideally placed for those wishing to see both KIllarney National Park and the Ring of Kerry as well as Dingle and the whole of the Dingle Peninsula.
Please refrain from smoking inside the cottage. We would also ask that you do not feed our domestic pets such as the dog and cats. Our donkeys, sheep and chickens are happy to indulge in food tasting sessions, however!
Please also take off your outdoor shoes & boots when entering the living room or any of the bedrooms. Thank You
Great cottage and great location for exploring the Dingle Peninsula, which was also one of the highlights of our trip! Nick, along with the pets, were very welcoming and helpful with area info and points of interest. Very cozy and loved the movie and book selection for spending an evening inside. Would definitely stay again on a trip back to Ireland!
Nice, comfortable, well situated little cottage, well appointed upstairs...we loved the bedrooms upstairs with the opening skylights. Great selection of DVDs and books for anyone planning for a longer stay. Nice large open kitchen.
We were greeted by a very friendly dog and cat who were always around to say hello which adds to the country cottage atmosphere, not to mention the sheep and donkeys.
Nick and Anne were great hosts and passed on very helpful local knowledge. The walk up to the top of the hills behind their cottage offers fantastic views of the peninsular and is well worth doing if the weather permits.
Michael and his family certainly made use of their limited time here on the Dingle Peninsula, whilst staying at Annie's Cottage. Our animals are friendly alright but are disciplined enough to know when to keep their distance! The mountain behind the cottage, Caherrconree, is the 4th highest mountain in Ireland and a beautiful walk (not a climb) and the promontory fort on the top is well worth a visit!
We stayed three nights in Annie's cottage this last week. The cottage is very warm and cosy. All appliances are available and everything is extremely clean. The location is idyllic with donkeys sheep cats and a dog for company. Nick was extremely helpful even giving us a lift to collect our car after a hard night in the local pub. The cottage is only 15 mins from Inch Beach which is stunning. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay while exploring The Dingle Peninsula.
Nick and Ann were very hospitable and approachable. Having told Nick we were intending to eat at Foley's (a local low-cost warm and friendly bar/restaurant beside the sea) we arrived to find a table reserved next to the fire in the corner of the room. We were surprised to find it was for us as we were feeling a little envious. The cottage itself was delightful and benefits from skylights in the master bedroom giving a view of the stars on a clear evening. The donkeys weren't long eating all the carrots!
Thanks, Albert & Michele. This review actually refers to Annie's Cottage which is located on the same smallholding as River Cottage and therefore benefits from the same donkeys, lambs and friendly host services! We've had that comment about the stars before - I must try it myself.
Annie's Cottage was a beautiful place to stay in a gorgeous part of Ireland. We not only enjoyed the house, but the donkeys, sheep, dogs and cats also added to our experience. (If you're planning to stay, think about bringing carrots for the donkey brothers!) Recommended!
Annie's Cottage is warm and welcoming, charming and comfortable. Our hosts, Nick and Anna were equally so. The location is exceptional, with spectacular views on both sides. Close proximity to Dingle, with lambs, donkeys and beautiful walks onsite. We had a wonderful time (most especially our two young boys) and highly recommend Annie's Cottage or any property offered by Nick and Anna.
