The Bothy cottage in the Cotswolds

House - Entire home/apt · Cheltenham, GL54, United Kingdom

The Space

The Bothy is a conversion of a 17th Century Cotswold stone stable and a 20th Century kennel building.
On the ground floor is the living room with a beautiful wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable double bedroom and a modern shower room. Whilst upstairs, which is accessed from a narrow oak staircase, you can find the twin bedroom. The living room has been fitted to retain all its original features and is furnished in period style. I have included many Georgian and Victorian pieces and have also included a large settee and two arm chairs, dining table and chairs for 4, corner cupboard and a dash of the 21st Century with a Sky television.
The Bothy is beautifully situated in the Postlip Coombe on the leeward side of the Cotswolds highest hill and yet only minutes from Winchcombe, a classic Cotswold "wool" town, renowned for its excellent shops, restaurants and architecture.

  • The Bothy Cottage was picture perfect and couldn't have been more happily situated! Mark was great to work with, and his neighbor actually helped us out tremendously with directions. The place was better than described and he put up a cot for our fifth person. Plenty of room and hot water, cozy little fire, and close to the village and long walks. He had maps available of the area and recommendations! This place was a haven of rest and tranquility and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • We had a lovely stay at The Bothy cottage, it really was the perfect get away from London! Mark truly does go out of his way to make your stay great.
We visited the beautiful village of Bourton, highly recommend it. It was pretty busy for a small village (we went on a Saturday) but it is so pretty, especially in the sunshine.
If we ever want to get away from the rat race of London, we would definitely consider coming back to The Bothy.

  • The cottage was small and cozy (or cosy if you're British!), and the landscape was beautiful. Mark was very welcoming and we had a great stay.

  • Wonderful and delightful. Warm cosy, and what else is to say. Wood burning stove, and fresh eggs.

Mark is the perfect host, he made contact very quickly, and welcomed us personally when we arrived, even suggesting a driving tour we could follow. The Bothy is a gorgeous retreat to stay, with everything available. Central heating, washing machine, and a wonderfully large and efficient shower.

We were only able to stay two nights, but those two were very memorable. Even the bad weather did not really spoil our break.

  • The Bothy is a beautiful place to spend time. Very clean and nicely furnished. There is so much to see and do in the Cotswolds but the Bothy was so cozy we found it difficult to leave, especially once we fired up the wood burner! Mark was really easy to deal with, he stopped by during our stay to check we were happy and was really nice. Overall I can highly recommend the Bothy as a place to relax and explore the Cotswolds.

  • Really lovely location and cottage had a great time here with my family before Christmas. Did not get to meet Mark but he left us a list of tips and villages to visit in the cotswolds which was nice. Also set up the cot for our toddler. Would stay here again if we make it back to the cotswolds one day.

I have lived in the Cotswolds all my life, except time at university, where I run my holiday cottages and look after our horses the rest of the time.
