For the 2026/27 season, The Artist’s Cottage is becoming a small, intimate garden property with two self-contained cottages and a new 5 x 3m swimming pool.

The space
The Artist’s Cottage is the original home at the heart of our tropical garden sanctuary.

The sustainably restored 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom villa has a large, well-stocked kitchen, unlimited filtered drinking water, comfortable indoor and outdoor living spaces, a dedicated workspace, books, art supplies and musical instruments.

Surrounding the house is a sprawling tropical garden and organic fruit orchard filled with palms, Ayurvedic plants and quiet corners to read, work or relax.

For the 2026/27 season, the property is entering a new chapter. Two beautifully designed, completely self-contained cottages are being added within the grounds, together with a new 5 x 3 metre swimming pool and poolside lounging areas.

The Artist’s Cottage remains entirely private for you and your group. The pool and garden are shared with the small number of guests staying in the two additional cottages.

Our vision is a tiny tropical village rather than a hotel — peaceful, creative and intimate, with each home having its own sense of privacy while sharing the garden and pool.

Our wonderful local chef can also arrange Sri Lankan rice and curry deliveries, private meals and cooking experiences during your stay.

LOCATION:

Goviyapana is a peaceful residential pocket of Ahangama, away from the louder bars and nightlife while still being close to surf, cafés and restaurants.

There is a large schoolyard across the street where local kids sometimes play cricket. Monkeys regularly move through the surrounding trees, and the birdlife is incredible.

• 600m to Lighthouse surf break — around 2 minutes by scooter / 7 minutes walking
• 2 minutes to Ahangama cafés + restaurants
• 8 minutes to Weligama Beach
• 15 minutes to Midigama surf spots
• 25 minutes to historic Galle Fort

Guest access
The Artist’s Cottage is rented as an entire private 3-bedroom villa and is ideal for families and groups.

Each bedroom has its own private bathroom and porch area, while the living room, kitchen and verandas offer plenty of space to gather, cook and spend time together.

Guests have exclusive use of the entire villa, as well as access to the shared tropical garden, swimming pool and poolside lounging areas.

Other things to note
The villa has two air-conditioned bedrooms and one bedroom with high-powered fans. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom.

The property is currently being completed for the 2026/27 season, so some older photographs and reviews show The Artist’s Cottage before the addition of the pool and two new cottages. We’ll continue updating the listing with new photography as the transformation is finished.

Ahangama West, Southern Province, Sri Lanka

Goviyapana is the most upscale neighborhood in the Ahangama area. It is quieter than most other neighborhoods as there are no bars or clubs playing loud music nearby.

There is a large schoolyard across the street and the local kids sometimes play cricket there. The monkeys are always happy to call the trees around us home. And the birding is absolutely next level.
