But sometimes when you feel relaxed and comfortable somewhere - it's nice to be busy doing nothing at all in Kalkan.
Alison was a pleasure to liaise with from beginning to end. Super friendly, communicative, helpful and always very quick to respond. Her house in Kalkan, Old Town is fabulous and extremely well equipped - and larger than we were expecting - with both a wonderful roof terrace and a shady eating place in the street outside which is also a great place to meet locals, visitors and the many cats and dogs that meander the streets looking for a soft touch. We really enjoyed our stay - and would take friends with us next time! A heartfelt thank you for a great experience at a time when we really needed to chill out from the stresses back home.

If you are traveling in Lycia, and looking for a decent base...many would choose Kas, but Kalkan its neighbor is quieter and perhaps is, what Kas was many years ago.
Kalkan is a sweet little turkish fishing village on the Med Sea...cobalt blue waters...with Patara and Kaputas beach, a whisker away. If you want to dive, the local dive school based at Kalamar bay is good and have experienced divers around.
'June's Evi' is where we stayed, a beautiful little house on one of the main longitudinal streets leading to the harbour..very central to the shops, eating joints, in the heart of the old Kalkan town.
The hosts are Irish and very warm people..they left us a home to ourselves, fully equipped & comfortable with 3 rooms...it was almost like we walked in to our own house in Kalkan. Comfortable stay...we had local help from friends of the host in Kalkan. June & Alison, the hosts, left us with a lot of notes and to do things..and places to visit etc which made life simple.
I would definitely recommend staying with them at the beautiful house in Kalkan.

About the Host, Alison
I am a dentist working in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. I am English and moved to this wonderful city 7 years ago so I know it pretty well by now. I also have a home in Turkey and travel there as often as I can to pick up some sun....although the weather in ireland is better than its reputation suggests and I have very many sunny mornings drinking coffee on my balcony with great views as far as the Wicklow Mountains and the Dublin coastline
I love to travel and when I am visiting somewhere - I prefer to spend time getting to really know somewhere rather than passing though it, and Dublin certainly deserves more than a passing visit and has a lot more to offer than Temple Bar and the Guiness Factory!
I speak Spanish fluently, have a smattering of french, german and turkish - but I can usually find a way to communicate and connect with people wherever I am in the world. I enjoy live music, theatre and film. I am happy wandering or traveling alone - but also love to spend time with my dear friends and meeting new people.
I can't live without good coffee, an internet connection, my dearest friends and family ...... and the freedom to travel and get away from all of the above from time to time ;)
I enjoy traveling including planning trips as often as possible - but once I am away I try to be spontaneous and flexible and take things as they come.....whats's it like to have me as a guest........well hassle free I hope;)
....what's it like to stay at my place - well I would say its relaxed and easy going, with as much or as little conversation and privacy as you choose....
