The space

The apartment is located in the city centre of Lisbon, in a quiet, typical neighborhood with lots of restaurants and 3 minutes walk from Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's busiest Avenue, with its high-end stores, theaters, bars, metro station, main bus-lines and Aerobus (bus shuttle to and from the airport). The apartment is also within walking distance to most of Lisbon's sight-seeing spots and popular areas like Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto, Príncipe Real, Castelo and Marquês de Pombal.

The apartment, built in the early 1900’s was completely renovated in 2012. The bedroom and adjoining living room has two windows with lots of sun light and looks out over Lisbon’s rooftops. It has an independent fully equipped kitchen with it’s window facing the sunrise. The apartment is on the 4th floor and has no elevator.

Helena's place is in a great location and is really clean and cosy. Her dad checked us in and was very friendly and accommodating. Helena sent a guide to visiting Lisbon which was really helpful. I would highly recommend staying at their apartment. Thanks for a lovely stay :)

The place is conveniently close to the center of Lisbon. All in all a great place if you like living amongst locals and want an authentic experience of the city.

The loft is awesome! Clean, comfortable, and modern. The loft is a great space to have to yourself in what feels like a quintessential Lisbon neighborhood situated near hospitals, traditional and contemporary eateries, and access to Metro (or a short walk to downtown). Helena and her grandparents were generous and kind. I am so glad we stayed here! Highly recommend.

We were greeted in the street by Orlando (which saved us the trouble of finding the place) and he was kind enough to climb one of our (heavy) bags (four stairs). The place is nice, a good size for a couple. It is right under the roof so beware if you are a bit tall. Beautiful view to Lisbon from the bedroom. The street is close from the very sophisticated and expensive Avenida da Liberdade but in a very different neighborood, much more local. All shops are available in the vicinity and the subways stations are nearby. Many nice places are reachable by walking. (If you don't know Lisbon, be reminded that streets are steep. You have to climb from the subway.) The street is quite animated in the evening. Also, there is a sport field on the other side (the kitchen) so it may be noisy when people are training. (I think it is quite common in Lisbon.) It did not prevent us to sleep, the place is quite sound-proof. The Wifi works fine, if you're interested in staying connected :-) I also appreciate the well-written and comprehensive written documentation, something which I find very rare with AirBnb (while it is frequent with Homelink).

Orlando was very welcoming and took the time to explain everything. I have been in places where they just throw the key at you and leave, here it was a totally different experience. Helena's booklet is a valuable resource to. When you stay in this place you are among the regular folks of Lisbon, including the nightly conversations outside in the street, the little shops, the laundry in the windows, etc. I loved it! It felt very safe, and you are actually just a 2 minutes walk from the glitzy Avenida with its designer stores, and only a short walk down Avenida to Rossio. Don't forget to buy chestnuts from the guy at the entrance to the Tivoli Theater.

We had a great time, the apartment is just as described. The neighborhood is calm a and in the city center. It was a 7 minute walk from the house to the subway station. We met Helena's grand parents that were very welcoming.
