My family and I had a wonderful, peaceful stay at the Quinta de Luna--the house is comfortable and lovely, and it is in a spectacular setting. We were surrounded by nature, it was very quiet, and the stars were incredibly bright at night. We went in December, and were happy that the house has excellent heating. Javier is a great host--he was there to greet us, and to say goodbye. His friendly and helpful assistant Paqui was always available if we needed anything. We spent an afternoon in Valencia de Alcantara, the nearest town, which has an Gothic-Jewish quarter and a beautiful church, went to see the castle of Albuquerque, and also to the castle of Marvao, over the border in Portugal, a wonderful excursion. There is a lot more to see in the area, and we would all like to go back sometime.
