About this listing
Gorgeous 1904 brownstone located in the architecturally stunning Ledroit Park neighborhood on the vibrant U street corridor. Ledroit Park is DC's new "it" neighborhood. The area has been featured widely due to the many new stylish restaurants and bars opening up on our door step. Bistro Bohem, Shaw's Tavern, Mockingbird Hill, Eat the Rich, Right Proper Brewery, Brixton Rooftop bar, Dunya, Flash, Dixon's wine bar are a five minute walk away.
The newly renovated Howard Theater, which opened in April 2012, is across the street.
You are a 5 minute walk from two metro stations, and one block from the G2 bus stop which takes you directly to Dupont and Georgetown. A Capital Bike Share station is across the street from Shaw/Howard Metro. This bike sharing concept is popular in major cities, including Paris: swipe your credit card, take your bike, and drop it off at any station in the city.
Your new home is located on the same street as jazz legend Duke Ellington's child hood home. Renovated home is beautifully appointed with bamboo wooden floors, marble counter tops, exposed brick wall, and an "English" garden. Home is furnished with modern and tasteful furniture and art.
In both bedrooms there are memory foam mattresses (a number of guests have told me these are the most comfortable beds they have ever slept on.) I also have an air bed if you need to accommodate an extra guest.
Street parking is never a problem (complimentary visitor's parking pass is available). Home has complimentary wireless Internet, washer/drier, flat screen tv and Appletv. Towels and bed linens provided. You will immediately fall in love with my home and neighborhood.
My neighbourhood offers convenient and quick access to Dulles and Reagan Airports. If you are arriving/departing Dulles Airport, consider taking the 5A bus (45 minute ride and approx $5 each way vs. $70 each way in a taxi cab). The 5A bus arrives/departs from L'Enfant Plaza metro station, conveniently located on the green line (the green line is a 5 minute walk from my home at Shaw/Howard metro stop.)
If you are departing/arriving Reagan Airport, take the yellow line to the airport. The yellow line also runs through Shaw/Howard metro stop. Trip to the airport is about 15 minutes by metro.
I am also less than one minute metro ride from the Convention Center or a ten minute walk. Check-in is 4pm, but guests are welcome to arrive later in the day.
When staying at the house, you agree to the following:
-Turn off air conditioner when out of the house.
- NOT to have more people staying in the house than originally agreed unless
-NOT to leave permanent damage to any furniture or personal belongings
(otherwise appropriate reimbursement will be expected)

We stayed in this lovely home for Christmas week while in town visiting family. It was perfect! The property is exactly as described in the listing. It is well appointed, bright and comfortable. Ideal for two couples. The neighborhood is charming with plenty of great near-by places to eat & drink. Public transportation to all DC attractions is close and easy. Our host David was the best! He was very helpful and accommodating even to the point of responding quickly on Christmas eve to help us through a small problem! We could not be more pleased with the stay and recommend it to anyone visiting DC.
What a fantastic place to stay in DC. The location was super cool and close to great spots in the U Street Corridor. I loved the decor (that head vase) and the exposed brick and the fact that it was 2 stories made staying with a co-worker totally comfortable. Would definitely stay here again :)
Everything was exactly as described. David responded to messages right away, but we never saw him. The place was very clean. Parking was super easy and the neighborhood was great. We had a great stay!
Quiet neighborhood that had easy access to metro lines to the National Mall. We felt safe walking around and enjoyed the local restaurants. I wouldn't describe the apartment as "5 Stars in the City;" however, it was completely adequate with everything we needed. As we were 2 couples with babies, I really liked that both the bedrooms were even. Getting the keys was easy and David was very responsive.
We loved this quiet and super cozy apartment! Everything was spot clean and the neighborhood really quiet. The metro station and bus stops are just a few blocks from the apartment and about 15 minutes to get to the city center.
We didn't have the chance to meet David but we were able to ask him questions over the phone about everything, and he always responded really quick. We even allowed us to keep our luggage at the apartment after check-out time because our flight was departing late.
The kitchen is fully equipped, so we took advantage and cooked breakfast and dinner almost every day.
We truly recommended this beautiful apartment if your are staying in Washington DC!
My mum and I had a wonderful time in Washington, not least because of Davids great apartment. It is very conveniently located at one of the main metro lines which we used a lot. The neigbourhood was clean and safe, with plenty of small restaurants to eat out. The apartment itself is very stylish, clean, with all the useful kitchen gear etc you could possibly need. A fantastic place to stay, just the right thing if you are coming home from a busy day sightseeing in the city. Thanks a lot!!!
