This craftsman bungalow has a bit of vintage charm (and hint of mid-century flair). Enjoy close proximity to beaches, the university, and downtown, while relaxing in a comfortable family friendly home and peaceful flower-filled garden.
Come enjoy a long weekend or longer vacation at this family friendly home.
If you haven't been to Santa Cruz, it's time for a visit. Between the beaches, surfing, mountain biking, hiking, good music, and wine tasting (80 wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains), it makes for a great weekend get-away.
This picture perfect craftsman bungalow is a private home with three bedrooms one bath, hardwood floors, fireplace, vintage eat-in kitchen, off-street parking, and high speed internet (no TV). The house is centrally located approximately 1 mile each to the beach, the boardwalk, downtown pacific avenue, and the university. Ride your bike or take a bus (5 min ride) to any of these locations. The bus stop is right in front of the house. There are several great restaurants, coffee shops, organic food store, an amazing chocolate shop, and other amenities within a quarter mile. There is also a pub and half a dozen wine tasting rooms within a mile. (Walk Score of 79).
The flower filled garden/back patio is private with gas bbq, hammock, and outdoor seating. Available to guests are two surf boards, and multiple kids toys bikes/scooters/wagon, etc. There's a bike shop a couple blocks away (Another Bike Shop) that rents out bikes. Two indoor/outdoor cats also live here and will need food/water and an occasional pet. :)
The house is set up with one adult and two kids bedrooms (toddler bed and a twin bed). There is an additional queen size air matress is also available if needed.
It is available most weekends and holidays, and for some longer periods.
full house, garden, laundry room
There is a bus stop in front that can take you downtown, to the beach or up to the University. there are also bike rentals nearby.
We live here! Please leave it as clean as you found it. 2 cats also live here and will need to have food and water. They are nice. More details are provided in the House Manual, accessible once your booking is confirmed
I wasn't sure whether or not to leave a review. I wanted to love this house. I thought Micah was easy to communicate with and the house looked perfect in the pictures. Generally, the house didn't disappoint. It is in a great neighborhood, walking distance to many things, including the boardwalk if you are up for a bit of a longer walk. The house was clean and quaint and light. I only had a couple of issues (reasonably large issues). 1. They advertised sleeping for 5 (and actually more...a full-size bed, a pull out couch that sleeps two, a children's single bed, AND a queen-size air mattress). Well, the day before we went to stay, I was informed by Micah that the pull out couch is no longer available. I felt a bit misled by this. At this point, if this didn't work for us, I couldn't very well make other plans (on a summer weekend in Santa Cruz). We made it work with the options we had, but I felt like the cost for staying here was a little high for having no choice but to sleep on an air mattress. 2. We were expected to feed the cats twice a day and change the litter box. Don't people get paid for pet sitting? Why was I paying almost $400 a night to pet sit? 3. There were no towels. Supposedly, there were some in the linen closet, but it was stuck shut so we had to call our family that was coming later and ask them to bring towels. If we paid $400 a night for two hotel rooms, we would have had real beds, towels and no cats to pet sit. On the other hand, we couldn't have sat in a bright kitchen at a kitchen table and chill with the family, so the house still had its perks. It was definitely a cute house and generally clean and bright. But I don't think it was worth its price, given the things I've mentioned above. For a couple (even one with one young child) who brings their own towels, the house would be perfect. But not the right place for a family of five adults.
The reservation was canceled 24 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This is a lovely place. Our kids really enjoyed their stay as they were able to play with the toys and run about in the garden - these are luxuries in a long trip with lots of travelling and moving. Every time we left the house they just wanted to go back :) Micah was very friendly and the house was great for us.
ENGLISH: We stayed 2 days with 2 adults and 4 children. The house is very comfortable, Micah and family live here and we feel at home! A large room for parents, a single bed and a small bed in the so cute children's rooms. If necessary, the sofa can be transformed into bed. And a awesome little garden with a beautiful lawn, hammock, big nice cats, toys for children, etc.. The house is located about 1 miles from the beach (about 20 minutes walk). One warning: it's quite noisy at night due to a bus stop and Bay Street fairly busy.
This home IS adorable. We stayed in Micah's home for the weekend with our three lively boys. It was perfect for us...clean, homey, well kept but not sterile. Plenty of toys in the backyard to keep them occupied. I appreciated the fact that whoever lives here has a green thumb...lovely garden in the front and back! And Piezo and Darci the cat where wonderful house companions...although they may have been a little freaked out by our boys. :)
There is no TV in the house which was not an issue for us, but you may want to know this up front...the street is a main thoroughfare, (a straight shot to the beach) but still has a very neighborly feel. Walking distance to Mission, which has plenty of eateries and shops. It was a great stay and if we take another trip up to SC, we hope to return to 1515 Bay St.
We really enjoyed the Bay Street house. It worked out perfectly for us and our family. We found everything we needed for our stay. The house was very comfortable and sunny. The cats, Piezo and Darcy, were darlings.

We are a family of two professionals, both working for environmental non-profits, and two toddlers. We're outdoorsy and enjoy many of the activities afforded to us in Santa Crus (biking, surfing, hiking, camping, gardening etc.) as well as traveling and adventure. This is our permanent home, which we love, but it is available many weekends, most holidays, and possibly for longer periods during the summer months.
