We live in an amazing place! Our home is situated on 2 acres near the National Forest. We are a 5 minutes walk from the trail system and a 10 minute drive to Downtown Flagstaff. The family loves to meet fellow travelers.
Our family built this house together. We started with an empty lot and spent 4 years working on it full time. We basically built the entire house ourselves. We were not experienced, but learned as we went along. It is built of SIPS panels and utilizes passive solar. It is on a 2 acre lot, 5 miles from downtown Flagstaff. The front yard is Buffalo Park, a 215 acres park with a 2 Mile loop trail. 1/2 a block away are the National Forest Trails.
The house is made of many reclaimed materials. The exterior is trestle wood, from the Great Salt Lake and the counters in the kitchen are old train car floors. The wood floor is all reclaimed and the lights are made of whatever we could find. The house is very open, with a commercial kitchen you can use. There is also a commercial espresso machine. The patio looks out onto McMillian Mesa and Buffalo Park.
The house is filled with eclectic art from our travels and friends. Some of the furniture is made of left over material from our building project.
The room available is at the end of a long hall. There is an adjacent bathroom that is tiled in green glass. The bed is the most comfortable bed in the house. We decided to list our house after meeting so many great people that stayed at our Art Gallery through Airbnb.

We just stayed for a night at Kari's place... Everything was clean and the house is amazing ;)
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Kari and Jeff. They were very welcoming and made us feel at home. We enjoyed some red wine with them in the evenings and loved hearing all of their traveling stories. A truly inspiring family! They were also a great help with our itinerary letting us know which hikes were the best.
Their house is amazing and we slept well in the comfy bed. We would definitely stay there again.
Thanks Kari and Jeff! We had an awesome time in Flagstaff!
I had a quick trip through Flagstaff and Kari's home was a nice retreat, the location was convenient and access to the trail was nice after the drive from the Grand Canyon. The room was clean and comfortable, the overall space has an open feel and the artwork adds a worldly feel to the space. Very pleasant stay, thank you for your hospitality!
We enjoyed our two night stay with Kari and her family. We had snowy weather and they were very helpful preparing us for it. The house and surrounding forest was beautiful.
What a wonderful experience! Nestled in woods, but only 10 mins from Flagstaff, this is such a peaceful and natural place to stay. Kari and Jeff are great hosts, full of knowledge of the nearby Grand Canyon, and with a near inexhaustible supply of travel stories.
Kari and Jeff are great hosts and have a beautiful home. I took a quick trip to Flagstaff to escape from the city with my friend for a quick two day trip and was very lucky to have stayed here. It was very peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. Kari and Jeff had some lovely stories to share and were so accommodating to us. They recommended places to eat, drink, and hike. All great recommendations. They also made us coffee in the morning which was fantastic. If you're lucky enough to get the chance to stay here definitely do so. Wonderful people. Wonderful place.
Amazing coffee, conversation, and accommodation. The house is a work of art and full of art that you can't help but admire. We didn't meet Kari but Jeff (and both kids) were engaging hosts. We had a dynamic and diverse conversation. And the recommendations on places to eat in Flagstaff were just as delightful. It was wonderful to meet such a welcoming, well traveled and talented family.

Long time Airbnb hosts we recently returned from a 9 month journey around the world. We have two kids at home; Miles, 15, and Lily, 13, They love meeting our guests, talking about their experiences and learning about others. Airbnb is our way of traveling when we are not on the road ourselves. The family loves hiking, museums and crazy adventures.
