An eco-conscious, pet-friendly home with a garden. This listing is intended for when my primary listing has been booked for one room, and with approval, you can also book long-term stays here by the week or month.

The Space

My townhouse has two bedrooms to welcome you for your stay - one has a comfortable single bed, and the other is a queen bed. There is easy street parking and I have a private parking spot, just ask about it when you make your reservation.

There is a small chance that I will refuse/renegotiate an instant booking, it depends on whether I already have a guest and/or other circumstances in my life. Please don't take it personally if this is the case, and do please send out some backup inquiries on other accomodations until I get back to you with a confirmation.

Guest Access

The kitchen is available to use pretty much freely, including spices, oil, flour, and rice, the basics for cooking. You can also help yourself to the tea (many kinds, including Yerba maté) and instant coffee if you're like me and it's the first thing you do when you get up, though please do not treat my other food and drinks as your own; ask first.

We have WiFi. You can make yourself at home in the common areas of the house and in the living room there are speakers so you can plant your laptop down and watch it like TV.

Downstairs there is laundry and my den/home office - where you can watch TV and DVDs (no cable). Please warn me before going downstairs as it's where I work and sometimes sleep. Two punky rabbits and two rascally rats live there, it is their space too, and so yes, it can be a mess! Hervé and Elisabeth will come upstairs to visit us when they want eat, hang out, or otherwise be pets.

Though I've only had three guests come with pets, almost all pets are welcome here - the "almost" qualifier is because I must be mindful of my pets' security. (I'm non-neurotic about my animals and the range of animal behaviours.)

You are more than welcome to hang out in the back yard - birds and squirrels frequent it, and bats at night can sometimes be seen. That's also where any smoking is to be done.

Interaction with Guests

As an experienced guest and host, I enjoy the company of others and hope you will be comfortable in my home. I can provide breakfast on one morning of your stay - your choice of when. The rooms have a mini tourist-information library that you can tote with you on your trips around town.

The Neighborhood

The neighbourhood has many good restaurants in different price ranges. Some are upscale. There are also two trendy pubs. The Lachine Canal provides you a nice walk, as well as many other historical sites on the way to Old Montreal. A short walk up the hill takes you to the heart of downtown in 20 minutes.

Getting around

There is easy on-street parking, though the driveway may also be available. The metro is 400 m away, with a lot of bus lines all over the city and west island, including the 747 bus direct to and from the airport.

Other Things to Note

**Before inquiring to stay with me, please make sure that you have filled in your profile with a photo, where you are from, who you may be travelling with, and something interesting about yourself.** Openness of information is important to me.

DO NOT "take a chance" and show up at my home without having my message (from me, not AirBnB) of confirmation that I am expecting you. This will be considered very rude. You will have my phone number through the system, at the very least, call 1 hour ahead. Text messages are also OK.

  • Jane was a wonderful host. My brother and I stayed with her twice, once before camping in Mauricie National Park, and once after. She was very accommodating with our short-notice booking and helpful in suggesting where to go for dinner, camping regulations, etc. I would definitely stay with Jane again next time I am in Montreal!

  • What do I tell about Jane? Jane is a Wonderful host and a very good human being. Her love for nature and things she does for preserving nature just impressed me a lot. I spent around 2 weeks with Jane and can tell that the best part of my Montreal trip was stay with her :). She is very helpful and gives good guidance on places to go. Her rabbits and rat are very cute and friendly. Her house is as good as you see in pictures. I would highly recommend staying at her place if you visit Montreal. Off course the first reason is for wonderful experience with host and other reasons - close to Lionel Groulx train station, Atwater market, grocery store and other eateries at close proximity. I will miss you Jane but I am visiting you for sure when i come next :)!

  • Our stay with Jane in the heart of Montreal was wonderful and memorable. Jane's home is beautiful and the opportunity to use the kitchen was priceless for us. Jane was very helpful when it came to guiding us about traveling around Montreal. Her pet rabbits and rats were adorable and this is a great place to stay for animal and nature lovers. What a great immersion experience into Montreal living! Highly recommend! Many thanks for your hospitality!

  • I had a thoroughly pleasant stay at Jane's home. I felt warmly welcome. Her place is tidy and clean and near many of my favourite stops. Her pets were a welcome addition.

  • The place is great, the house lovely, the neighborhood quiet, nice and convenient, and above all Jane is a very nice and friendly hostess. A very nice place to stay when in Montreal.

Le quartier est calme mais très sympa, la maison agréable avec un petit jardin ravissant et une très appréciable terrasse mais par dessus tout Jane est vraiment une hôtesse très sympatique.

  • Stayed with Jane recently when my boyfriend and I decided to make a last-minute trip to Montreal from Boston. Jane was very accommodating, and her location was perfect for getting around to all the cool places Montreal has to see.

  • Jane couldn't have been a nicer host and her home was warm and welcoming. Plus, lovely pet rabbits! Would reccomend.

  • Enjoyed staying two night at the Urban farm/wildlife zone. The rabbits were friendly and very soft to the touch. Missed seeing the raccoon as I was already in bed. The special "no wheat" buckwheat waffles that Jane made for us to accommodate my special diet were a real treat and I learned a new recipe for waffles. Due to Jane's chat about decluttering my desk at home is a lot neater. Fleur-Ange enjoyed looking at her interesting library and Jane was a good source of information re walking and subway travel about the city.

Friendly, loves to listen and talk (but not so much about herself), pragmatic, idealistic with a broad realistic stripe, likes to wear cowboy hats and kerchiefs (but not at the same time), wears the work boots around these parts, cooks and cleans and talks to animals every day, sings. In others words, she's the best kind of peasant broad (or Disney® princess) there is. She reads (mostly) tough books and writes a blog, and is presently organizing a start-up (two, actually) with respect to project management and sustainability (green retrofitting).
