The Space

This is the largest and best value stay in Montreal, in the best neighborhood to live! Walking distance to several attractions in each direction... Very close to blue line and orange line subway lines. Located right in the middle of Montreal.

Can sleep up to NINE!

Spacious, bright and sunny commercial loft space converted to residential in the trendy Little Italy neighborhood on rue Jean-Talon West. Tall ceilings, large windows in every room (360 degree windows, so you can watch the sun rise and set), marble and tile mosaic, spacious kitchen with surround maple countertop. Awesome neighborhood (where everyone wants to move now, condos popping up on every block!) surrounded by cafes, bars, parks, restaurants, and shops. Easy access to plenty of attractions and Montreal culture.

Ideal space for family or a group of friends {up to 9} who want to experience the real Montreal - living in a LARGE loft space in a trendy neighborhood close to great music venues, restaurants, markets, and art galleries.

For the sake of accuracy, I will mention that a few of the rooms are a little rough around the edges, ie. exposed concrete and unfinished walls, .... So guests who are looking for super neat clean lines and new construction everywhere will be disappointed. But if you are ok with warehouse residential loft style then this is a great deal for you!

*If you are highly allergic to cats or dogs you should seek somewhere else. The place is very clean but a cat, and a large dog live here most of the time. IF YOU ARE OK WITH THE CAT STAYING WITH YOU PLEASE MENTION THAT AND I CAN DISCOUNT YOUR RATE SO I DON'T HAVE TO MOVE HIM ! HE IS SUPER CHILL HE SLEEPS 23.5 HOURS PER DAY. Normally I take him with me or to a friends' place nearby which is easy but i think he prefers to just stay there.!

  • The loft is great -- very much as described in the other reviews. Not picture perfect, a little rough around the edges, but large, comfortable, and in a perfect location. This loft is a short 2 block walk to a Metro station, and 1 block away from the bus stop heading downtown, so you are well-connected, yet the location is a neighborhood outside downtown so you feel more immersed in the city culture. We stayed 2 weeks and had a great time. The owner is very friendly and very accommodating ... Laef takes good care of his guests. And we loved staying with his cat while he was away ... Thor is wonderful and since we missed our own cat while we were gone, having Thor there made it better. The Jean-Talon market is a short walk away, as is a regular supermarket, so you can get some groceries and live like you're at home. It's also right next to Little Italy, with tons of great Italian restaurants, and just down the street from good Vietnamese and Indian food. Super great location, huge comfortable loft, and a friendly host -- highly recommended!

  • Laef's place is great if you need a large and welcoming space for a group to stay in Montreal. It's a great loft to rent for people who don't mind staying in a location that's a little rough around the edges. We really enjoyed our stay, on all levels: bedding, kitchen, living-room, dining room, everything is tailored for numerous people. Laef and his friends were really helpful too during our trip. Aside from a rather small water heater (considering we were nine people, it is to be expected), we had a really nice moment and I would highly recommend it for a trip to Montreal if you want to enjoy this nice city with your group!

  • Laef's Loft was awesome. I'd highly recommend this space for you if you like super cool, artsy, funky, rustic, real loft experiences. The place has a lot of charm and Laef was a consummate host. Our group of 5 was very well accommodated with room to spare. The neighborhood is nice and the place is also not far from other great neighborhoods. Laef had great recommendations on food and things to do. We really had a blast. So thank you Laef, and do yourself a favor and live in a cool loft in Montreal for the weekend.

  • Laef was very accommodating and respectful despite our extremely late arrival (after 1 am). His apartment is very spacious and we really enjoyed the location. It was very good value for our group of seven.
We were pleased to be staying in an area that is not so touristy and absolutely loved the Jean Talon market. We went there at least once a day and we will always make a point to make that part of our Montreal experience during future trips.
The teenagers and young adults in our group thought it was very cool to be in a warehouse apartment.
It is true that if you enjoy traditional hotels and accommodations, this may not suit but we did enjoy our stay.
    Thank you Laef!

  • Laef's place is amazing and exactly what we were looking for when we booked with him. The place has high ceilings and feels very open. It is a beautiful lofty space that is ideal for entertaining without worrying about noise disturbance to our neighbours as it is located in a industrial area, but still really near all the coffee shops, Jean-Talon market, subway station, bus, and a few fun bars.

Laef also left his cat with us, which was no bother at all and in fact, a pleasure to take care of! Laef was also very helpful and would provide information promptly upon request and answered all our questions. Having internet access at this place was also a bonus!

I would definitely stay here again when I visit Montreal.

  • Laef was a great host. Easy to communicate with and made no false claims about the space. I liked having ample room for our party of 4. Luxury wasn't something we needed, so what was provided worked fine for us. Happy everything worked out nicely and without issue for my first airbnb experience :) Cheers and Thank you!

  • Laef's place (as the name suggests) is huge indeed. We were 6 of us and could stay very comfortably. Infact, I feel it could have accommodated another 2 or 3 may be. He was quite flexible with the check-in time and even though we came in a bit late, there was no problem getting the keys. The loft was just a couple of blocks from the metro station, which made commuting extremely easy. I would totally recommend his loft, no matter how big the group.

  • Overall I had an excellent stay! However, I will say a few things to potential guests. Laef's place is definitely more suited to a certain type of traveler.

    If you like:

    an eclectic selection of records
some of the best food in Montreal steps away
    a nice kitchen
    tons of space
    traveling with a big group

Then great! It's a spot for you.

    If you need:

    New bedding/furniture
    proximity to Plateau/Downtown/tourist spots
    clubs on the block
    something romantic
the airbnb version of a hotel

    then maybe not!

This place is best for larger groups who don't mind a quirky loft space that hasn't been decorated a la suburbs with Ikea matchiness. It's a little rough around the edges but great if you've got a bunch of people who like to explore, cook, and hang out in a cool place.

Laef was really easy to get in touch with and he answered all our questions. Picking up the keys was a cinch and I definitely love this part of Montreal.
