Charming eclectic and peaceful 2 BR, 1 bath home on shady double lot in the heart of the quaint wine hamlet of Carlton. The home has been recently restored with an all new kitchen, claw foot tub/shower, four poster beds, down duvets, decorated with local art as well as findings from around the world...even a piano. It is perfect for two couples or one family. A sunporch easily accommodates an extra couple of people on an airbed. Ruth's house is only blocks from wineries, restaurants, swimming pool and the new bakery. It is ideally situated for those wanting to go wine tasting and then walk home afterward.
Facing a quiet side street, there is plenty of parking in front and on the side. Nearby Carlton Veterinary hospital does short term boarding for those with animals. (website hidden)
Mcminnville (Wings and Waves waterpark, Linfield College, antique/art galleries, and a host of wonderful restaurants) are but a 10 minute drive .

Eric and Annie were wonderful hosts! Myself and a group of girlfriends stayed for a bachelorette wine tasting party and the location and amenities could not have been more perfect for us.
Before our stay Annie was very responsive to my many questions, and when we arrived, they had left (delicious) cookies, granola, fresh fruit and yogurt for us, as well as a welcome note. The cottage was clean, comfortable and so charming.
I would absolutely stay again.
This little place in Carlton is just darling. The beds were very comfortable as was the living space. Annie and Eric were in communication with me well before the trip and got me all the info I needed to get settled in. My guests and I cooked our own meals and enjoyed the outdoor dining area. There are a lot of excellent vineyards within a 20-minute drive of this place, which makes an ideal home base for wine country tours. Loved it!
Great cottage in a great location! We really enjoyed our stay.
I'm in love with Ruth's Cottage. Everything about our stay was spectacular. Annie was so accommodating and friendly, and made the process easy. The cottage is so charming and well decorated. It's light-filled with cool art, antiques, and comfortable & eclectic furniture. Annie & Eric have great style. The house was clean and well appointed, with everything you'd need for a getaway. As mentioned in previous reviews, Annie left cookies, coffee, fresh strawberries, granola and yogurt for us. So delicious. We picked up a few pastries from the Carlton Bakery and feasted on the patio in the morning. And the flowers! Vases of freshly picked blooms were throughout the house.
The location of Ruth's cottage can't be beat. Right in the heart of Carlton with it's tasting rooms and restaurants. It's such a nice retreat, and only an hour from Portland.
I can't rave enough about our stay in Carlton at Ruth's cottage. It's such a gem. I can't wait to go back!
Ruth's cottage was the perfect base for my friends and I to explore the Wilamette Valley for a weekend. The cottage is within walking distance of many wonderful dining options and a large number of wine tasting rooms. It is also a very short drive to many other enjoyable activities and nearby cities in the Valley.
The cottage itself is well maintained, furnished nicely, fully stocked and clean. We enjoyed our time in the house. Though we did not have the opportunity to meet the hosts we were still greeted with fresh cookies and homemade granola.
I will hopefully find myself staying here again.
Ruth's Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our wine country weekend trip. Their home was beautiful, comfortable, and in a wonderful location. We were able to easily walk to shops, restaurants and wineries.
We greatly appreciated all of the small touches from the welcome note on the chalkboard, the flowers, wine, to the yummy cookies.
Annie and Eric were a pleasure to work with throughout the booking experience.
Thank you for sharing your home!
There is nothing we didn't love about Ruth's Cottage and our hosts, Annie and Eric. A lovely house, kitchen stocked with anything you might need, beautiful big yard and plenty of interesting reading material. What more could we want? Very convenient to walk to the many pleasures of Carlton, the friendliest town in America. We hope to be back again. Thank you Annie and Eric.
Annie and Eric are very nice and this was a great place to stay. We shot a short film there and they were very helpful and supportive. This is a very cozy and warm place, I recommend staying here.
My family and I had a great stay this past weekend. The house was the perfect size for 4 of us (and could have easily accommodated 6). The beds were amazingly comfortable, the house was very clean, and the nice welcoming touches were much appreciated! Homemade cookies, a bottle of wine, coffee and cream - all made for a wonderful welcome and great weekend. We could love to stay here again and highly recommend this house!
My husband and I just spent 2 nights in "Ruth's cottage." (Look on the piano for a great short history about Ruth and the house, which must have been one of the first in Carlton.) The house has been beautifully restored and is just as lovely as it looks in the photos, and even more spacious. Even though it was cold and rainy for most our stay, this was a wonderful place to relax between outings, both in town (everything's a short walk) and around the area. The warm colors, original art, fresh flowers and comfortable feeling made it a pleasure to spend time in. Annie had everything set up for us and was a gracious and communicative "virtual" host.
