About this listing
Bedroom and private bath in historic Houston Heights. Quiet street, New higher speed free Wifi included throughout the house
The bedroom has a Queen size bed, lots of space for hanging clothes and folded.
This is a quiet neighborhood where we know most of our neighbors.
If you are without a vehicle I can take you grocery shopping. I offer a "Help Yourself" breakfast, juice, muffins, yogurt fruit and more.
There is a lively arts neighborhood here and plenty to do. The houses here are mostly 30's 40's bungalow style with some creative modern structures too. The Heights is very charming.
We have a great system of bike paths here too. I've had guests who brought their bikes. Also the new bike rental program is now in operation.
Public transit a block away takes you to the Museum District and several other museums off the path as well as downtown and connect to the expanding light rail.
My house is a mile or so from 3 major freeways :I-10, I-610 and I-45. You can get anywhere from here.
You must like dogs as Duke, the resident hound, is going to be your friend for life. He's mostly interested in sleeping and performing for treats.
I've lived in Houston 45 years. If you want to know something, I probably have the answer. I give a great tour (please pay for gas) especially in you're interested in Architecture. I'll show you those things unique to Houston.
I've a great/eclectic collection of books and art you'll enjoy.
You have full use of the house, living and dining rooms and the washer and dryer in the garage. Please park on the left side of the driveway.
Interaction with Guests
My interaction with my guest is up to you of course. If you are looking for a wine bar, I know where a couple are. I like to hear about your trip. I have had people who appreciate the quiet and are using the visit to be by themselves.
CNN Money named the Heights as the most desirable neighborhood in Houston.
Less than a mile away are several very good restaurants highly recommended. The "main drag" of the Heights is about a mile north and west. Shops, ice cream stores, antiques and more places to eat.
Thanks to a guest's suggestion, I collect menus from nearby restaurants you might enjoy.
Houston's place to be scene is 1.5 miles south on Washington Avenue with bars, cafes, clubs, and more restaurants. There is a shuttle so you can park once and party at multiple venues. Fitzgerald's is well known
music venue a mile away.
The 66 and 34 bus buses stop a block away. These will take you downtown, the Museum district and the Medical Center and also connect to the rest of the Metro system. A rent car is your best option but many of my guest have been happy with Metro.
House Rules: Please make yourself at home. If you need anything, please ask. If there is any kind of problem I want to know about it right away so it can be fixed. .
