Allow me to start my review with a quote, "Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows_flowers, not_thunder."
AtAround2:25PMwhile_we_were_trying_to_load_our_luggages_at_the_van,_Felicia arrived,_feisty,saying that she will charge us extra $35 because her cleaners are already charging her starting at 2PM. This for us is acceptable but ranting continues.
Until such time, I couldn't bear her rants, I told her "Don't raise your voice on us because we are your paying guests and we're decent people from the Philippines. We don't get used to being shouted by people, as we do things, back home, professionally. And then she went on and further demanded $100 extra charge claiming that we left so much dirt in her house. As far as we can remember, what's left in the rooms are mostly crumpled papers, shopping paper bags, boxes, and, etc. But she went on shouting, ranting and we felt really harassed. We were mistreated outside her doorsteps as if we were"slaves". Mr Du who doesn't want more of her ranting decided to give her $100 but to our surprise, she didn't accept it and said I will report you to airbnb, etc.
In the middle of our verbal exchange,Isaid, "ThisIsCrazy!" because we never felt so humiliated and harassed by a person who we thought would be a professional one in dealing professional travelers. She went on saying, I don't care if you're the Mayor or whoever!"
We come from Dumaguete, known in the Philippines as the City of Gentle People and we ABHOR her shameful_character as a person in dealing with(paying/€1,514)guests. And she continually rants that we wasted her time because she had to leave work, further saying that she's paid $200/hour. We always offered our apologies that we were late by 25minutes and that we are most willing to adhere to her demands of $100 but she just lost her cool&manners. In the heated verbal exchanges, we often emphasized that we don't want any trouble, we will pay cash, and we're Filipinos who doesn't want any of this type of incidents. She reached her point of issuing a derogatory statement not just to us but the whole country in general, and i quote, "I_DON'T_THINK_YOU_HAVE_SOMETHING_TO_BE_PROUD_OF_AS_FILIPINOS!_I'M_AN_AMERICAN!"
Hearing_that_from_her, our_host, who_we_paid_and_gave_her_a_business_for 5nights,_we_deserve_respect_and_appropriate_conduct. We_believe_there_is_a_system_of_redress_with_airbnb_which_she_can_fully_avail_and_not_becoming_a_"monster"_and_a_racist_in_front_of_us,_acting_arbitrarily.
While we were standing outside under the heat of the sun waiting for our van to return, her cleaning ladies approached us and apologized for Felicia's unbecoming behaviour and that they will accept our additional payment of $100. So we gave it to her and asked her to issue an acknowledgment receipt. We don't know what changed their minds in asking the extra charge, at that point. The only reason we gave the $100, even if we were insulted, is for gratuities for the cleaners.
Sanctions must be imposed on hosts acting with prejudice. In this increasingly connected world made smaller by technology, it is imperative that we become more responsible and respectful members of the international community to truly effect growth and world peace. Racial discrimination and bigotry does not have a place in this time and age.
In your itinerary from Airbnb shows check in time: 4.00 pm check out: 11.00 am.
The night before your check out time, you asked me a late check out because you need to go to San Diego, and I gave you late checkout till 2 PM. But you didn't ready to leave the house by 2 pm. Your stuff still all over the places. if you like to go somewhere on your check out time you should already pack your stuff up and check out at the time .
When my cleaning crews came, you were still there and one of your guests saw the cleaning crews came, he shuts the door on them. And the cleaning crews called me, ask me to come to talk to you. I went there and asking to the guy (that shut the door on my cleaning crews). I asked where is Woodrow? He did not reply and just walked away, and I went in to the house found you in the room still packing while the time shows 2.29 pm..
On your review you said 2.25 you were uploading your stuff to the van (your van wasn't there) you still stays outside till 3.10 pm ( I have the picture) .
When you went back into the house at the door you told me that you are Pilipino and your guest is a Mayor. I don't understand what that means? I just felt that you are threatening me. And I replied : I don't care and what special about you are Pilipino and your Mayor? I am American citizen. We treat people equally. Why don't you mention on your review that I told you I can call cops if you don't get out as soon as possible from my property. There is reaction from action.
And $ 100 you paid was for the cleaning lady ‘s time(she gave you receipt). While you were paying her you still mention that you paid me $300 cleaning fee. What that came from? You can ask dispute to Airbnb if you pay that amount, I don't make any profit from you being late. I even lost money because I need to leave my work and go there. Respect needs to be earned don't twist and make false statement .
You are accusing me Racist; please correct yourself and your attitude .
I have been doing this vacation house rental since 2012 nobody complaint , you can read my reviews, I do a professional jobs as hosting, I have 50 reviews so far compare to other hosting in Anaheim area, and I have so many repeat guest as well, maybe from that reviews, you book instantly to my house. You just join Airbnb on May 2015 maybe the first time become guest. If you stay at rental property of course you need to pay, but paying doesn't mean you can act and do whatever you like. Remember you pay me $ 279/night for the whole house + $ 150 one time cleaning fee. My house still cheaper than hotels in Anaheim area ( for high season maybe around $279/night + tax you can get only 1 room ). I am your Host, the owner of the house. You need to respect that. I do travel agency as well, if I have an exclusive or powerful peoples (They have power and rich, they don’t care about money only services they need) I rent them a place in Beverly Hills such : The Peninsula Hotel, Four Seasons, etc( not staying in my rental house) , cost them the cheapest appn. $ 550 night/tax. You got what you paid. I served good and right to my entire guest. Your paying money is nothing compare to your attitude and vanity. I think you pick the wrong rental place.. Find a cheap price expect an expensive service. You tried to make to much profit and benefits from the money that you spend.
False statement can lead something bigger.
Thank you for staying in my house for the first and the last time.
And suggestion for Airbnb : more selective (from any aspect) to choose new member that make Hosting safer and pleasant.
My family of 9 stayed at Felicia's house for 6 nights in early June. The house was wonderful. It was clean, well furnished and everything you need is provided - towels, toiletries, coffee, tea, etc.
Felicia was very responsive in all aspects... and she made our stay very comfortable and convenient. Location was great... just under 10 minutes drive to Disneyland and the main highway.
The only thing is, the house would be perfect for 7 people. With 9, two of us had to sleep on the futon... which eventually worked out, but would be better if we had proper beds.
Overall, we had a very nice time at the house. Thank you.
This is a well-maintained home on a quiet suburban street. One young man in our party decided he'd like the privacy of his own room so slept on the futon in the garage-turned-gameroom. This worked well for him but may not be practical in colder weather (but how often is that a concern in SoCal?). The kitchen was easy to use with its gas range and ice-maker equipped fridge. There are TVs with cable everywhere, so no trouble with decision of what to watch. A list of nearby stores was on the fridge door. The owner did come by on our first morning to say hello and make sure we were OK. His friendly and humorous demeanor made us feel most welcome.
Spend a 3 day weekend at Felicia's place for Disney vacation. The descriptions are accurate and loved the stay. Felicia was nice and offered to pick up a family member from the bus station. Will stay again without hesitation.
I had an awesome birthday weekend and being able to stay at your vacation home made it so much easier. It was a great house with comfortable beds and plenty of space. It's very well taken care of and very clean. Thank you for letting us stay. We'll definitely be back again. Highly recommend.
