About this listing
This is the second unit in a property consisting of a villa ((listing "Unique 300 yr.old restored Villa") + Guest House, both estimated to be over 300 years old. The original structure has been restored and architecturally reinterpreted, incorporating both traditional and modern elements.
The Guest House is very unique in that it was originally the bakery oven of the village. In fact, the bedroom is the actual oven where barley rusks were made. Just off the bedroom is the bathroom. In addition, there is a living area and kitchenette with basic cooking facilities and direct access to the expansive terrace, shared with the villa.
The village of Mesa Gonia, or Episkopis Gonias, is very serene and tranquil, yet very close to Camari and the beautiful, black sand beach, restaurants, cafes, clubs, and shops. It boasts two wineries, and is home to the newly established Yellow Donkey Brewery. Take a stroll down and try out some of their great Yellow Donkey, Red Donkey or Crazy Donkey beer. Just down the road on the way to Camari is an utterly charming outdoor cinema, recently voted one of the top 25 in Europe. Besides showing the latest feature films (usually in English), they occasionally host live performances during the peak summer months.
Renting some kind of a vehicle is recommended (car, ATV, or motorbike) but local transport is available just down on the main road.
self-catering (no maid service)
Fantastically so - caring without being invasive, thoughtful - very intuitive of who you are and what you want to do. SO helpful! I would recommend staying with Lianne over anyone on Santorini! If you want to visit Santorini with original Greek experiences, avoid the tourist traps and find Lianne's place. She and her ability to navigate the culture and the places to go is completely unique. If you are there - you MUST visit Kostos and his Chatiri - charming, wonderful food and a village that offers solitude, peace and accessibility to everywhere else!
We've just returned from a week long stay in Santorini and we really fell in love with the Island. Lianne's apartment was a great base for us and we loved the fact that it was out of the way in the little village which really made the stay authentic.
Lianne was great she picked us up from the airport, arranged our car hire for us and booked us into the highly recommended restaurant Metaxy Mas. You must go here, the food is beautiful and you feel like you're eating in the middle of the mountains.
When we first arrived we walked down to the main area of Kamari, which is about a 35 minute walk, I wouldn't recommend doing this walk more than once a day there and back as there are no pavements and its a bit of a tough walk. After doing this a couple of times we decided to hire our car earlier and really got out to see the Island, we explored most of the beaches, on the other side of the island they are much quieter and went to a different restaurant every night.
Lianne was really friendly but not imposing, we were on a last holiday just the two of us as we are expecting in January so we really wanted to make the most of our time on our own which we were able to do at the apartment.
I would recommend the apartment but if you like a few drinks out at the restaurant and don't want to drive then this place may be a bit far out for you to walk. It was ok for us because I was obviously not driving so it worked out well. Lianne did mention public transport but we didn't see many buses and apparently they are quite busy at certain points in the day.
All in all it was a lovely holiday and I would love to go back to Santorini again one day.

The stay at Lianne's House was nice and relaxing. The house is very particular and comfortable. Lianne was very kind picking us up at The airport snd providing us with very good suggestions about beaches, places to have a perfect sunset experience and The best restaurant on The island. Stay at Lianne's House is a perfect option for a comfortable stay and visit Santorini.
We had a fantastic time staying at the guest house :) This place is very unusual and will exceed expectations of anyone who look for experiencing something else than an all inclusive stay in the middle of crowded tourist area. The place is located in the center of the island and everything is within reach, but at the same time You can come back to rest in a quiet neighborhood away from the tourist noise. You should listen and follow Lianne's tips and tricks to get the most of Santorini. She's a perfect host and the place is simply amazing :)
