The Space

Hey guys,
I won't accept bookings until we have exchanged a little so can you please not "book" without a reply to your inquiery first? Thank you!

I have only ever had very positive reviews.
I never want there to be any disappointment, that's why I am so detailed and honest in my description, and that's why I have always had very happy people. I just wouldn't want you to feel lied to!

This is a lovely quiet studio flat in a very Amelie Poulain type area (in the 17th arrondissement), very safe (even at night), on a street with a food market every day. Literally every shop you might need, and great access to anywhere. This is a dream place for anyone looking to have a romantic time in Paris (be it alone or in couple) and to feel like they are actually LIVING in Paris.

7min walk to the Villiers metro (lines 3 and 2, so great access to anywhere in very little time), 7 min walk to the Parc Monceau, 30min walk to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysées, 35 min walk to Montmartre, 20min walk to Opera. The street view is not taken from my place. My apartment is not on the street side, but overlooking the tiny courtyard, so no street sounds!. It's on the first floor, no lift.
The studio isn't big (24m2, 258 square feet, very typical of Paris sizes) but it's very comfortable and cozy. Separate kitchen and bathroom area. Fully yours obviously (people ask).
The building is surprisingly quiet for Paris, so I really expect guests to respect the neighbors tranquility.

The flat is full of character, warm and welcoming, you will feel at home immediately.
A cleaner comes between each stay (or I do it myself) and I personally wash the sheets towels etc at 90°C, so it is clean! And it has all you need.
I only provide 1 towel for each guest for any normal stay so don't forget to bring extra ones if you need more than one :-)

The kitchen is equipped with all the basics (including a recently bought great micro wave/ crisp oven/ grill and a smoothie blender, as well as a regular hand held blender, pans, oils and spices etc etc. There should always be some tea...
You have clean linen on the bed of course. Heating... Hot water... Internet (wireless+ethernet)... No TV. There is an old iron, and a small hair dryer. There is a wonderfully warm shower with good water pressure (it is a half small square bath, with shower)

Renovations have been made, and as you can see people were very happy even before them, so yeay! The ceiling and walls have been repainted white in the kitchen and bathroom and some other stuff has been done.
You should know, that as cute and wonderful as it is, and even with these renovations, it still won't be "perfect", the wooden floors have defaults in it, a bit bumpy at places, some cracks. Some things have their own personality (I leave a note explaining how to handle them) The paint in the main room has definite traces of life :-)... And I find the professional pictures taken by the airbnb photographer a little misleading (too bright and perfect and wide angle makes it look a little bigger than it is).
Also, the studio is on the first floor with a tall building straight across, so it is not very bright in the winter. Just so you know.
It's not "modern perfect", it's a vintage kind of place, but aren't they the best? :-)
The plus side: I'm very demanding, so this is me painting the dark picture for people who like modern spotless, so no one books it who won't like it.
If you book, you'll love it, and you'll see, the area really puts a smile on your face every time you walk out...

I am glad to help if you have any questions or want advice, I have also left a note with a few tips on where to eat, buy fruit and veg among the large choice on the street for example, etc etc. But even better, I have now created an online map with all my favorite places in Paris, or places I've heard great things about (restaurants, bars, tea/ coffee places, museums, galleries, sight seeing, vintage shopping, etc) and I send it to all my confirmed guests.

I have recently been really busy so I can't often be there for check ins and check outs but you'll get all the info for your check in and out via email!

  • We would definitely recommend this area and apartment to other guests. Less touristy than other zones, we felt more like "locals" shopping the street markets each morning, popping in and out of bakeries, boutiques and cafe's. The Villiers metrostop was about 7 minutes away from the apartment (by foot) and we were able to quickly access top tourist areas - there were also bikes that could be rented by the day nearby. Sara was responsive and helpful. She left a list of recommended restaurants and nearby sights. The apartment, as described, is quite small but very clean with the "necessities" provided - bedding, towels, hair dryer, iron, pots/pans, plates, etc. For our three nights in Paris it was perfect and we would definitely stay there again.

  • Sara is a great host who we were able to meet twice. Although the second time was to resolve an issue with the key where she literally and figuratively went above and beyond to help us which was very much appreciated!

It was great being able to leave the apartment and come back within 10 minutes with everything you needed for a meal. There are convenient options for nearly anything you can think of nearby.

The one thing I can think of that hasn't already been covered by other reviews is that while the courtyard the windows face is generally pretty quiet, they do have a few garbage bins that get pretty popular early in the morning. Closing the window shutters helped a lot with that.

Anyway, I'd recommend this place the next time anyone I know heads off to Paris.

  • We stayed at this cute and charming little apartment for a week. It was perfect and in a great location. Very Parisian. A market is right outside the door where you can buy anything you need like fresh warm baguettes, cheese, flowers and all groceries you will need. Lot's of cafes and wonderful restaurants in the block. Sara left us a detailed note with instructions and tips, cool spots to check out in Paris and the neighborhood. We will definitely return to this apartment when we are back to Paris. This apartment left us with such great memories. Sara was an excellent and professional host.

  • I had a fantastic stay in Sara's apartment. The apartment is centrally located and is easily accessible via walking or the metro. The apartment also has a lot of character and is reasonably spacious for a studio. Sara was very helpful in all communications. I would definitely recommend to others.

  • I've been at Sara's department in March with my girlfriend, both 30 years old. We were looking for something in a good position, safe to walk, quiet, clean and low cost... And we definitely found it! This small studio is really well located, 10 minutes walk from metro station with which you can easily reach any place of Paris. At the same time roads are really quiet even at night, totally safe to walk (I was walking by night with my reflex at hand..) but totally alive during day, with many groceries, markets, bistros and so on. The department is small, quite tricky to reach (but funny, the first time looks like you're looking for a treasure :D ), actually old fashioned but perfectly clean and silent! There's no nice view outside, you won't find nothing luxurious, but you'll find a nice "base camp" for you trips around the city! Sara will leave many messages to welcome you and teach you about the house, the nearby and places to see. The bed is totally comfortable, we slept perfectly every night! Surely the bathroom is small, not so comfortable but hey... It's a bathroom! ;) we only had a small problem with the boiler but I know it have been totally replaced (I was there when the technician arrived). Sara is really nice, always reachable by phone, SMS or Mail. So.. If you don't need luxury and prefer a quiet old style but good looking place to stay.. Get it!

    Response from Sara:

Merci Andrea!

  • Great stay and a great location. The flat was small, but had everything we needed.
The immediate area had some some lovely restaurants, a very convenient bakery for morning pastries and the flat was ideally located for the metro.
Sara was really helpful and had some really helpful advice on things to do and see.

Open person, curious. I love to travel, and do so as often as I can. I have booked through airbnb before, have advised it to many, and am now also gonna put my own place on there. I have had many people stay here before, but always through people I knew. Big leap of faith, but that's kind of the point with this website I guess!
