We are situated in the historic centre of Alkmaar, a town 35mins outside Amsterdam.
We're a family with 4 kids, so it'll be lively, but lovely! You'll be part of our bilingual (Dutch-English) family.

    The beer museum is very small and will note take long to see, but there is a good cafe downstairs with many Belgian beers. On sunny days you can sit in the boat outside with a beer.

    cute bridge at the end of this street, if you go up the steps it takes you to where once was the city wall. Especially nice when going underneath it by boat or canoe.

    great for little boats, canoes, bikes and scooter rental. they have suggestions for boat or canoe trips for an hour or for part of the day, if you want to explore further outside of Alkmaar

    very cute hofje (courtyard) originally meant for widows, very quaint and very small houses around a courtyard. If I walk through it it always makes me happy!

    Art house cinema in old building on the canal. Films in original language with Dutch subtitles. Also has a bar and cafe.

    There is a free ferry to the other side of the water. It only takes a couple of minutes, but I enjoy doing it and taking a short walk down the Heiligland on the other side.
