A hidden gem just outside of the San Rafael Swell, the Cactus Cottage is the perfect desert getaway. The central spot for adventuring to Goblin Valley and Capitol Reef, the Cactus Cottage is in the cozy and quiet town of Hanksville. Equipped with two double beds, and one bathroom, there is plenty of space inside, but the best spot is the screened in porch, perfect for early morning coffee, afternoon relaxation, or a cool beverage after a long day of desert adventures.

The space
Built by a local family many years ago, this concrete home is the coolest getaway for warm weather days. You’ll find a large living room with a leather sofa, leather reclining chairs, and a four person dining table. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, dishwasher, coffee pot, microwave, toaster and all the necessities for cooking including spices, and oils. The bedroom has two double beds and a large closet, as well as a TV. The bathroom is just off of the kitchen and has a standing shower, no bathtub. We are in the process of landscaping the backyard, but a few lounge chairs await your relaxation time. Kick back on the front porch and grab a board game—our favorite way to unwind after hiking the Swell. We love this house and this community, so please treat the locals and this local legend’s house with kindness.

Guest access
You’ll have access to the entire upstairs of the home. The door to the left of the refrigerator is to the basement and is locked, with no access to guests.

Hi there! I am an avid adventurer and lover of the outdoors. I love traveling--whether with friends, family and our dogs. When I am not traveling or playing in the mountains with my husband, we are working behind the chair at the salon I own in Park City, or training for or racing (for fun!) in triathlons.
