Sandra met us at the house when we arrived to be sure we were fine and had everything we needed.
Sandra was a great host! She is super friendly and a great communicator. She sent very detailed driving instructions and places to see before we got here. The house is absolutely amazing! I could see that she has really put some work to decorate the house and the garden. I travelled with my whole family: my parents, my grandparents and my boyfriend. Everybody love the house. It is really remote but extremely quiet. It has this shower and bedroom outside. Even my grandparents enjoy the shower. It does get a little cold at night but it's really great taking a shower in the woods with the birds singing. My grandparents ended up sleeping in the bedroom outside. I thought it would get cold but they actually liked it. The back yard is HUGE. We should have spent more time exploring the house. When we walk around the house, there are many surprises like the little hidden yard on the side and small decorations on the trees or in the grass. Sandra said there was a natural beehive but we never got a chance to actually go and see it. The only thing is the mosquitos, but I guess that's the payoff living close to the nature. It gets a little inconvenient when it comes to buying food and everything. There is this little store in town but the prices are higher. But we can get food and other things there. Sandra has all the utensils and living essentials in the (website hidden) was a great trip! We would love to come back if we get a chance and we would highly recommend it to others.
Sandra's place is really wonderful . Well located very close to the Volcano , South point and black sands beach.
there is no cell reception so be sure to have accurate directions if you arrive late as we did.
the house is large with comfortable beds and a large dining and living room area
Sanda is a very gracious host.
Guests should be aware that the house is quite cold at nights.
also the one shower and bath are outside of the the house
this is somewhat uncomfortable and although very pretty maybe a little strange if you're not accustomed to this.
all in all it was a great stay
It was wonderful to meet you. Thank you so much for the wonderful review.
I could tell our Hawaiian style bathing area was unusual for you, so you and party were good sports.
You were here when 2 feet of snow lingered on Mauna Loa with 85 mile winds. Never ever happened before. But, was chilly. It is not always That cold.
You were great guests. The house was left in admirable condition.
You were great guests.
Sandra's place is fantastic! It is a perfect off the beaten path cottage. The grounds are wonderful and it is in a great location to visit southern spots on big island (punaluu, green sand beach, volcanoes). It's nicely secluded and private and perfect for those looking for a different island experience. For those who know, it's very much like renting a quaint muskoka cottage. We didn't meet Sandra due to our late arrival but she left us with great instructions and was incredibly accommodating.
