The Space

This is a 4 bedroom apartment. There are 3 large bedrooms and 1 smaller sized bedroom. The master bedroom, has a queen sized sleigh bed. The second bedroom has an additional queen sized bed, while the third room consist of a full sized bed. Finally, the fourth bedroom has a twin sized bed. I do supply sheets and blankets. The kitchen is well equipped. I do supply paper towels, coffee and other basic necessities. The bathroom is decent sized for New York City but by no means a huge bathroom. As of March 1st there is an additional bathroom being built. This apartment will now have 2 bathrooms. The flooring is the original antique floors. It is for that reason that we ask that all hard shoes be removed.

Guest should expect a warm inviting host. You should know that Airbnb has been a great part of my life in the past year. I you should expect a host that is eager to meet people of all different backgrounds. You can also count on having a host that is ready to respond to text and phone calls at most times. Communication and hospitality is definitely our strong points and it is my passion. You should also expect to find an immaculate place that is well equipped with all possible kitchen utensils, including non-stick pots, dishes, eating utensils, seasonings for cooking, coffee, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, tea kettle, dish washing liquid, garbage bags and paper towels. The bathroom will be stocked with extra toilet tissue and sufficient towels. A blow dryer is also provided. The beds will be made with quality linens at all times. We are child friendly and we keep a basic stroller and portable crib in case someone needs it. I just need knowledge that you will need any one of these items prior to your visit. I do not have an issue with anyone needing to leave their luggage in the building for later travels This is a small issue that can be worked out to the satisfaction of all.

Our neighborhood is full of culture and very diverse, atypical of New York City, There are supermarkets and almost everything you could possibly want to purchase, selling on Broadway. This is one block away. There is a Bank of America on the corner, along with the Police Station directly across the street (couldn't feel more protected than that). The train (metro) station (J train) is less than a 2 minute walk. There are local pubs on Broadway as well as on Lewis Avenue. We are located less than 15 minutes from the Barclays Center, about 20 minutes from the Botanical Gardens, Children Museum and the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Museum, Jewish Children's Museum and the New York City Transit Museum. We are about 30 to 40 minutes via train from Times Square and most parts of Manhattan.

What makes this place unique is not only the decor, but the community and lets not forget the friendly host ;-). Whether or not you choose this place, I do hope you enjoy the "city that never sleeps". Discounted rate from December to February. Ask about further discounts for that period if 4 or more days are reserved. • I couldn't be happier with our stay at Venessa's! The place is amazing, the rooms have plenty of space and the kitchen was also great! She and her husband made all they could to make us feel comfortable and feel like we were at our homes. At my next state New York I am definitely going to look for Venessa's place! Totally worth it!

Thank you very much Venessa I hope to see you soon in Brazil and in New York!

  • Vanessa has the airbnb experience down to a science, from the instant booking and keyless entry on check-in, to the warm hospitality of a bottle of wine waiting when you arrive. The neighborhood is extremely close to Manhattan, only a few stops on the J train, and I felt extremely safe during our stay, the police precinct really is literally across the street next to the charter school.

I'm exceptionally glad I chose Vanessa's apartment to host my friends and I during our stay, and would definitely choose to do business with her again in a heartbeat.

  • Venessa was all I expected. Just a triple A host, I cannot think of anything there is to top this.

In the weeks before my visit I emailed with Venessa a couple of dozen times and that good contact was just the same in real life. Just great.

If you want a nice large apartment in the good part of Brooklyn than Venessa has to be your first choice.

The apartment is large, has 3 good beds and two full bedrooms.
We did not use the kitchen but it was all there, large good cold fridge, stove, dishes, ect.

You can walk to the metro in less then 2 minutes and from there it's just 25min to Manhattan.

This was my first AirBNB trip but if all the "airbnbers" are this good it will most definitely not be my last.

  • Simply wonderful! The brownstone was a perfect place to stay for our visit to New York. It was beautiful and comfortable. The apartment was very close to the train so we could commute in and out of Manhattan very easily. We always felt at home in the brownstone. It was even better than the photos!
Venessa and her husband made our stay even more fantastic! They were both very lovely and very helpful, answering any question we had about the apartment or the area. They provided us with fresh food to make breakfast with. This was very much appreciated! When we got a flat tire as we were leaving, they assisted us and welcomed back into the apartment until AAA arrived.
Simply a wonderful experience. We would definitely stay again!

  • This is a perfect place to stay in NYC!!! Venessa and her husband could not have been more helpful or kinder. Conveniently located near a subway stop, we had no problems getting around NYC. Our hosts made our stay extra special. The kitchen was fully equipped and easy to use. Numerous restaurants and shops are within walking distance. There are 4 nicely decorated bedrooms and the possibility to sleep two more people in the living room. The TWO bathrooms were a godsend for a group like ours comprised of 6 people. I would absolutely recommend this apt and happily return here!! Lastly, Venessa's husband speaks French which was great for our group

  • Vanessa was such an awesome host. Can't express enough how hospitable she is. Our party had to drop off our luggage early wich was no problem. The place was perfect for our group of 6 people. 2 blocks from the J train and even though it might not have been in a trendy neighbourhood there was a grocer and a wallgreens close by so we could pick up things for breakfast> of which vanessa already had some things in the fridge. If you are a are looking for a fancy home with high end finishings then take yourself to the Ritz and spend your dollars there! If your looking for a comfy home in a middle class urban neighbourhood this is it!!!! As our flight was delayed for our departure time Vanessa was gracious enough to let us check out a lot later then expected. She is the perfect host quick to respond on any questions and very welcoming. Would definetely stay again if in a large group and recommend for sure!!!!

  • Vanessa was a lovely host and she gave us many suggestions on restaurants. Having 4 bedrooms was a real plus. The kitchen was quite adequate and she even left us some food to make for breakfast. Just be aware that there is no dining room or kitchen table. The only place to sit at a table to eat is a tiny table with two stools in the kitchen. But they would have to take over a bedroom to put in a table, so there really isn't room. The beds were comfortable and sheets and towels were provided. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay.

    Response from Venessa:

Ellen is correct that this apartment does not come equipped with a formal dining room. If that is what you are looking for, I suggest you view my 3 bedroom apartment which has just as much sleeping capability. Ellen wanted to use a folding table to substitute for that. Many of our guest have done that in the past by removing the center table in the living room and putting it in one of the walk in closets. This is a definite option. Many times when I go into the apartment after a guest have checked out, I notice that it is completely rearranged to suit their needs. This is no issue for me as we all have different needs as travelers. My only regret Ellen, was not knowing you had a difficulty making it work. I certainly would have run upstairs to assist you. In any case, you and your group were certainly a wonderful sophisticated group that come with stella recommendations from me. Your comment is very welcomed in that it will remind me to send out a stronger message that my help is here to be used.

  • Excellent host! Venessa and her family are super friendly people and great hosts. She let us check out in the afternoon and leave all our stuff there until it was time to go to the airport, eat whatever was in the house and she even brought us some great fruit! The apartment is really confortable and close to the subway station and many shops. We'd definitely recommend this place.

After doing Airbnb for about one year, I have decided to change my description. i can now say, that, the best description of myself is a fun loving host with a passion to please my guest. I feel privileged to be afforded the opportunity to meet so many people from so many different backgrounds and the opportunity to travel through your eyes. Hosting is a joint venture that involves my husband, the children, and I. I am a teacher or pre school children. I am of Caribbean decent, while my husband is from Senegal in Africa. Language is definitely his gift, speaking french, spanish and several African languages quite fluently. My family and I love to travel. Our most recent travel landed us in my husband's home town in Senegal. This was my most fulfilling travel ever. We have been to France, England, Hawaii, Bahamas, Canada and we have had many other short trips in the US. We can't live without each other. We are a very tight nit family, thus, we welcome families (even families with children, regardless of age). We love to eat rice and fish and spicy foods from our culture. We love to tour the city and see on and off Broadway shows, dine at our favorite restaurants, take long walks and bike ride in the park. As host, we are very accommodating and informative for travels who want to enjoy the best of NYC. I have spent almost all of my life in the city and I love NYC; I love my neighborhood and richness of culture here.
