Semeli has outstanding communications skills: she's prompt, clear and witty. The apartment was exactly as described and is a funky, bright, smartly designed studio almost equidistant from everywhere you'd like to see downtown: Tribeca, Soho, Little Italy, Chinatown, etc. It's very lively, noisy and bright on Canal St but my wife's earplugs and eye-mask kept her asleep on a very comfy bed! There's lots of space to pack stuff away and everything works. For us, in our fit-50's it's been a perfect way to walk the city, consume a boozy lunch and then have a lovely base to take an afternoon snooze in! Spot on.
My son and I spent 5 nights in Semili's loft. It was a great way to have an authentic New York living experience. The loft was comfortable and spacious. Canal Street is noisy but conveniently located to great shopping and dining. Transportation to other parts of the city is easily accessible. We were happy with the whole experience.
Semeli's place was great. Located in a central spot in Manhattan, walking distance to all good neighbourhoods and very cosy. I couldnt imagine a better experience in New York. We also had the chance to meet Semeli very briefly and she was a super cool and friendly person! I can recommend this flat to anyone who is thinking about visiting New York!
Semeli was very responsive and organised. She was very flexible with check in/check out which really helped as my partners arrived early morning and had to leave a week later in the evening. check in was smooth and the place was clean and ready for us.
About the apartment:
+ Location is great , Subway near buy, 5 min walk to the heart of Soho, etc. + Very spacious/big + Clean + Comfortable & Pleasant .. you basically have everything you would need in it.
- Apartment is noisy (on Canal street which have heavy traffic to the Holland tunnel to Jersey) ..I used ear plugs to get sleep as early morning it starts to get very noisy- worked fine for me.
-Shower experience was disappointing , water flow could be improved (seemed broken)
Please note it is 3rd floor very steep stairs which made is challenging with luggage.
Overall , good experience and we had a great time staying in this cool loft.
We recently spent 1 week in this Soho apartment. Great location, really superb, at the cusp of Chinatown and Soho. To be clear, Canal street is not a delight to walk on or watch, but it is a great vase to explore from. You walk out of the apartment into a row of typical fake-brand bag, etc. seller shops. Not premium at all. But.... Walk 1 block west and you are in poshy Soho. 10 minutes to west village, 15 minutes walk to meat packing district. If you love the downtown area of manhattan, which we are fans of, you will love the accessibility and practicality of the location.
Apartment is spacious. A lot room for our toddler to wonder around safely. Decorated with style. Too much personal stuff everywhere. Not clean-cut and feels/looks very messy.
Amenities are so-so, but typical for NYC. No microwave, couldn't work the coffee machine, no laundry/ dryer.
Bathroom and kitchen could use some renovation; I think it'd add to the value of the apartment.
Tough stairs, especially with a baby/stroller or luggage. Quite a steep hike.
Feels very safe, as Sheraton is right across, so very lively, happening location, doesn't feel dodgy at all.
Semeli was very responsive to questions and requests prior and during the stay. Her friend Mjellma helps with the check-in, and most of questions/ requests during the stay. She is a very sweet person, very helpful.
Cleanliness- We were quite disappointed on this front. Apartment was honestly not clean. It was obvious that it was an amateur cleaning done fast and very shallow. I stayed with airbnb 3 times before and this is the first time, I actually bought cleaning products, went in myself and cleaned the entire bathroom for 1 hour. The pillows and comforter are also stained; these need to be changed. An apartment that is very nice in many other aspects and is not cheap requires professional and thorough cleaning, in my pov. This is really the only one main aspect We felt negatively about, but for us it is a reason to choose a different place next time (and I am really not a cleanliness freak- trust me).
The place was great, located near the subways, Not a lot of noise for NY either. Only thing I would say is that the big windows let in a lot of light in the AM, so if you are sensitive to the be aware.
