The Space

Cottage on amazingly beautiful 7 acres ocean front cliff property with stunning views. Sit on the private patio overlooking the lower part of the property and the ocean. See and hear whales during whale season. Watch the moon or rainbows on the water. Go on hikes to secluded pools or the ocean shore. Palapala Ho'omau Church (burial place of Charles Lindbergh), and Seven Sacred Pools within easy walking distance. Outside of your room is a covered Lanaii for you to enjoy. The chalet comes with the use of a separate, shared bath house and our communal kitchen. (If you prefer a private bathroom, take a look at our Ocean Front House, shown under 'More about the host' on the right). The kitchen is built around 2 trees right by the cliff, overlooking the ocean and offering a view of the big island on clear days. We are in Kipahulu, a mere 30 minute drive from Hana, in East Maui. Our property is on an ocean front cliff with 2 levels of ornamental garden and native jungle. All of our structures were designed to blend into the existing nature to create a harmonious unity. The property operates on solar power and water catchment. While resource conservation is strongly encouraged, we do feature 120V electricity, gas stoves, hot water showers, and triple-filtered drinking water. Our Uma (Hawaiian for ancient mountain goddess who mediates between heaven & earth) serves as a yoga/dance/meditation studio and, with the exception of special events, is open to our guests. If you're looking to get away from it all, to take a break and recharge yourself, look no further. You won't find a more serenely beautiful, contemplative and relaxed setting anywhere on the island.

  • My husband and I stayed here for two nights in late March and wish we could have stayed longer! The grounds and this particular chalet are absolutely beautiful and perfect for anyone looking to get off the beaten path. We have travelled all over the world and this places ranks at the top in terms of being most peaceful, relaxing and beautiful.

We enjoyed using the communal kitchen and chatting over breakfast and dinner with others staying on the property. The caretakers/hosts were also very friendly and helpful.

The location is also great, only about 5 minutes from the amazing Pipiwei Trail.

  • as a fellow AirBnB host I must say this place is perfect. Romantic, out there in the jungle with amazing views.... only bad thing is it was so nice we didn't want to leave our little hut and the ground there at all.. and Now have to go back to see what Maui is like.

since you probably read reviews before you read the full description of their place (like I did).... it is hard to find, so print his directions out before you go because you won't have cell access on gorgeous drive of the Road to Hana.

  • Absolute heaven. Definitely stay for at least 2 days. # or 4 or more would be better! I took over 250 photos of the grounds and views plus 6 videos. The plam trees clattering in the breeze, the clouds scudding across the moon, the sound of the ocean and the heavenly views, the lovely gardens, found objects, and that kitchen! A very rejuvenating place. Everything was wonderful except for "the cat and the rat" but it was one of the place I stayed on Maui that I would return to. Here is a slideshow of some of the many photos I took while I was there.

  • Wow. Truly an enchanting paradise. The pictures are gorgeous but the property is even more striking in person. I was in awe. Siddho and Miro are delightful. There are countless things to do nearby - exploring Halemano, Venus pools, black sand beach, red sand beach, Wai'anapanapa cave, fresh fruit stands, Seven Sisters waterfall hike, chatting with the other Halemano guests and more. Para-para-paradise.

Tip: Travel to the property during the day. The road is cruvy and daylight is a big help. Hana hou.

  • Halemano was what I imagine paradise to be. I could rave about it, but you really just have to experience it for yourself. Take the 'backside' road to get there (through Kula) and be sure to purchase food before you leave Kahului.

  • Beautiful idyllic setting, very unique experience. The caretaker was incredibly nice--loved our stay!

  • Halemano is a wonderful place to stay. From the lodging to the community kitchen everything was perfect. You get a completely different Maui experience compared to the more touristy Wailea. I'm definitely going to stay there again next time around.

  • Halemano is the Hawaii that everyone is searching for - its entire focus is on the simple peace found in the beauty of nature, both natural and tamed. The driveway into Halemano takes you through an unbelievably thick rain forest growth - only to emerge into a garden paradise with a beautiful detail at every turn. We will definitely return (though better prepared for the isolation of the accommodations with more groceries and mosquito repellent!) Thank you, Pushkin, for being such a gracious host.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Halemano, our second time! This is our second review, and our first review still holds - the property is awe inspiring and incredibly relaxing, with a kind and accommodating host. You couldn't ask for a better stay!
