Interaction with Guests
My name is Labis, 35, married, electrical engineer and I can give any help you need .
You can have a 30 minutes walk to Syntagma square and you are really close to Athens Music Hall. Your accommodation should be pleasant, as you don't have to move a lot in order to visit the Museum of Acropolis or the Archaeological Museum of Athens, you live in the center of Athens.
The neighborhood is really safe. There is a supermarket just in front of the building, a bakery 50meters to your left, many ATM machines around. You can eat and dine in many restaurants that you can find just by a few minutes walk from your appartment. Behind the building you can find a large park (10 minutes walk) covered with green and trees, with space for many athletic activities and a 50meters pool with a cafe to join your afternoons.
Nightlife: 15 minutes NorthWest walking distance is the area of Panormou street, which is full of bars and restaurants, Another 10 minutes SouthWest walking is Mavili square with one of the most famous bars of Athens "Briki". You may also take the metro and go to Kerameikos district. (5 stations away)
What is unique about Ambelokipi is that you stay in the center of Athens with extremely great transportation, but still you find yourselves close to the northern suburbs of Athens.
45minutes by X95 bus (24h service) from the airport - 1 hour by metro from the airport.
20min to City Center: 10min lazy walk (700meters) away from Ampelokipi Metro Station (= 3 stations away from Syntagma Square). Note that Syntagma Square is the Center of Athens and you can even walk there on foot within 30minutes.
Smoking is only allowed on the balcony.
Housekeeper is optional (arranged fee)
Linen provided only once on arrival
Please do not forget to turn off the lights and A/C upon each time you exit the apartment (=it is a waste of energy and waste of money to leave them on)
In addition please put away your rubbish at your departure.
The reservation was canceled 23 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Nice and cosy place.
Communication with Labis was optimal. He sent me direction before my arrival and recommended the bus from the airport, which is faster and cheaper than the metro. The bus runs 24/7 and the stop Karanika is about 100 m from the Apt. I met Labis's sister upon my arrival and she gave me the keys and explained how things work in the apt.
Great location close to city, easy connection to from airport. There is an express supermarket right across form the apt and a bigger one 10 min walk from the apt...worth the walk.
The building and the apt are somewhat old, the wooden floor and some appliances could use some update, but everything is clean: fresh linens, clean kitchen, clean bathroom etc.
Wifi is good and fast, A/C in the bedroom makes the hot nights much nicer.
I stayed two nights and highly recommend it as it is great value
We needed one night for an early flight from the nearby airport. Labis' sister let us in and showed us around. The neighbourhood was a good location for the airport. It was basic, fine for one night.
Apartment is rather plain and minimal, but it's fine if all you need is a place to crash. Directions make it easy to get to, and host's sister who lives in the building was quite friendly greeting me. I would note that it's a 10 minute walk to the metro at a /brisk/ pace, closer to 15 if leisurely or carrying luggage. Also, took me closer to 80 minutes door-to-terminal to get to airport by metro (although that was with an admittedly long wait for the train... your mileage may vary). Don't take the bus connection at rush hour, it will be much longer than 45min. You can get to most tourist destination in athens by metro, and it was nice to be close to a station.
The apartment itself is bare minimal, but comfortable unless you're extra picky. Some people might get weirded out that there's no showerhead or shower curtain, and bring your own shampoo. Like others mentioned, place gets a good amount of street noise at night (it's easy to find because its on a main street)... I'd be more cranky about it had I not gotten ear plugs on my overnight flight. Nevertheless, place is fine if all you need to a quick no-nonsense place to crash. Host's sister watching over the place in the building is friendly and checks up on you to answer any questions you might have. Overall, thanks for giving me a good home base on my trip! : )
Labis' gave us very good directions how to get to the flat and his sister waited there for us, welcomed us and was very friendly, too. She briefly showed us around the flat and explained everything we needed to know.
All basic things needed are there and working - warm water, kitchenette, shutters. The street the flat is on is very good to reach - but its is also very loud, and all windows are towards that street.
What was not so comfortable was that the flat was not very clean. There where fresh sheets and towels but the floors of the flat and balcony, the cups, the cubboards asf. were very dusty and relatively dirty.
The apartment was clean, the kitchen also ready to use for easy meals. Directions to the apartment were great. However it was really noisy during the nights due to the traffic. the available compass saved us twice! Can recommend for up to two people.
The Host was polite enough even during the late night to guide us in reaching the place. We were disappointed after seeing the Apartment, not as good as it seems to be in the photographs. The Apartment was not at all neat and was smelling. A very bad Kitchen which we didnt want to use after seeing it! The apartment seemed to be in a old building!
