We stayed for a second time at Fabio's , and found it as wonderful as before. He was very welcoming and friendly to us.The house is comfortable in June, cool in the day and warm at night. The veranda was relaxing for late dinners as well. Fergene is perfect as a break from Rome, and the beach was a close walk away.We definitely hope to return.
Fabio was very nice and helpful to us. The room and the house was ok! The environment was beautiful and not expensive. We were happy thzre.
Our stay at Fabio's was exactly what we were looking for in a 6 day stay outside of Rome. He was very helpful, and went out of his way to assist us with our needs. Fabio was friendly, welcoming, and easy to reach if needed. My son, aged 26 and I stayed at the villa, and found it comfortable and spacious. Our stay was the week before Christmas, so unfortunately there was no the chance to dine al fresco, however there is ample space on the veranda with a good sized garden. There were several restaurants and cafes to choose from in Fregene, and at a reasonable price. It is a very relaxing little town, with everything within a short walking distance from the villa. The beach is about a 15 minute walk, which also was a plus. Overall, we highly recommend Fabio's place.
The house was large enough so 7 people all had comfortable beds and our host was very accommodating, sending us the bus schedules and easy to follow directions. It is on the outskirts of Rome, so you need to take a 40 minute bus ride into Rome, then get on the metro to visit the main tourist places. Very peaceful neighborhood. The downsides are the wifi is really bad and the hot water ran out after the second person took a shower, but that just might be because we had 7 people. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay.
He made us feel welcome at first but felt surprised when there were two of us even though the reservation clearly was for two people. He said I should have told me that there would be two of us. Well he should of told us we would be sharing the place with two other travelers. The place is very far from the city center and during off-season good luck finding anyone who speaks English (it's difficult to ask for help understanding the public transportation especially when the available "WiFi" is slower than dialup when it is working). We had originally booked another one of his locations, nearer Rome, but he cancelled due to renovations and offered this location. The refrigerator was leaking (a lot) as well and we were told that it was because we didn't close it properly even though it's ancient. The two bikes he has on the property are old and rusty. When we arrived he had to make the beds because nothing had been prepared in advance. Communication with him was difficult unless it concerned money. What's even more obscene is that he asked the other guests who were staying there about us and even had me relay messages to them. This is probably the worst experience I've had with an airbnb host and accommodation. He runs it like a business and clearly doesn't get what airbnb is about. We would have rather stayed in a hostel. This host does not take responsibility for anything and instead blames the guests and uses other guests to spy. He is currently attempting to try to get more money out of me as well. I would never recommend this to anyone and I would suggest he read why airbnb was created. Be warned.
I come at home after Eli, he advice me that he had some problems with the bike, one tyre was flat and the pedals of the other were a bit slow. I saw the bikes, the blue one , older but still perfectly working , you should consider the near the sea all material get a bit rusty, had the crown pedals completely moving from the bike. The yellow one newer with spring and new models of gear for changing the speed was flat. Immediately you could noticed that the blue one was broken and the second had an hole so was clear from the first impression that you need someone expert to repair it. I told to Eli that to close the situation the total cost should have been 20 euros. He didn't want to know any reasons and I had no patient to discuss with him. He tried to contact to me just through whatsap and not through airbnb by making the consideration that airbnb should not consider this damages. I answer now to him that if some one that come and broke the bike and pretend not to pay it I cannot offer the room at 28 euros per day simple cos it is just the price to repair the bike, and you should also consider that other guests stay longer, more then one week, without making any damage to the bikes. Anyway after he left I found some coins on the table of Eli rooms, I tried to fix both bikes by himself but was impossible especially the blue one, and also I had some problem with the chain gear of the yellow one, so I was obliged to take both to repair and the total cost all included was 40 euro . Thank you Eli it was not honest my proposal of 20 euro to try to repair both bikes? or you pretend to be the cleverest in the word? and you never try to find a friendly solution instead just to give some coins, giving a bad review and pretend to be in the right even if you broke something? Bikes must work in Fregene cos guests really needed them so why you still insist to say that they were old and rusty, I was obliged to repair them cos they must work properly
Staying at Fregene was a great thing. It's just so nice and peaceful after a loud day in Roma and we always felt so relaxed there! Fabio is an awesome host, he made sure our vacation was going fine with his advices and constant care. He greeted us at the airport from where he picked us up and took us down to his villa. Everything was nice, clean and tidy. Fabio was really caring, he gave us his number to contact him if anything would happen or if we want a ride back home. It was a really great experience staying with Fabio overall. If I'm anytime back in Rome without a doubt I will stay with him again!
