Respect for our property. We go to bed early, and although we don't expect our guest to, quiet voices and/or TV after 9:00 would be greatly appreciated. No pets! Smoking outside is allowed.
Ed and Gretchen were wonderful, warm and welcoming hosts on a beautiful island ideal for bicycling. The advised us on interesting bike routes and great restaurants, not easily found unless local. The have an unpretentious and comfortable home with private accommodations including a pretty bedroom with large windows overlooking their wooded backyard, a separate sitting room and a full bath. The bedroom has a large closet that held our bikes and gear. We enjoyed relaxing on their wide front porch sipping local tea after our rides. Our hosts were friendly, trusting and respectful. We were treated to homemade cookies and bread. It was heartwarming to be around a couple that obviously enjoy life together. We were sad to leave on our final day.
We found our hosts very welcoming.
Our bedroom with ac, sitting room and bathroom met our needs.
Breakfast was available and we enjoyed
sitting with our hosts and sharing life stories.
It is a casual, homey venue.
It is rather remote but easy to find off main roads.
Gretchen and Ed appear to enjoy sharing their home with guests.
We had a wonderful time in this secluded home. The space they have for guests is spacious, peaceful and private. Both Ed and Gretchen are personable, friendly and most accommodating, and Bert (the cat) is entertaining as felines often are. We'll be back!
Our stay with Ed & Gretchen was very comfortable and they were more than gracious and great hosts. We enjoyed our conversations with them and Ed's homemade bread was great. We would definitely stay there again. They provided any amenities you would need for your stay. We received cookies upon arrival.
Thanks for the warm welcome, the wine:) and the conversations. We really enjoyed the time with Ed and Gretchen! The place is really quiet and about 30 min drive from Charleston. Perfect to get away from the busy town and life.
Thanks for hosting us!
Had a phenomenal time spending the weekend with Ed and Gretchen. They are very gracious hosts and are genuinely pleasant people to be around. They made us feel very welcome in their home, but even with a full treatment of that charming South Carolina hospitality, they were always very respectful of our space and privacy as well. The house was very clean and spacious, and the scenery was nice. Not a very long drive from Charleston, Folly Beach, or Magnolia Plantation. For anyone with access to a car looking to stay in the Charleston area, I highly recommend that they stay with Ed and Gretchen.
Ed and Gretchen were very welcoming and friendly. Their home is warm, peaceful and quiet and safe. It is approximately 30 min away from the central area of Charleston, thus a car is recommended; parking at the house is convenient.
Coffee, tea and breakfast were provided, which was a nice amenity also. I would recommend this place.
my wife Gretchen and I have been married for over 30 years. As for myself, I am a peaceful, spiritual, happy to be at home person. We do travel but mostly by car. We are both somewhat Sci-fi enthusiast although (other then reality shows) we enjoy a little of everything on Tv and in books. We are not vegetarians but we respect people who are. We enjoy a glass of wine every now and then, but we are neither heavy drinkers nor are we "wine snobs". We enjoy food, but our meals that we cook at home are usually simple but on the healthy side. As mentioned we respect peoples beliefs and we are not judgemental. We both love good conversation.
