The Space

"Stayed in this beautiful flat for three days and everything went so well I couldn't believe. The place is very clean, bed is comfortable and the bathroom is very clean too. The flat is close to buses and Whitechapel/Aldgate East subway station that brings you everywhere. Amazing! Go there"

Our warm and comfortable art deco apartment is a wonderful location for exploring London - situated on the very edge of the financial district and right among London's most dynamic cultural quarter including Spitalfields and Shoreditch. Close enough to the action but just far enough to be quiet and peaceful.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions! We look forward to hearing from you soon. Stay well and safe travels wished.

Interaction with Guests

A little over a year ago we started sharing our apartment and our knowledge/love of London to visitors from all over the world. Its been a wonderful experience and we have enjoyed every moment meeting and hosting people.

We have a deep fondness for London and enjoy exchanging tips and insights with people from everywhere. We are also very interested to learn about other places from our guests.

We have also compiled a useful information pack and set of books on London and are more than happy to help with any guidance for specific events, travel arrangements or alike.

We are a married couple and we also work together. We run a publishing company and organise events that explore questions about what it means to live in 21C cities. We are both in our mid-30s. We have a young child.

The Neighborhood

Our neighbourhood is one of the last neighbourhoods that hasn't been fully gentrified - thus has a more community feel. Come soon, as this likely to change very soon unfortunately!

Turn right out of building entrance and you are at the famous Lahore Kebab House, turn left and you are at the famous and possibly unbeatable Tayyabs restaurant. Everything else including the worlds longest continuous bell foundry (Liberty bell etc) are all in comfortable walking distance from the apartment:

River Thames: Tower of London (15-20mins), Tower Bridge (15-20mins), Design Museum, City Hall

Spitalfields Market: (10-15mins): antiques, art, independent clothing and jewellery stalls, 'world' food and vintage clothing) Bars and galleries galore.

Brick Lane: (5-7mins)Restaurants, bars, galleries, galleries, fashion retailers)

Borough Market (25 mins) Food market by the Thames

Broadway Market (15 mins by bus) - vintage clothing, great food, quirky shops, cafes

Columbia Road Flower Market (20-25mins): World-famous flower market, vintage shops - open on Sunday's only - unmissable beauty if you stay on a Sunday)

Whitechapel Gallery (7 mins) - important contemporary gallery and bookshop

St Paul's Cathedral (10 mins by bus), Bank of England, Royal Exchange, London Stock Exchange, Tate Modern

City of London (5 -10 mins) The Gherkin (Norman Foster), The Shard (Renzo Piano), Lloyd's Bank (Richard Rogers)

Greenwich (30mins Docklands Light rail) The National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich Market and Cutty Sark dominate central Greenwich and the view across London from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park is outstanding. Close by you’ll find The O2 arena, Emirates Air Line, the British Music Experience, the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, Charlton House and Eltham Palace.

Aldgate East (5-7mins) a short walk away is on the Circle Line - the main line for most of the main tourist attractions in London.

Getting around

Great rail, tube, DLR and bus services. Aldgate East is in Zone 1.

Tube lines: Circle, District, Metropolitan, East London and Central Line. The Circle Line (yellow) which stops at Aldgate East is known as the tourist tube line - as almost all major tourist destinations can be reached via the Circle Line. Docklands Light Railway is close by - Shadwell Station the closest.

Buses: 15 (Trafalgar Square), 25 (Oxford Circus), 135 (Old Street), 205 (Paddington), 254 (Hackney).

Good rail connections in and out of London via Liverpool St, Cannon St and Blackfriars Bridge - all close by.

Other Things to Note

Our apartment is in an 'old' building (built in the 1930's) - one of the last buildings not to be gentrified. The flat itself is very clean and organised and we enjoy keeping it this way. We think you will find it a relaxing, warm and welcoming place to stay.

  • Deepa and Trenton have a lovely accessible flat in London. I did not have to worry about arriving at a certain time because my hosts gave me instructions for entering the apartment without them present.

I felt very comfortable in their neighborhood and had no problems reaching the underground stations. They gave me detailed instructions before I arrived so I had no trouble with navigation.

Finally, Deepa and Trenton themselves were delightful hosts. I spent some time chatting with both and they shared tips and interesting facts about their city.

Thank you for a wonderful time in London. I would certainly consider coming back in the near future.

  • The perfect place to stay in East London! We were attending a course and had little time to explore the city during day time. Therefore, it was fantastic to live both close to the City of London, the Thames, Docklands and Shoreditch. The flat was lovely and Deepa, Trenton and their adorable little daughter were very welcoming. All the best, Kristin & Ingvild

  • Deepa and Trenton are lovely hosts, and very communicative. Finding their place is easy, and their keys easy to access if you come in at an odd hour. The bed is spacious, though the room may be cramped if two people have luggage in there. The shower is a bit tricky to navigate because it's hand-held only, but not that big of a deal for a few showers.

All in all, this is a really affordable, clean, cozy, and safe place to call home while you're in London!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Deepa and Trentons apartment. The location was excellent, walking distance to everything. They were such friendly and welcoming hosts too, they really made us feel at home and offered great advice for sightseeing and transportation. I would highly recommend, and would stay again if ever we are back in London!

  • Deepa and Trenton were extraordinarily nice! They accepted our last minute booking, were kind, and a pleasure to stay with. The room was quiet, comfy, and clean. If they'd have us back, I would not have a single reservation about staying with them again.

  • the flat is very near of the underground and the central city at once. Deepa and Trenton are very discreet and agreable

  • After 90+ positive reviews they obviously don't really need more, but we have to say Deepa and Trenton were excellent hosts! They gave good advice on where to go and what to do. The beautiful, bohemian apartment is in a great location!
