Had a lovely weekend in the garden studio! Ursula was very warm and welcoming, offered a handful of recommendations for the area and was very accommodating with out schedule. You couldn't ask for a better location as the back of the garden led straight to the river. We used the kayak's and although the water was pretty low, we had a great time paddling along. I would definitely recommend this airbnb to others and hope to come back later in the summer.
I took my wife up to Guerneville for a recent get-a-away, not fully knowing what to expect. We had heard of Guerneville's laid-back and whimsical reputation and decided to see for ourselves. We were delightfully surprised to find not only a beautiful and comfy property, nestled in a friendly and hip community, but also a wonderful host in Ursula.
Ursula made us feel instantly at home and doted upon my wife and I like a loving mom. We literally sat for almost three hours; talking, drinking beer and listening to fascinating stories of her life.
At the end of our stay, we felt very privileged, not only to share her lovely home, but also her enchanting company.
Thank you Ursula, our kindred spirit.
Ursula's studio was everything it appears in the photos: charming, well thought out, clean and comfortable. We cooked a few meals in the kitchenette and enjoyed eating them in the lovely garden right outside the door.
The addition of using her kayaks (at no extra charge) was a big plus for us, and bringing them to the river was relatively easy.
Ursula did everything she could to help us feel at home and have our needs met, including sharing some details of the town and where to eat out (a vegetarian diet is not always easy to match up). Her family members were equally friendly when they stopped by, while also allowing us the privacy we needed. They are folks we would love to know better if we lived closer. The rental was a fun & creative alternative to motel stay at a very reasonable price!
Folks who are new to airbnb should understand the units are often in residential neighborhoods and include the normal daytime neighborhood sounds (including construction noises). This took my partner by surprise. But once boating in the river, or sitting in the garden with a glass of wine, we did our best to let it fade into background and enjoy the beauty of the place.
Ursula is a kind and lovely host, she showed us around and respected our privacy when needed. The studio is exactly as pictured and the garden and view of the surroundings hills from inside is spectacular. Kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal minus a microwave. The water level of the river was low when we arrived unfortunately and we did not get a chance to kayak. Highly recommend.
About the Host, Ursula
I came from Germany many years ago and have made my home here in Guerneville for the last 14 years. I have been working as a professor in San Francisco for a long time. - I love my house and surroundings; the beauty of it all is breath taking. Much delights me: Swimming in the river, kayaking. gardening and cooking. - I would like to share this abundance here with my guests.
