Interaction with Guests
I interact with guests as much as they would like. I love being a host to our home and to Charlottesville, and am happy to chat with you about things to do here. However, I completely respect guests' privacy and want you to feel you are in your own apartment/hotel suite and feel no obligation to talk in person. I appreciate communication via text/email, as I use my iphone a lot. Some guests I never see, some I see on repeated visits.
We are in the neighborhood of Fifeville, just four blocks from West Main Street (by the Main Street Market), a 5/10 minute walk to the Downtown Mall, and a 20 minute walk to UVA and the Corner. Walk to Amtrak and Greyhound. Right by the free trolley line. It is an eclectic neighborhood, fairly historic, gentrifying as more people want to buy close to the center of town.

Other Things to Note
We have a home building business focused on building unique single family homes on urban infill lots (Latitude 38). We are very versed in what's going on in the City. Joey is from Charlottesville and Jeff moved here from San Francisco about eight years ago. We love to travel and explore cities. We love to walk and bike, and love where we live because it is so close to everything.
We have two small girls, currently 3 and 4 years old. The reality at this point is that for about 1-2 hrs in the morning and a couple hours in the evening they tend to run and around, bang and drop things, cry and laugh, and generally are hard to keep to a total quiet. If you are a family, we are a great place to stay, as you can make as much noise as you need. If you are sensitive to noise or do not want to feel as though you are part of someone's house, this is not the spot for you. However, we are never loud past 8pm.
We used to have a dog and our yard is fenced in. Let us know what kind of pet you have and we may be okay with him/her.
The apartment is in our home, so we prefer it to stay fairly quiet. No parties. Guests are fine. We go to bed pretty early, so it should be quite quiet for you as well as night. We hope you will use our home as your home. Use it, but respect it.
Please let me know if you need early or late check in/out. I can usually accommodate it, but it helps with planning, as we schedule turnovers based on scheduled departures.
Please put any used towels in a pile in shower.
Let us know if anything does not function or gets broken while you are here.
Please smoke out back on the patio.
If you have a pet, please let me know prior to booking.
This private apartment was beautifully designed and in the perfect location within walking distance to the downtown mall and UVA. Joey made us feel very welcome and provided all the amenities we could ever need. She was very accommodating to our needs and we would definitely stay at one of her properties again!
Joey's apartment was perfect - well-located, immaculate, quiet. Joey was a responsive and welcoming host who left helpful tips and cold local cider in the fridge. Everything was easy to find, and my stay was very comfortable. I'd definitely recommend Joey's charming place, and will stay there again next time I'm in town.
We had an excellent time staying at Joey's place. If we are ever visiting Charlottesville again, this will be our first choice for our stay. The apartment was comfortable, clean, and cool (both in aesthetic and for beating the Virginia heat)!
We had a fabulous week in Joey's apartment. The space is beautiful and was ample for our family of two adults and two kids under 6. Joey and her family provided everything for our comfort and enjoyment, from beer and coffee waiting for us in the kitchen to toys and companionship for our kids. Easy 20-minute walk to UVA "Corner," 5-minute walk to the free trolley and to restaurants along the very happening Main St strip between UVA and the downtown mall. The Fifeville neighborhood is fascinating and very friendly. Highly, highly recommended!!
Joey texted with me in the days before the trip and I felt clear about the location of the apartment, how to get there, and that I could access it with ease when I arrived.
The apartment is a perfect size with lots of natural light, high quality clean white linens and towels, and a kitchen nicely stocked with dishes and cookware; everything you might need. She even had a few eggs, juice, and milk in the fridge.
The decorations are hip and unfussy, clean lines and free of clutter with a few key pieces of interesting art. The cleaning and bathing products are organic which was appreciated.
Joey let me know she was available if needed, or I could text her easily. She loaned me a bike for the afternoon which was wonderful. The apartment is in a great location, just a couple of blocks from cute shops and good food. Highly recommended.
The place was perfect. My mother, my two daughters and I stayed for two nights while attending a wedding in Charlottesville. The apartment had everything we needed and then some. My 11 year old loved the drum set. There was coffee, tea, juice and lots of great goodies. The design is really beautiful and we really appreciated that everything was so comfortable. The gardens and yard that surround the apartment are lovely. The surrounding neighborhood is historic and diverse. The in and out was easy and the off street parking was a really nice feature because we came in late each night.
This was our second time staying with Joey and it was just as perfect as our first visit!
We are especially grateful that Joey accommodated our late arrival and noon departure. We hope to stay there again sometime!

About the Host, Joey
We are a busy young entrepreneurial family. Joey was born and grew up in Charlottesville, just off of the Downtown Mall. After going to college in the northeast and living in South America, she returned home, where she had various non-profit and real estate jobs, went to grad school, and started a home building business with Jeff. Jeff came to town via Habitat for Humanity from San Francisco. We love to get out there once a year and try to take the train to visit friends in Philadelphia and New York when we can. Charlottesville is awesome, but sometimes you got to get out.
