Interaction with Guests
I interact with guests as much as they would like. I love being a host to our home and to Charlottesville, and am happy to chat with you about things to do here. However, I completely respect guests' privacy and want you to feel you are in your own apartment/hotel suite and feel no obligation to talk in person. I appreciate communication via text/email, as I use my iphone a lot. Some guests I never see, some I see on repeated visits.
We are in the neighborhood of Fifeville, just four blocks from West Main Street (by the Main Street Market), a 5/10 minute walk to the Downtown Mall, and a 20 minute walk to UVA and the Corner. Walk to Amtrak and Greyhound. Right by the free trolley line. It is an eclectic neighborhood, fairly historic, gentrifying as more people want to buy close to the center of town.

Other Things to Note
We have a home building business focused on building unique single family homes on urban infill lots (Latitude 38). We are very versed in what's going on in the City. Joey is from Charlottesville and Jeff moved here from San Francisco about eight years ago. We love to travel and explore cities. We love to walk and bike, and love where we live because it is so close to everything.
We have two small girls, currently 3 and 4 years old. The reality at this point is that for about 1-2 hrs in the morning and a couple hours in the evening they tend to run and around, bang and drop things, cry and laugh, and generally are hard to keep to a total quiet. If you are a family, we are a great place to stay, as you can make as much noise as you need. If you are sensitive to noise or do not want to feel as though you are part of someone's house, this is not the spot for you. However, we are never loud past 8pm.
We used to have a dog and our yard is fenced in. Let us know what kind of pet you have and we may be okay with him/her.
The apartment is in our home, so we prefer it to stay fairly quiet. No parties. Guests are fine. We go to bed pretty early, so it should be quite quiet for you as well as night. We hope you will use our home as your home. Use it, but respect it.
Please let me know if you need early or late check in/out. I can usually accommodate it, but it helps with planning, as we schedule turnovers based on scheduled departures.
Please put any used towels in a pile in shower.
Let us know if anything does not function or gets broken while you are here.
Please smoke out back on the patio.
If you have a pet, please let me know prior to booking.
Tops for the three "C's" we look for in lodging - Clean, comfortable, convenient. Quick walk to the Charlottesville mall, restaurants, bars. While a basement apartment, well lit with a good bed. Great place and well worth the stay. We'll be back.
Joey's apartment was amazing! We had a wonderful stay with our 8 year old son. It was clean, well stocked, quiet and extremely comfortable. Joey provided legos, books and toys for our delighted son and recommended a great sitter for us! The bed was so comfortable and the sound machine was a welcomed touch. There were local bagels. juice, beer, honey, coffee and plenty of cooking condiments available in the well equipped kitchen. Minutes to the downtown mall. We highly recommend and will definitely stay with Joey on return visits to Charlottesville.
We had a great stay at this apartment! Everything about the experience (our first AirBNB stay) was positive. The space was perfect. Great character, amenities, and just enough for a family looking to get away for a couple of days. Check in was easy, so was check out. Instructions were detailed and welcoming. I felt encouraged to treat the space as my own for our stay. Our hosts were as attentive as we wanted them to be, which is to say we checked in occasionally, but mostly kept to ourselves. I had high confidence that if we had had any issues that would've required our hosts’ attention, that they would've been attended to immediately. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
My stay was amazing. Location was great. Walking distance to Main Street. Very private and well kept space. Highly recommended
Joey's place was fantastic, and even more than I expected! The place was a full home, complete with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, and a seperate bedroom with TV. The water pressure for the shower was great, and they even provide books and DVDs for you to watch. The bed was also extremely comfortable, with large fluffy pillows provided!
The location of the house is also ideally close to the downtown mall in Cville and within a short walking distance to the Corner. It is also just 6-8minutes walk to the train/greyhound station.
Joey herself was also a fantastic host, and helpfully provided breakfast items and orange juice! She also checked in during my stay to ensure that I found the place alright, and if I had any issues.
Definetely recommend this place if you are visiting CVille for a while, and woud like to have a proper home!
This private apartment was beautifully designed and in the perfect location within walking distance to the downtown mall and UVA. Joey made us feel very welcome and provided all the amenities we could ever need. She was very accommodating to our needs and we would definitely stay at one of her properties again!
Joey's apartment was perfect - well-located, immaculate, quiet. Joey was a responsive and welcoming host who left helpful tips and cold local cider in the fridge. Everything was easy to find, and my stay was very comfortable. I'd definitely recommend Joey's charming place, and will stay there again next time I'm in town.

About the Host, Joey
We are a busy young entrepreneurial family. Joey was born and grew up in Charlottesville, just off of the Downtown Mall. After going to college in the northeast and living in South America, she returned home, where she had various non-profit and real estate jobs, went to grad school, and started a home building business with Jeff. Jeff came to town via Habitat for Humanity from San Francisco. We love to get out there once a year and try to take the train to visit friends in Philadelphia and New York when we can. Charlottesville is awesome, but sometimes you got to get out.
