As much or as little as they like. We may be in another space on the property, or away at the time of their visit.
Easy access to the cultural and environmental amenities of Northern New Mexico...the Pueblos, the Opera, the mountains, the High Road to Taos, skiing, rafting, Ojo Caliente, and to Santa Fe, where we work and go to school every day. it's the best of all worlds!
We recommend that you have your own transportation. There is some public transportation nearby, and we have given rides to guests to access it, but your visit will be much more flexible if you have a car.

From Sep 1 - Nov 30, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
We loved staying at Julie and Scott's house. It was cozy and warm, perfect for the chilly holiday week. We especially loved curling up in front of the gas fireplace in the front room. As hosts, they thought of everything, and their older son was nearby to help us with anything we needed. One of the few places we've stayed that really felt like home.
Julie and Scott are superb hosts. Our family (7 adults) was completely comfortable, spreading out in this warm, whimsical and utterly inviting home. The acreage is gorgeous, graced with a running stream, a friendly horse, grazing cattle, and neighboring goats. The night before Thanksgiving we had a blazing bonfire under a million stars - you can't get that in the city! Speaking of cities, the location is accessible to both Santa Fe and Taos and the not-to-be-missed Ojos Caliente hot springs resort. Julie and Scott offered great suggestions for restaurants and to-dos, set out plentiful and delicious breakfast offerings. The beds are comfy, linens fresh, books line the walls and all in all, we felt as at home as at home. Just what we'd hoped for in the land of enchantment! Thanks for the memories!
We felt right at home at Julie and Scot's...so welcome and yet encouraged to do our thing. We spent two nights over a weekend here -- two parents and two daughters, 16 and 20. We slept well in 3 wonderful sleeping spaces. We enjoyed the animals, particularly Belle, and the light breakfast food was just perfect to get our day going.
The house was even more interesting and comfortable than described. The neighborhood is very quiet, rural. There is a nice trail nearby among the Hoodoos that my daughter went for a run on and enjoyed. There are farm animals and a nice stream to check out as well.
We spent one day going to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs (worth the time and investment -- and the hiking trails are nice) and the other day exploring Taos and Arroyo Seco. It was a special family weekend for us; those get harder and harder as the girls get older.
We are grateful for Julie and Scot's warm hospitality!
Thank you Julie and Scott for sharing your home with us. We had an amazing but too short stay. We loved your home, Bella, Palo, and the fun hats. There was time to relax, go to Santa Fe, and the hot springs. The whole family enjoyed being together with fun, food, and laughter. Until next time...be well and thanks for a beautiful and peaceful end to 2012.
We had a terrific time at the Bennett's house! The property was so fun to explore for our girls and they had a terrific time playing with the dog, the cat, the horse, the goats next door, and in the river out back. The house is very comfy and has so much character. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Julie and Scott, but they gave us lots of great information prior to our arrival and their son Max took great care of making sure we had what we needed. We truly appreciated the awesome spread of breakfast selections and would highly recommend the property to anyone looking to get away, but still wanting to be close to some of the treats northern NM has to offer.
What a wonderful retreat! Julie could not have been more accommodating, hospitable, helpful and lovely. Her home was clean, spacious, comfortable, cozy and packed full of all the vacation necessities (ample games, movies, books, a stocked kitchen, a new grill, surrounded by nature, quiet, and peaceful). Upon our arrival Julie made sure to answer any questions we had about the house and was also kind enough to assist us with an amazing list of things to do, see, eat, etc. It was like having a personal guide into Santa Fe and the surrounding area. Top rated. If you're going NM, I would highly recommend looking her up. Our group had the best time! Thanks Julie!
Since our group's stay at Julie and Scott's beautiful home, we've decided that we want to build a commune and live together all the time. This will be tricky, since four of us live in Texas and three in New York City, but if we can figure out how to create as hospitable and welcoming a place as this, we'll do it.
We were in Santa Fe for a dear friend's wedding and decided to stay at this farmhouse for budgetary reasons, and so we could all spend time together. Our party comprised two couples, a baby, and two single gals. Julie and Scott went above and beyond to make us feel welcome -- including making their master bedroom available for myself, my husband, and 10-month-old.
The house is huge! Each room has ample privacy. Baffled by the time change, our kiddo woke up at 4:30 every morning, but even with his chatting and bumping around, no one else heard him in the other rooms. There's a charming kitchen with a long table perfect for home-cooked meals and a warm and cozy living room, which is where we gathered to catch up, tell stories, and enjoy each others' company. Several of us ambled around the property to say hi to the livestock, and all of us enjoyed the lived-in, family feel of the home.
The house is about a 35 minute drive from the Santa Fe plaza, which we knew going into our stay and wasn't too bad, especially considering the extraordinary savings and extra amenities we enjoyed staying here rather than in a generic hotel in town.
Julie was very responsive before we booked and kindly answered all of my many questions. My only regret was that I didn't get to meet her in person while we were there!
Do note that in their "House Rules" they mention their cat, Bella. She was personable and kept mostly to herself, but you should take note if anyone in your party is allergic to cats and plan accordingly. (Two of us just had to pick up some allergy medicine.) She is present throughout the house!
Also, it was quite cold when we stayed (lows in the upper teens), and while the house is heated and all the beds have cozy comforters, it's chilly when you're walking around, so bring layers and house slippers for the most comfort.
Thanks again to Julie and Scott for welcoming us into your home! We had a truly marvelous time and would definitely stay again.

About the Host, Julie And Scott
We are an easy-going family of three. Scott is a salesman in the automotive industry and I am a museum and interior designer currently working as a sales representative at Santa Fe by Design, a plumbing and hardware showroom. Our younger son is a student at the Santa Fe Waldorf High School, and an aspiring large animal veterinarian. We share our house with Bella and Bodhi, feline and canine, and they love our guests without being over-bearing.
We spend a lot of time taking care of our land and also enjoy hiking, skiing, the arts, good friendships and all the cultural activities in this area. We are happy to help get you acquainted with all that northern New Mexico has to offer, even some activities which are not readily accessible to most tourists. Yoga studios, no problem, foodie interests, we have you covered, the arts in all its local iterations, hiking and biking destinations...even fly fishing pursuits can be supported during your stay. And we are happy to give you a tour of our riverfront property and either explain or demonstrate irrigation practices that date from the Spanish settlement and introduce you to our horse and cows. This is an authentic northern New Mexico home and community...a friendly glimpse into all our area has to offer. Feel welcome!
