Williamsburg, currently one of New York's hippest neighborhoods, is an unlikely amalgam of small houses, warehouses, clubs, coffee shops (LOTS of coffee shops) galleries, new condominiums, dozens of restaurants, a wonderful book shop, bars, performance spaces, a world-class cheese shop, thrift stores, clothing boutiques, and looming remnants of the New York waterfront's industrial past.
Our apartment is on North 7th Street, two and a half blocks from the Bedford Ave stop on the L train, the first stop in Brooklyn and a 5-minute ride from Union Square. It's a half-block from the East River State Park, which has summer concerts and a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline. An esplanade runs south along the river. From a landing at North 6th Street there’s ferry service to various stops in Manhattan and Brooklyn. There's a running track in nearby McCarren Park and a bike path along Kent Avenue. At the end of our block, every weekend between April and November, there's Smorgasburg: an outdoor artisanal food market where approximately 75 vendors sell both packaged and prepared food, from pulled pork sandwiches to fried anchovies and heavenly donuts (Saturdays). On Sundays, there's the open-air Brooklyn Flea, a mix of booths selling vintage, antique, and handmade goods, as well as food vendors.
We supply sheets and towels.
We don't charge a cleaning fee.
We speak French, German, and Italian.

Bob was an awesome host! He arranged the visit so that we felt welcome and had all of the information we needed, without oversharing or being annoying. Haha. The pre-info was perfect, and the place was even better! The apartment was awesome. I loved the garden courtyard, the neighborhood, the beds, and the beautiful light-filled rooms. I would absolutely stay at this apartment again, and will recommend it for friends wanting to stay in Williamsburg. Once again, an Airbnb Win!
The apartment itself is fine, clean and well located. It's only a couple of blocks walk from the subway and only took us about 20 - 30 mins to get to midtown Manhattan, unless there was a hold up for some reason. The ferry across East river is also nice, great views of Manhattan.
There are lots of good bars and restaurants in the area, lots to see and do.
I didn't meet the host but the friend I was staying with at the Air BnB had a weird encounter with someone on the doorstep - really rude and aggressive. Initially we thought must be a next door neighbor who didn't like the fact that the apartment was being let out. It then turned out that that's the guy who owns the apartment! So nice location and clean inside, but I wouldn't recommend it and I won't be going back myself.
wow. your review makes me feel like i've been punched in the stomach. i do wish you had asked me what happened. as you can tell from our reviews we have never had a complaint of this nature and i really believe it was completely unwarranted.
i came home late one night and a man was standing outside our building, blocking the doorway. when he just continued standing there, i looked perplexed and he said he was leaving a key under the outside doormat for a friend. i asked him to please do it while i was standing there so that no one walking up the street would see him do it; in other words for our mutual protection. i showed him my key (which looked just like the one he was holding in his hand) in order to assure him that i also had a right to be there but he still questioned my right to be there at all. i gave up trying to convince him to be discreet and went in the house.
We had a nice time in Bob's apartment and would love to come back again. The flat was clean and Sevgi was very helpfull with the key and our bags.
My husband and I stayed at the BnoB for a long weekend with another couple and had a wonderful visit! The apartment was very comfortable and Bob and Sevgi were great! Williamsburg is a charming neighborhood with tons of cute shops and delicious restaurants. We really appreciated the list of recommendations that Bob provided. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to return soon!
The host gave us a great description of how to find the apartment and she was there to let us in upon arrival. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Exactly what we needed!
The apartment was fantastic, felt homie and comfortable. It was a good amount of space for the 3 of us, 4 people would have fit fine too. The neighborhood is great, was very convenient with lots to do in walking distance, and the L train was a short few blocks away into the city. Would certainly recommend in the future!
