Our 1,100 square-foot condo is part of a 6-unit buidling dating to the late 1880s. It's cozy, tastefully decorated, and full of light. One bedroom has a queen bed and the second has a double bed. We have a Dell desktop computer with Internet access, WiFi, three televisions, (all with HD Direct TV; two with DVRs) and an all-in-one printer/fax/scanner/copier. Our shared rooftop deck offers views of the Palace of Fine Arts, the Marina District, the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, Angel Island and Alcatraz. From the window seats in our living room and our 2nd bedroom, you have a view down Fillmore Street to Marina Green and the San Francisco Bay (a great place to read and/or take a nap!).
Clean towels will be provided and both beds will be made up with fresh linens (though likely not ironed!). If requested, we will put a baby gate at the top of our stairs. We also have a Pack 'N Play and an inflatable toddler mattress if needed. Please note, however, that our home is no longer baby-"proofed."
Cow Hollow, which lies between Pacific Heights and The Marina, is ideal for those familiar with San Francisco and those new to it. It is known for being clean, safe and central. Historic Union and Fillmore Streets, which offer some of the best shopping, dining, and nightlife in The City, are literally steps from our door. Also just minutes from us are: The Presidio/Crissy Field, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, and the various "Hills" - Nob, Telegraph & Russian. At the bottom of our block, you can catch a bus (or a taxi) to all of the above plus Union Square/downtown, Chinatown, AT&T Park, SoMa, theaters, multiple BART stations, The Ferry Building Marketplace - virtually anywhere in The City. With Marin County, Oakland/Berkeley, the Napa & Sonoma Valleys, Santa Cruz, Stinson Beach, and the Sierra Nevadas also nearby, there's enough to do for a lifetime of visits.
Parking in our neighborhood is limited to 2 hours Monday through Friday (no worries on weekends). If you don't want to bother moving your car, there are several reasonably-priced garages within walking distance of our home.
We are a family of four ... Cathy, Jeff, Mick (9), and our golden cocker retriever, Dakota. We own a local bar/restaurant, which Jeff has run for 20 years, and I work part-time for myself at home. We have a family cabin in Serene Lakes (Donner Summit - just west of Lake Tahoe) where we spend a lot of time hiking and enjoying the outdoors. We are SF Giants fans and often have 2 tickets for sale if you are, too! We have been part of a home exchange network for years, so we have had lots of practice being good hosts (and guests).
Disclosures!! We live in our home with a dog and a 4th-grader, so while we promise it'll be clean, you may find a stray dog hair or two and/or the random artifact of a 10-year-old. Also, as our home is in an area with lots of restaurants and bars, you'll likely be serenaded by late-night revelers on certain nights.
Interaction with Guests
Depending on our schedules, we may or may not be in town during our guests' stay. We do have a place to stay just blocks from our home and oftentimes we will be there if Mick has school or if Jeff is working. Mick and Cathy usually opt to visit "Gramma" or go to Serene Lakes on weekends when Jeff is working. We have a code lock on our door, so it isn't necessary for us to be present when guests arrive or depart.
Please treat our home with respect and leave it the way you found it! Our biggest concern is that guests are respectful of the neighbors both above and below us - please, no parties and no excessive noise (we can recommend places for that!). If something gets broken, please let us know so that our son and/or dog don't get blamed unnecessarily somewhere down the line!
When we decided to go visit our daughter in SanFrancisco, our two kids said to use Airbnb instead of going to a hotel. My husband and I had never before considered something like this, but when I went on the website it looked very nice and convenient. We ended up renting a wonderful home away from home and we would definitely do it again! Our welcoming host family was very considerate to us as guests in their lovely home. They made us feel welcome and comfortable especially after a long day of traveling. It was a wonderful stay and as I said, we will definitely do it again!
We had the perfect stay, in the perfect apartment when in San Francisco this last month. The apartment was beautifully designed and installed and perfectly clean and comfortable. It helped enormously that it felt rather like our own home so we settled in immediately. In the run up to the stay, Cathy had been perfect in making sure that we had everything that we needed - even offering to help advise us on our road trip leading up to our stay. She was happy to meet extra requests that we made too. This was our first airbnb experience so we weren't wholly prepared for what to expect. I realise now, having stayed in two other apartments, that Cathy's is up there in the top rankings. The equipping of the kitchen alone should receive 5 stars. My 16 year old daughter was very grateful for the wifi and the cosy window seats and her own fabulous nest of a bedroom. Perect really. The area was great for food shopping and had a good range of restaurants and cafes. Good transport connections into town and easy walks down to the marina. We would definitely stay here again.
The apartment was exactly as charming as advertised and the kitchen is wonderfully well equipped. The building is really typical of SF and allows a real experience. The location is wonderful, plenty of fine cafe's and restaurants. We did not met the owners but the recommendations inside the apartment book are great enough to help new comers.
This was a perfect place to stay. Great shopping, dining, and entertaining right in the neighbourhood. We practically lived on the rooftop terrace it was so beautiful up there. Cathy left a lot of thoughtful touches like an info book that answered all our questions and had lots of suggestions with addresses, directions and phone numbers. I was with my family so it was so much better than the hotel rooms we had been staying in.
Fantastic experience. The owners provided us with great background materials on the area and made sure we had local contacts in case of any issues. Condo was perfect and beautifully clean and spacious. In a fantastic area with great restaurants but also remaining a quiet and peaceful flat. Perfect stay with hosts leaving all the basics for us - grocery basics and any bathroom basics we may have forgotten. Could not recommend highly enough.
Cathy's condo was the perfect home base for exploring San Francisco!! There are so many restaurants and shops within a block of the home and public transportation was also super easy. The home itself is decorated beautifully and it was so great to have DirecTV (I've been renovating my home for a couple of months and have been doing without). It was really easy to coordinate everything with Cathy and responses to any questions asked came quickly. Thanks so much for a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!
Such a wonderful experience. The flat was beautiful and in the heart of a fantastic neighborhood with great shops, restaurants and coffee houses in walking distance. Public transportation was one block away so getting around all of SF was easy. This was our first AirBnB experience & Cathy was fantastic. Communication was almost instantaneous making the process effortless. Cathy even provided a great overview of the SF area with a locals' perspective to hit the hot spots during our stay . I would highly recommend this flat to anyone & can only hope my next experience is a good.

We are Cathy, Jeff, Mick (age 9), and Dakota (the dog) Jordan. We love San Francisco and the opportunity to share it with others - whether it be through (website hidden) or AirBNB. We own a local bar/restaurant, which is 2 blocks from our house and Cathy has a small, home-based business that allows for lots of time to be a mom. Mick is 9 and in the 4th grade. When not enjoying The City, we like to venture out of it and go backpacking, hiking, fishing, golfing, skiing, beaching, etc. Jeff is an avid runner, bike rider, sailor, and SF Giants fan. Cathy likes to cook, walk the City's hills (preferably while listening to a good audio book), read, go to movies, and spend time with friends and her mom. Mick likes "recess," reading books that make him laugh, swimming, going to Gramma's house, and playing with his friends and our dog, Dakota (who we all adore). Cathy's mom has a cabin at Serene Lakes (Soda Springs/Donner Summit) and we spend as much time there as we can.
AirBNB asks if we have a "life motto" and while we don't really have one, we often quote a favorite Mick Jagger lyric: "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you'll find, you get what you need."
