The Space

Our 1,100 square-foot condo is part of a 6-unit buidling dating to the late 1880s. It's cozy, tastefully decorated, and full of light. One bedroom has a queen bed and the second has a double bed. We have a Dell desktop computer with Internet access, WiFi, three televisions, (all with HD Direct TV; two with DVRs) and an all-in-one printer/fax/scanner/copier. Our shared rooftop deck offers views of the Palace of Fine Arts, the Marina District, the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, Angel Island and Alcatraz. From the window seats in our living room and our 2nd bedroom, you have a view down Fillmore Street to Marina Green and the San Francisco Bay (a great place to read and/or take a nap!).

Clean towels will be provided and both beds will be made up with fresh linens (though likely not ironed!). If requested, we will put a baby gate at the top of our stairs. We also have a Pack 'N Play and an inflatable toddler mattress if needed. Please note, however, that our home is no longer baby-"proofed."

Cow Hollow, which lies between Pacific Heights and The Marina, is ideal for those familiar with San Francisco and those new to it. It is known for being clean, safe and central. Historic Union and Fillmore Streets, which offer some of the best shopping, dining, and nightlife in The City, are literally steps from our door. Also just minutes from us are: The Presidio/Crissy Field, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, and the various "Hills" - Nob, Telegraph & Russian. At the bottom of our block, you can catch a bus (or a taxi) to all of the above plus Union Square/downtown, Chinatown, AT&T Park, SoMa, theaters, multiple BART stations, The Ferry Building Marketplace - virtually anywhere in The City. With Marin County, Oakland/Berkeley, the Napa & Sonoma Valleys, Santa Cruz, Stinson Beach, and the Sierra Nevadas also nearby, there's enough to do for a lifetime of visits.

Parking in our neighborhood is limited to 2 hours Monday through Friday (no worries on weekends). If you don't want to bother moving your car, there are several reasonably-priced garages within walking distance of our home.

We are a family of four ... Cathy, Jeff, Mick (9), and our golden cocker retriever, Dakota. We (email hidden)/restaurant, which Jeff has run for 20 years, and I work part-time for myself at home. We have a family cabin in Serene Lakes (Donner Summit - just west of Lake Tahoe) where we spend a lot of time hiking and enjoying the outdoors. We are SF Giants fans and often have 2 tickets for sale if you are, too! We have been part of a home exchange network for years, so we have had lots of practice being good hosts (and guests).

Disclosures!! We live in our home with a dog and a 4th-grader, so while we promise it'll be clean, you may find a stray dog hair or two and/or the random artifact of a 10-year-old. Also, as our home is in an area with lots of restaurants and bars, you'll likely be serenaded by late-night revelers on certain nights.

Interaction with Guests

Depending on our schedules, we may or may not be in town during our guests' stay. We do have a place to stay just blocks from our home and oftentimes we will be there if Mick has school or if Jeff is working. Mick and Cathy usually opt to visit "Gramma" or go to Serene Lakes on weekends when Jeff is working. We have a code lock on our door, so it isn't necessary for us to be present when guests arrive or depart.

  • Cathy's condo was the perfect home base for exploring San Francisco!! There are so many restaurants and shops within a block of the home and public transportation was also super easy. The home itself is decorated beautifully and it was so great to have DirecTV (I've been renovating my home for a couple of months and have been doing without). It was really easy to coordinate everything with Cathy and responses to any questions asked came quickly. Thanks so much for a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!

  • Such a wonderful experience. The flat was beautiful and in the heart of a fantastic neighborhood with great shops, restaurants and coffee houses in walking distance. Public transportation was one block away so getting around all of SF was easy. This was our first AirBnB experience & Cathy was fantastic. Communication was almost instantaneous making the process effortless. Cathy even provided a great overview of the SF area with a locals' perspective to hit the hot spots during our stay . I would highly recommend this flat to anyone & can only hope my next experience is a good.

  • Cathy was an awesome host and we are grateful that she let our group use her beautiful home! Communication was great and we had no issues getting into the place. Cathy was quick to respond when we had questions and left no stone unturned when it came to information about things to do in the city.

You can't ask for a better location. We were within waking distance of many great restaurants and bars. It's a great place to experience San Francisco while at the same time not being in a "touristy" area.

  • Incredible experience for my first trip to San Francisco. The condo provided exceptional comfort and security for our group of 4 during our 4 night stay. Clean, spacious, and well-decorated, the condo is within easy walking distance to nearby parks, PacHeights shopping, and Marina nightlife. Cathy's hard work and attention to detail surpassed our expectations with welcoming coffee and beverages, detailed information of local restaurants and sites, and a painless and accommodating check-in/check-out. The spectacular view of the bay from the rooftop and the safe, convenient location of the condo would bring our Atlanta bunch back to this spot without question. Thank you Cathy for being a great host.

  • My husband and I stayed at Cathy and Jeff's lovely home in Cow Hollow with our two young children for 3 nights and we could not have been more impressed! First and foremost Cathy was so great at communicating with us and providing excellent information prior to our stay and checked in often to ensure we were comfortable. The condo itself is in a perfect location on Filmore right at Union street which is in the heart of Cow Hollow filled with shops and restaurants and just a few block walk to the marina. The house itself was immaculate and so comfortable for us. Cozy and comfortable yet modern and updated. We would without a doubt stay again and in fact are looking forward to it! Thanks again Cathy and Jeff!

  • Beautiful apartment and perfect location next to all the restaurants and shops on Union and Chestnut Streets. (We had an excellent walk across the Golden Gate Bridge back to the apartment too.)
The living room and bedrooms are large and bright, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would ever need but I must admit we only used the kitchen to enjoy their Kurig coffee and breakfast and coffee we bought around the corner. The view from the rooftop is amazing.
Cathy was an excellent communicator, and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine:) Cathy, thank you for the wine and sharing your fantastic home!

  • Cozy and Convenient is a perfect description. My husband and I stayed for a week flying in from the East coast and thoroughly enjoyed this perfectly appointed condo. All the rooms were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was perfect and close to where we used to live in the 70's. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to SF. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Cathy was also extremely helpful and communicated often to make sure we had everything we needed. We look forward to a return visit.

  • Cathy's condo is indeed cozy and convenient! It was also very clean and included everything needed for a comfortable stay. Cathy was very detailed and thoughtful in her communications.

I hesitate to list the one negative because everything else was so lovely; but, I feel I must. The street noise Friday night was so loud that it honestly seemed like there was a big party going on INSIDE the condo. This went on until 3 a.m. Regrettably, matters were made worse because I was sick and just wanted to sleep.

I'd definitely stay again, but I'd either be out joining the revelers next time or I would take some very heavy-duty ear plugs.

We enjoyed in the area: coffee bar half a block away; The Crab Shack for lunch; Brix for dinner and Bimbo's 365 for drinks and dancing. Alcatraz was shut down (thanks, Govt); but the cruise around it was fun and informative.

Thanks for your hospitality, Cathy! We appreciate it!

  • Cathy's home is absolutely wonderful - incredibly charming and homey! I booked the apartment for my mother and sister who were in town for my wedding. The apartment is fully stocked with all the amenities you might need and only one block from Union St. shopping. And then there's the rooftop deck with views of the bay and GGB! Cathy was quick to respond to my inquiry and just the nicest person. She sent several very sweet notes and reminded me not to stress about my wedding and to enjoy every moment of it. It means a lot to do business with good people and Cathy is a good person. With an amazing apartment to boot!!! You will not be disappointed with your stay!!!

Awww, that is SO nice, Fiona! I'm glad our home played a small part in your big day. I hope you're honeymooning somewhere fantastic right now ... Come and see us at The Blue Light sometime - would be great to meet and congratulate you in person. Thanks again for your kind words and thank your mom and sister for taking such good care of our condo.

About
We are Cathy, Jeff, Mick (age 9), and Dakota (the dog) Jordan. We love San Francisco and the opportunity to share it with others - whether it be through HomeExchange or AirBNB. We (email hidden)/restaurant, which is 2 blocks from our house and Cathy has a small, home-based business that allows for lots of time to be a mom. Mick is 9 and in the 4th grade. When not enjoying The City, we like to venture out of it and go backpacking, hiking, fishing, golfing, skiing, beaching, etc. Jeff is an avid runner, bike rider, sailor, and SF Giants fan. Cathy likes to cook, walk the City's hills (preferably while listening to a good audio book), read, go to movies, and spend time with friends and her mom. Mick likes "recess," reading books that make him laugh, swimming, going to Gramma's house, and playing with his friends and our dog, Dakota (who we all adore). Cathy's mom has a cabin at Serene Lakes (Soda Springs/Donner Summit) and we spend as much time there as we can. AirBNB asks if we have a "life motto" and while we don't really have one, we often quote a favorite Mick Jagger lyric: "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you'll find, you get what you need."
